This alternate events future Oda keeps drawings makes me feel like he either has an open ending or will show some kinda of time travel where events change...

Chopper's alternates are so extreme, one brings medicine and the other has poison shirt on him...

Yes, it's oddly specific for Chopper to seemingly have a medicine that can cure anything or holding a lifelong grudge against Luffy.

They have Odens diary though, might have a good hint where to look at. But my best guess would be BB already has it.

I thought of that, but somehow I have the feeling the journal will be a clue and will not mention directly the location. I would have a hard time believing that Oda will skip Lodestar Island entirely tbh

Besides the years post Wano, that's my take away from it. I remember commenting when this "5 year" annoucement came up a few months ago and tried to work out number of chapters, I said at the time Oda would have to cut away a lot of things and some pay-offs that we're maybe expecting would be skimmed over and not addressed to a satisfactory level, but if 5 years is just to reach the climax but not the end, then I'm happy with that. As he said he's still diligently working through everything, even after the Wano arc or climax of the series is passed. Personally that's all I needed to know.

I think Elbaff will be paid off, just in a more Zou way then a big arc, and I'm happy with that (Zou was the most economical pacing of the post time skip!).

Haha so true, mentally block out the last arc of Bleach and Naruto.

Bleach's last arc could habe been great had Kubo revealed the Shinigami's conspiracy that Ywhach only hinted at, but Kubo actually postponed it to a novel. That's not gonna happen with One Piece for sure though, Oda is not going to publish the Void Century as a textbook written by someone else

I still think this final war will shape into an Elbaf arc somehow. This is a pagan's Bible, "the" final pagan war is Ragnarök, and this whole Prince Loki stuff is way too weird. Like why get out of your way to even link this character's birthday with disaster? Why THAT name. Everyone knows Loki as a specific figure from Norse Mythology, Oda could have named the Prince Sven or Olaf or Harald or something had he wanted a generic name. Only Thor is more famous out of any special Norse figure.

There is also a gigantic tree - it can't bet left unexplained and we do miss the location of the last Road Poneglyph, which is what this final arc has to be about as that is what is missing to make Luffy the Pirate King.

I think Lodestar (Polaris, the North Star) atop the Elbaf tree (World Tree - - > Universe) could make a lot of sense. It has to be hidden as well, just not as hidden as Laugh Tale. Only Roger has reached it (or rather he was the first and is still the only one confirmed), which makes it unlikely to be a Sky Island as these are not 800years bulletproof secret. Lodestar is probably the second best hidden place in the One Piece World, and as such a perfect place to hide the last Poneglyph, and we know someone hid it, as its original location was Fishman Island. Whitebeard or Shanks seem the most reasonable culprits.

And with the reveal of "Ancient Giants" having been another project at Punk Hazard, Gigantification could very well be the "secret weapon". This entire plotline about Gigantification seems just too weird anyways as well, like I get the benefits of it, enormous strength and stuff. But there are also enormous downsides and I don't think any actual living person would really want to be a giant - so how can this story write this off as the dream of humanity, what is the purpose of it? There just has to be a payoff and I think the payoff is Ragnarök.

Anyways this whole "5 year stuff" is pr hype at its finest. There was a swap of editors some time ago and ever since then, One Piece has amped up its pr a lot. The confirmation is basically that they have been saying it for some time now - which means they are actually already stretching it. Don't put too much thought into it now as we are still going to be occupied by Wano arc for a while.

I get the feeling that the manga will still go on for quite a bit even after Luffy and co. find the One Piece at Laugh Tale and learn about Joy Boy’s second coming and the reality of the government’s intentions which will inevitably lead to a war on a grand-scale level. The last chapter definitely won’t be them just finding the One Piece.

Late response, but Chopper comments make me think they are related to future events in the series.

I think they are, specially cos he says when something goes wrong... all the strawhats show extreme views as if a tragedy has struck them in a bad manner and there's no escape for them.
Luffy says pirate king's a dream, Zoro says holding sword in his mouth gives him back-aches..... For now we can think of just SBS related keeping it open for the viewers that their dreams may not be achieved.

There’s also Yamon, whom apparently couldn’t be reasonably identified in Oden’s flashback, but concept art shows him having an appearance which suggests close comparisons to the Shandia people of Skypiea:

In the flashback it wasn't all that clear but Drake was slightly bigger. Besides that his age was revealed a long time ago in vol 68 SBS along with the other Supernova.

Yeah, Drake was a teen during the events of Law's flashback. Plus, going by what his dad's crew mentioned, he was their key fighter.

Well, i thought the events happened 13 years ago, so Drake would've been 20. it doesn't add up, why would Tsuru be kind to an adult? And Mingo pirates heard of a communication where a kid was caught / rescued by the marines. A difference that big would be unlikely...

It happened 16 years ago, so he was 17.

Actually, nope, you're right. Oda appears to not have accounted for the period of time Law spent with the crew. He was 13, but appears to have been still presented as a child when Cora died. Drake suffered from the same thing apparently.

Seiryu? I suppose that makes sense but... would that imply it's a different model from momonosuke's fruit? Seiryu is azure dragon which very fittingly describes kaido's dragon form... But a pink dragon?
