Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

I think any news of ID will be heavily overridden by any news of the WG war.

That is, not many will see the victory of Luffy when compared to the loss of Whitebeard.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Fishmen are stronger underwater than above ground so wouldn't it be counter-productive to chain a fishman like Jinbei with kairouseki? Wouldn't it just make him stronger? If freed, he may keep some kairouseki chains to fight with.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

By the time Luffy gets to the NW His name will be known all over the world, alot of people will be looking out for his crazy crew in the new world

First Ennies Lobby then Impel Down?! From the outside it looks like The SH's planned on taking out the justice system

that would be even more apparent if word about him being Dragon's son becomes know. -- Only one place left in the triangle, Marioja

Hmm, I'll leave there for later on in the story it IS the Marind HQ afterall, if they take it out then they pretty much take out the marines. Thats one place the Sh's cant lay a finger on right now, the admirals would shove their foot so far up the sh's asses

Plus they have to pass through fishman island

I thought Fishmen had an advantage underwater simply because they could breathe underwater. Has it ever been stated that they have some sort of mystical power-up from the sea? :?bunny

I was under the impression that kairouseki only had a special effect on DF users, and that for everyone else, it was simply a very dense metal. Since it emanates the same "energy" or feeling of the sea, it allows marine ships to go unnoticed, but I don't think it does more than that.

see http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/86/09/. It's probably been stated more clearly somewhere, but that's what I could think of.

I don't think kairouseki would power up Jinbei. And why would he be chained with that stuff anyway? If he'd eaten a devil fruit it makes sense, but in that case it'd make him weaker... or would it? If so, he's a stupid bastard for eating one, if he did. :p

Ah. Thank you. Well, it seems that the merpeople do get some sort of power-up under the water, but I still don't think it has anything to do with kairouseki.

Kairouseki is still a very hard material. From how it has been characterized, I would imagine it is one of the hardest (if not the hardest) substance in OP. So, why not chain Jinbei with it? If he doesn't receive a power-up from it and if it is probably the strongest type of cuffs ID has, it makes sense to use it to detain Jinbei.

Aside from normal fishman being 10 times stronger than a normal man, no.

And the difference is probably amplified under water.

No powerup. It's their natural habitat and they are adapted to living under water. Most humans don't have a chance underwater, because a fishman can breathe under water and he can move faster, due to his fins and swimming skins.

We don't exactly know if seastone is the hardest material in OP. There isn't any indication about it anyway.
But I'd say it's not the hardest substance in OP since we've seen bars made from it, weapon tips made from it, even nets made from it.
Jinbei can be easilly restrained with steel too. It's just a matter of tying him properly, so he can't use his strenght or any muscle momentum.

What I was thinking of was that kairouseki "emits the same energy as the sea". If it affects df users like they are in contact with the sea, does it affect fishmen like they were in contact with the sea?

Yes, I'm guilty of referencing that page too, http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/86/09/ :)
Since a fishman said that they get stronger underwater, I took it as a given that it is the case. He could have been lying or exaggerating, but I didn't think so since they were bragging about how superior they were to humans.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

They are stronger because it's their natural habitat. They are adapted to life under the sea surface. That's why, they are stronger when in the water. Humans don't have gills or fins or skin between fingers which allow fishmen to move fast and easy underwater.

There's nothing magical about it. Use your heads.

And kairouseki emits the same energy as the sea, which affects DF users, but it doesn't have any effect on fishmen.

Well, that was my original interpretation, but I just wanted to give the benefit of the doubt, since ti was possible that the statement could be interpreted as some sort of other power-up (although I personally think it is more likely that they are just more physically suited for the water like you are saying).

There has been a fair amount of indication about kairouseki being an extremely hard material. It was called harder than diamond and is seemingly commonly used in very expensive imprisonment paraphernalia (e.g., cages, shackles, etc.). I said that I imagine (i.e., speculate) it is likely one of the hardest materials, perhaps being the hardest (although I could easily see something else being the hardest, as I am rather certain the Poneglyphs aren't made of kairouseki).

The reason why Jinbei is imprisoned could be just because of the manner in which he is tied or the strength of the binding material. We don't know as of yet enough about the materials or Jinbei to conclude anything; so, the possibilities are still rather open.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

hey guys i was rereading the shabondy chapters and can someone explain to me what the hell luffy meant when he said, i dont want to conquer anything, i just think that the man with the most freedom is the pirate king, or something like that. i kind of get it but why the hell would the pirate king have the most freedom? because hes untouchable? like the whole marine would be after him. obviously most pirates and the world will have respect for him, and even be scared of him, but the world goverment would be after him non stop. like sry but i just dont get how he has the most freedom, maybe between pirates but not worldwide.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

He's free because he has removed himself from any law but his own. The way that Oda has cast a pirate is as somebody who doesn't respect any rules or limits other then the ones he imposes on himself. The Pirate King, as the strongest and most prominent pirate in the world, has a achieved a degree of freedom and independence that lesser pirates can only dream of. He's become a power great enough to make his own rules, and that's what being a pirate in One Piece is all about.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Somehow I think Luffy will be imprisoned there, in the Impel Down. Things with going down and rescuing Ace are too fast and undetailed to be major story line of that Arc. What about SH team powering up long story? And in a denouement - rescuing their captain and so on, what do you think? I'm a newbie, so..

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Welcome to MH :)

Frankly, I don't want the story to stretch any more, and I don't want to keep watching the interior of ID for too long. And mostly, I don't want for each SH to have 3-4 chapters, maybe even more.

What I do think is that it's time for another ally to join Luffy. All of you that are predicting the capture aren't taking that into consideration. Sure, as they are, they could be beaten. But who's to say that the number of mates is going to stay the same.

Besides, ID isn't famous for no reason, and Luffy only managed to get in because of once in a lifetime opportunity given by Hancock. If Luffy get's captured, the security is probably going to tighten more than ever, and after that, I don't see how rest of the SH could have a chance at getting inside ID, freeing Luffy and others, while at the same time providing a route of escape.

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

Yeah, I don't think the quick pace Oda's built up now is suddenly going to be disrupted.

I still see the SA and Amazon Lily arcs as "mini arcs" or "lead-in arcs", and I think this one is one of those as well, leading into the big War arc, so I don't see this going on for that much longer. At the pace Luffy is moving towards his goal he'll probably be there in... 3-4 chapters? And then there's a bit of fighting and the "getting-out"-process left which might take another 8 chapters, max. I hope. Or, if he gets captured like some say, those 8 chapters might be 3 chapters, max.

Does anyone think Arlong is in Impel Down? :amuse

if he is then they've most probably passed him, since they're now in L.4 and i doubt that Arlong would have been place below L.3 because of his bounty and the strength of those other inmates in L.3(maybe L3 is a bit too much for him...)

I'm wondering where Daz Bones(Mr.1) is? was he in L3 cos i think i saw someone that looked like him...

Re: One Piece Mega Convo (Spoilers!)

concerning the chapters left for thise part of the story I don't think it's that few.
Oda started with an introduction herefore even before TB, at TB itself Kuma had his intro then after that were Duval, Sabaody and Amazon Lily, which were all really fast paced small entities. (only mentioning TB because it is the prelude in this 'saga' not because it really belongs here, though with Zoro landing at Peronas place... you get the idea).

That's why imo ID could be twice as long as Amazon Lily was, meaning around another 14 chapters, but it will tie in perfectly with the war, which in turn means WB is likely to attack ID
