Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Ever heard of solitary confinement Tenryuuken?

Or maybe certain more known people are isolated in their own cells. If I were a warden, I wouldn't really risk some charismatic super strong dude uniting entire floor of prisoners and starting a rebellion.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Yeah, solitary confinement might be a necessity in some cases as one type of cell might work to confine one person but not another. On some levels like level 5 the cells may be tailored to confine that specific person.

For example a cell that could hold Ace might not hold Aokiji or Enel or Croc or Hancock or Luffy. This was just an example, most of those people are not in cells. :)

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

How does that work Wowzers? WOuldn't any cell of Seastone hold any of those characters.....maybe not someon like Zoro or Sanji though, people who use their own raw power......in my opinion there will come a time when both Zoro and Sanji can cut and kick seastone to pieces.....

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Yeah, brute force could do it. Haki maybe too but since so little info yet on that I am reserving judgment. Keep in mind also that seastone becomes less effective with distance and some of the cages are designed differently, probably to save money. If the bars are sufficiently far apart as in the ones that just go up and down like in the entrance hall Luffy could stretch while far away and put it thru without touching it. Alternatively, someone else could stretch him and put him between the bars. If you remember when Luffy was drowning while fighting Arlong the villagers saved him by stretching his head out of the water so he can still stretch, just not under his own power.

If the bars are the sturdier type though like these ones his head wouldn't fit through, even if the rest of him can stretch out. His head doesn't seem to stretch very well, even if his face does. :)

Basically, Luffy, and I suppose other devil fruit users too, can't use voluntary effects of their powers but can take advantage of involuntary effects. How this would affect a logia though like Ace is unknown. Ace obviously has lost some of the advantages of a Logia user since he has been tortured. Maybe it is due to being in direct contact with seastone and not just close to it. So to free a DF user you have to free them of not just the cage but the cuffs as well.

I may have just shot myself in the foot with that theory since I now realize that Luffy wouldn't be able to stretch if he was in the cuffs since being in direct contact with seastone is NOT the same as being in proximity to it. If this is the case then the effects of Seastone are actually stronger than the effects of the sea.

1) direct contact with seastone and df powers don't work at all. Fruit users so weakened they can't move much.
2) close proximity and fruit user can't use voluntary effects but involuntary ones still work.
3) As distance increases fruit users feel less weakened until they are normal.
4) Also if you are totally surrounded by it the effect is much larger than if there was one object made out of it like when Smoker carries around that seastone club.

Now, after having said all that, even if DF users are confined by that, the cage could still be broken out of by brute force, or some skill like picking a lock, or knowledge like chemistry creating an acid that eats through the bars, or the almost mythical haki being used to break out. Many of those could even be used by a df user in a weakened state.

Haha ok very well put wowzers, i think i just misunderstood your first post do to lack of insight but it is a good theory. You've also raised a interesting question which is how will Luffy free Ace upon contact.....Luffy has never been one to go find keys, maybe one of the other makeshift Sh members will find them, but he will have a problem especially if he can't make contact wth the seastone cuffs haha

I think he can broke seastone with Gear 3, no? The seastone won't remove all the sinetic energy upon attack. Well, but I can't think a technique that strong that won't also break Ace. =P

No, I don't think you misunderstood... my mind just took a hop, skip and a jump to the left. :)

I still think the cells will be tailored to the individual they are supposed to hold but DF users are a category of prisoner that they can simply use seastone on and they are automatically weakened. If they are not careful though the fruit user could still get out through some sneaky, unappreciated usage of their power.

Other strong prisoners on lvl5 need to be imprisoned without the convenient seastone effect. Giants are a good example. Extremely strong and large so it takes special arrangements to keep them confined. The one at the Human Auction also had an explosive collar and appropriately sized chains. I'm not sure the chains alone would have restrained the Giant but both chains and collar were quickly removed by Raleigh's haki.

