Lets use science in the manga where Ace got pwnt cause lava can "burn" fire. Science doesn't cut it here.

Actually, fire wasn't burnt. Ace's body was burnt because lava is hotter than Ace's fire burns. You're just bad at science.

Yeah, the Admirals are freakishly tall. Heck, even the Shichibukai are huge (at least by looking at this panel) http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/550/08-09/ We know that Boa isn't as big as the guys but I think it's because she's a female char.

Oda is really doing something interesting here. All (at least the majority) the major players so far have been portrayed as bigger than life while Luffy is "normal size." I just hope he doesn't get all tall and skinny like Kizaru

And your point on Luffy, I almost have a feeling we'll never see "grown up or adult" Luffy, and if we do it'll be when One Piece finally comes to a close, I could see Luffy as more a shanks drawn character, shorter more laid back, but extremely powerful

pirate king himself was normal size i believe [ which goes in the favor of luffy] and he was supposedly the strongest of all.. just adding one more thing

Roger was said to be equal to Whitebeard. So technically there were at least two strongest guys out there. If we take Garp into consideration, I believe even three. Roger was the most successful among them, but not necessarily the strongest. While Luffy will surpass those three in all respects.

Anyway about size: Roger, Rayleigh, Mihawk and Boa, who are all insanely strong yet at normal size. Well I assume Boa is insanely strong. Also Shakky, Smoker etc

I also believe Haki played a role there. No matter how hotter lava ist, Ace was still in logia form thus intangible for another er heat based attack.

I thought Ace was burned because he didnt turn into fire and stayed solid, because if he would had go into "Fire-Mode" Akainu´s attack would have just go through Aces body and Akainu would had hit Luffy....and ace wanted to protect Luffy.

I was re-reading the arc and carefully looking at what Whitebeard says changed my opinion of the ending : http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/576/13/

I had always believed that after "the final battles" Luffy will find One Piece and then it will somehow end happily.
But the things that Whitebeard said imply that there will be a big war AFTER the Strawhats (supposedly) find One Piece & the true history with it.
Will that also be the time when Luffy kicks Akainu's ass hardcore ?
If that is so, during that time, Luffy carrying the hatred with him for all the years to come, would really power him up Shounen style.

Here's what I think on Ace v. Akainu

I think Akainu's devil fruit, is a more complex version of Ace's and that the properties of Lava, which can't be affected by fire, will only burn hotter when exposed to it

that's just how those logias stack against each other...

in retro-respect here's how I think some other logia's (theoretically) stack up

Aokoji v. Ace - Fire can beat ice, Aokoji is a good fighter so it would take some time, I just doubt Aokoji could face off successfully against that DaiEnkai Fireball Sun Blast

Aokoji v. Akainu - I would say ice would win, because this just has to do with elemental properties again, whilst Aokoji would be at a disadvantage against PURE FIRE, which cannot be frozen or cooled period, MAGMA on the other hand, can be cooled and pretty quickly, Akainu would end up having to "Rock Out" if you get what I'm sayin

It occurs to me, that was probably the ORIGINAL usage, since treasure is indeed something that you can bet, and buttocks aren't. Alternatively, it might have started as donkeys, and then switched to booty. It's historically unclear to me.

I was talking about the first encounter between them, shortly before Akainu aimed for Luffy.

im ashamed to say this but i have just found out that akainu means red dog in japanease. i was thinking that zakazuki changed hin name to akainu when he got promoted and was nicknamed red dog. in my mind he was called akainu the red dog, and i had no idea how to say red dog in japanease. now that i know im gonna hide in the corner for a couple of days.

Basically Ace cannot heat what is hot already so no effect

but I think the impurities of the magma affected ace lol


And also as croco-boy said, you wouldn't know what is to what is the effect of other df to your df, something like that.

dude. haki played no role. get over it. Oda explained through akainu why he was able to beat ace. magma > fire. get over it. might not make sense but that was the explanation given. why would he lie. what, you think later on in the manga akainu will say 'the truth is, i used haki to beat ace'. no. there is no more revelation to be given about how akainu beat ace.
