I bet Roger's bounty that Dadan is just an elder villager who's known Garp for a long time and who Garp entrusted with taking care of Luffy and Ace, and is no one of notable power or status. If he is related to anyone, someone of power, or status, he's probably of a different era and is now just an old fella enjoying his peace. I doubt Dadan will be seen anytime soon if at all in the future.

I am hoping that Kong(if he turns out not to be Dadan, which the name already suggests) is revealed later in the story. Would be great. The mystic zoan fruit user model King Kong. Powers: rampaging and climbing up the houses. Beating dinosaurs and airplanes. Resistant to gunfire.

I'm getting fed with this Dadan=Kong bullshit. It's just a shot in the dark. There could be tons of reasons why Kong's face wasn't shown. Maybe he'll have an important role later and his face wasn't shown so that we don't recognize him the moment we see him.
Anyway, one more link and I take myself out of the discussion.

Does the text in first panel look like a conversation between a vice admiral and his former commander? Is it possible that Kong resigned not long after Roger's execution and went to East Blue to rest, where Garp found him and ordered him to raise a kid?

Making fun of the idea Dadan was an important man working for justice by saying Dadan is a tenryubito or a God is not very smart of you. I hope you did not really mean that my idea is as ridiculous as the possibility that Dadan is a tenryubito ?

Smart? Well, it's not like I count it as one of my greatest achievements.
And yeah, I really do think that those possibilities are equally ridiculous.

But for sure whoever Dadan is, if Garp chose them.. It was to make the boys good Marines.

It's cool that Kong could show up at some point, but the cast is pretty full as it stands. I'd really rather finally see Vegapunk and find out what's his deal.
There are pressing concerns like BB and the Revolutionaries that take precedence in my book. Dadan is the person who trained Luffy and Ace and raised them..I'm good with that much for now.

its safe to say that dadan isnt a pirate based off garp telling luffy that shanks corrupted him. if dadan were a pirate then he would not have to say that. dadan trained ace and luffy so its safe he has some fighting ability.

like lord rayleigh it did kinda seem like oda went out of his way to introduce kongs name. also his face was covered. if admiral kong was just another character then he would have been shown like dr indingo from chapter 0.

garp trust him enough to take care of his boys, so im sure he is old and garp has been knowing him a while.

as of right now i stand by lord rayleigh that kong is dadan. also it could be playing off the monkey them. monkey d luffy..............kong d dadan(possibly)

Dr. Indigo is a character in Movie 10 Strong World, he is totally different from character like Kong and Dadan.

The pic of the Mugiwara's changed by Iva is funny. I like how Brook didn't change... he is dead after all.

I think Brook would be Iva's natural enemy as Iva's hormone powers wouldn't work directly against him. His death wink still would though.

Now that I remember, the mayor of Luffy's hometown said "does Dadan know it [Luffy's bounty]?". Dadan is almost likely a Marine.

Whoever Dadan was, he would have to be an old friend of Garp, and would also have to be a skilled fighter. Dadan's first job would be to protect the kids. If anyone discovered the identity of their fathers, Dadan would have had to be the first line of defense. He would have to be strong. Probably vice-admiral level or better. Later, he would train them when they are old enough, but at first he was just their protector. I have a hard time believing that Garp would pick a non-marine for the job, as he wanted to train the kids to be strong marines.

I was all on the Gorosei bandwagon, but now the suggestion that it was Fleet Admiral Kong brought a smile to my face. Oda even hid Kong's face, so we know Kong will show up in future chapters sometime.

As for someone recognizing him, Raleigh has lived next door to fleet headquarters for 20 years and has managed to avoid attention all that time. He even kept the same name! If Kong is actually Dadan, he changed his name and went into obscurity in East Blue, where the marine presence is minimal and it would be fairly easy to avoid much attention. Your typical East Blue marines are pretty low on the totem pole so wouldn't be hobnobbing with the Admiralty. This means they would be unlikely to recognize Fleet Admiral Kong. He would likely just look like an old man with a couple of kids in a obscure little village

I hope not.

Luffy is son of the greatest criminal, grandson of the marine hero, brother of world current most important person, trained by marine supreme admiral, Kaidou is his childhood best friend, Luffy also has a sister that is the last Yonkou, and his mother is the fusion dance Whitebeard + Roger with Iva hormones.