The toughest prisoners to restrain will be those with multiple skill sets. They are probably the very ones they torture a lot, to keep them weakened and demoralized.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

my guess is that unless Saul didn't die there won't be a single Giant in this prison....Think of EL those two giant guards that Ussopp convinced to fight for the SH's they were a rare case and they weren't imprisoned they were made use of, it's probably to much of a hassle to imprison a giant.....

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

yo i was thinking about that and maybe theres a secret path that you have to take to go to raftel and that only opens every like i dont kno 25 years. i think it would make sense because think about shanks probably already knows how to get to raftel and cant go cause he has to wait. but nothing really said that shanks wanted to become pirate king, he only wants to be a pirate. anyway and when they said that roger and whitebeard fought, they said that roger escaped through raftel. that might mean that they both knew how to get to raftel but they had to wait and when the time came, both captains fought over the path and roger won and thats why hes pirate king. and that explains why whitebeard still isnt pirate king, cause he has to wait for the path to open. anyway i just thought about that and leave your comments i want to see wat you guys think about this hypothèse.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I suppose that Buggy was also there on Rough Tell so if OP is the greatest treasure, I would be pretty sure that Buggy would have stayed on the GL.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

"Rough Tale" was used by Mangascreener in the chapter where Crocus mentions the name after giving Nami the Log Pose, but I don't believe it's ever been used any other time. While "Rough Tale" is a possible Romanization of "Rafuteru", "Raftel" has become the most prevalent Romanization among the fandom, and is therefore the most common, so common that people use it almost to the exclusion of any other Romanization. I believe that Kaizoku, Stephen, Viz, and Null (at least, after Skypiea, they originally called it "Lavteru" when Robin discovered Roger's message on the golden bell) all use Raftel.

And to be fair, nobody REALLY knows what One Piece is, at least, not as far as we know. We don't KNOW if anybody but Roger knew what the treasure was. We do know that they all knew the True History, so if you assume that the True History is One Piece, which seems to be a common theory, then Roger's whole crew knows, and that explains why Buggy doesn't want it; he doesn't want knowledge, just money.

On the other hand, it's possible that One Piece is something other then the True History, so while all of Roger's crew knows that, they don't all know what One Piece is. I'm inclined to believe that if One Piece is something other then the Rio Poneglyph (which would make sense, since there's been too much hinting that the Rio Poneglyph is tied to Roger's treasure for the Rio Poneglyph to be all that there is to One Piece) then Roger hid it alone, away from his crew. Therefore, they don't know what One Piece is at all. It could be money, it could be a journal, it could be ANYTHING. I think that that would also explain why Buggy doesn't care for it. He wouldn't wanna exert that much effort for something that may not even have any monetary value. And even if you say that the very word "treasure" means money to Buggy, well, Roger himself seems to have had a definition of treasure dissimilar to Buggy's. We know Roger was like Luffy, so he probably thought of treasure as "something that has a lot of value for the owner". And Buggy, knowing that that was what his old captain thought of treasure, probably suspected that One Piece wasn't a monetary treasure. Therefore, he'd still have no interest in going after his captain's romantic treasure, because Buggy only cares about monetary treasure.

And either way, WE don't know enough about One Piece to say that it's not a monetary treasure. It seems that One Piece won't end up being JUST a monetary treasure, but there may very well be a monetary aspect, even if it's also a romantic treasure. We don't really know what One Piece is, the most we have is that Roger's crew took the Rio Poneglyph to Raftel, which seems... suspect, to say the least, but we don't know at all if that was related to One Piece. Heck, One Piece may actually be a material treasure, and Buggy may even know what it is, he's just too afraid to shoulder the burden of sailing through the entire Grand Line to get to it. Those are all valid possibilities, until we get some conclusive information on what One Piece actually was. And considering Luffy's little speech back at Shakky's Rip-Off Bar, he's not gonna wanna take the information even if it's presented to him; he's already turned it down once. Chances are that we're gonna have to wait for the Raftel arc and the conclusion of the series for a truly conclusive answer.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

