^Luffy isn't the weapon type IMO, he's shown no affinity for them since the start of the series (unless you count him cutting his own face open), I can't remember a part in the manga where he's utilzed a sword or gun

In the Arlong Park arc, Luffy used two swords to fight Arlong, and he also fought with that,

actually the crap is going to be kicked out of luffy if they meet in the near futur . its probably their fate to not meet soon , luffy is no where near that BB .

Do not overestimate BlackBeard, as fleurlolie said even with 2 DFs ... as WhiteBeard already proved or what Luffy proved back in ID ... he doesn't know how to counter or react against a direct attack (well that's YY no mi's job but I mean a natural attack). -_-

we saw that BB is fast enough to to use YY no mi on gear 2 Luffy. if he has that on his left and while holding on to him punch him with GG right punch. Luffy would surely die. He cant use rubbers natural ability to deal with quakes.

EDIT : we have no idea how much time passed between the day Teach killed Thatch and the day Ace left the WB pirates to hunt BB : when Ace showed Luffy's first bounty to WB, Teach might have already attacked Drum.

That is a bit mistranslation. Original Japanese says "Several months ago". Several months in Japanese means 2-9 months.But like you say 2-3 months should be reasonable.

I mean, if he just teleported to BB's back there would be no way in hell BB would excape any attack..
And as BB has quake fruit, Luffy has gear 3, wich even if it is a little (read a lot) weaker, its pretty much the same when you're fighting a person and not a building..

This Arlong-Drum timeline puzzles me. Either that means that it takes much longer for Luffy to reach Drum than we tought or it means that Ace somehow return in the new world during his hunt which I found doubtfull.

Quake is not that of a big deal for Luffy. Imagine what would be of Whitebeard rampage if Marine HQ was made of rubber...

The problem is that the Yami Yami no Mi can nullify his power, not to mention Haki (even if Blackbeard is not yet confirmed, I expect him to be Hakushoku).

It could also mean that Ace did not begin to hunt BB as soon as BB left the crew.

That's a great idea ! When we know that the Yonkou have territories, it is logical that some of their crew go to control and protect the different islands when new pirates come there.
And the WB pirates go on their own missions on the sea, they do not all stay at the Moby Dick : Ace was said to have made the Doma crew surrender.
Ace probably came back from a mission and the first thing he said to WB was " See what I've found in a newspaper ! Check it out, pops ! This is my brother ! " Then, he learnt that Thatch was killed during his absence, and that BB left the crew just after that. Indeed, I doubt the birds that deliver the newspaper go to the Moby Dick and have a contract with the Emperor.

Yeah that could work also I'm not sure Whitebeard would do that in that order. Anyway to me that is more like :

Or it could also mean Ace was waiting for WhiteBeard to do something but didn't, so when he saw his indifference ... I guess he decided to avenge Thatch by himself.

it doesnt look like was joking when he made up his mind to take the gura fruit . remember that this fruit made whitebeard the strongest just imaging whitebeard whithout his fruit relying on haki only wont take him anywhere .
luffy wont be able to take BB down unless he comes up whith something other than haki and his DF .
maybe a gun and a sword just like roger

Not the last part, but I do agree He will need something more. Maybe a new Gear after Haki mastering. Although we don't know nothing about Haki neither, so it may be that it leads to new paths of fighting.

About Blackbeard: We don't know NOTHING about the consequences of having two devil's fruit and how BB can use them. I'm starting to think that it's not BB who has it, but his arm. After all, it maybe something separated and it would have logic.