One Piece couldn't be jus the True History that's obvious because why would Shanks try and be the Pirate King if he already knew, there must be something else to it in my opinion

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

how is shanks trying to be pirate king? ive never seen him saying it somewhere or maybe i just missed out on it. i thought he was a pirate just for the adventure and i thought they called him younkou cause as one of the strongest crew in the new world they assumed that hes the closest to one piece. and i dont think one piece is the true history. i think that theres the rio poneglyph on raftel but its not one piece. maybe because the rio poneglyph is on raftel id kind of ads to one piece but i dont think its part of one piece. i think that the poneglyphs and one piece is completely different.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Maybe I should put that differently, I was of the opinion that Shanks wished to be the pirate king before meeting kid Luffy, I think he knows now that he can't be with just one arm, but i find it hard to believe that one doesn't hae epic duels with Mihawk just for the fun of it, my guess is there was a time when Shanks wished to be the Sea's King

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

what kind of stupid pirate would give up on being pirate king just cause he lost an arm? shanks was not a younkou when he lost his arm and now he is so i think that explains it. but ya your right i think shanks wanted to become pirate king at some point. and its mihawk that doesnt want to fight shanks because he has an handicap. im sure shanks wouldnt mind fighting him just for the fun of it.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

no no i thought it was already established that Shanks was a big pirate before he met luffy or i might be wrong......

Yeah i'm not sure, perhaps Shanks was a righty so mihawk knows he's not at his best anymore..... i think you and me agree camil in general just not on the finer points LOL

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Shanks was certainly a famous pirate 11 years ago, before coming to Foosha Village. Remember, his rivalry with Mihawk happened between the formation of the Red Hair Pirates after Roger's execution and his leaving the Grand Line to go to East Blue, and even Whitebeard knew of it, so it seems apparent that Shanks had gained a fair amount of notoriety even then. However, he wasn't considered one of the 4 most powerful pirates in the world. That seems to have come up some time over the last 10 years, since he lost his arm saving Luffy and reentered the Grand Line.

And I think Mihawk just feels that it'd be dishonorable for him to fight a quite literally handicapped opponent. Whether or not Shanks won before or could win now, Mihawk just doesn't think it's worth it to fight a one-armed man. Shanks, on the other hand, seems to feel that his handicap won't handicap him much. We don't know if he's after One Piece or not, and therefore, whether or not the loss of his arm has affected his desire for it. But judging by his challenging Mihawk, I think that Shanks' opinion on the matter is still "it's just an arm". Frankly he doesn't seem to care about it much, he just goes on with his life, arm or no arm.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I always thought it strange that Mihawk is considered the most powerful swordsman in the world with Shanks around, I mean so far there was never a Shichi that could stand up to a Yonkou, I'm sure this will soon change with BB vs WB but before that we only heard tales of Shichi and Yonkou rivalries usually leading to the Shichi being defeated. So I'm curious that (i think) the second strongest pirate in the world ISN'T also the strongest swordsman because we seem to have gathered that it was a draw between the two, or perhaps it wasn't....

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Nobody really knows how the duels between Mihawk and Shanks ended, and if they do, they have yet to mention it. My personal theory on the matter is that when Shanks left the Grand Line for East Blue, Mihawk continued to further his reputation in the Grand Line, and when Shanks came back without his left arm and Mihawk refused to fight him, people assumed that Mihawk was obviously the stronger fighter because Shanks was considered out of the running due to the loss of his arm. Thus, Mihawk got the title because nobody thought that Shanks was a contender for it anymore. One of the best swordsmen in the world, certainly, but not THE best. However, they haven't fought in over eleven years, so we don't actually know which of them would defeat the other at the current point in the story. I suspect that we may find out before the series ends, though...
