i dont understand why everyone wants perona to join. i think hurcules would make a better strawhat than her.
look at the break down of the crews. as main crewman go, of all the crews we have not seen more than 2 females, except the kuja pirates. we all know that the strawahats a destined to fight the BB's in the end.
of all the level 6 prisoners to survive the BB's battle royale, BB only took 4 when he could have taken more. to convient. with the pirates he has added, that makes the number 10(11 if you count stronger).
look at the strawhats, they have 9 members. leaving room for 1 maybe 2 more. does anyone actually think that perona could last against one of the BB's? dont worry i will wait!
the strawhats are about to head to the new world. they dont need some silly little girl on their team, they need a beast. someone who is just below the monster trio, after their upgrades.
lets say for instance if we were to match up the BB's vs the strawhats, and perona was a member who would she fight? there is no match up for her.

chopper(monster point) vs san juan

next member vs busco shot
perona has no chance against him. thats why the last member has to be a guy. now if 2 more members join and she is one of them then im cool with that, but for the be the last i cant see it.
I agree with you on some content, one of the essential conditions to determine whether Perona join the Straw Hat Pirates is how many seats left empty on Thousand Sunny --- if there will be another two people/thing to join this team, then Perona's chance is considerable, but if only one more crew will join SH's,then her chance is remote(at least I think).

about so called one-on-one battle, I have to point out that in fact all those campaign Straw Hat Pirates have been go through, there is never any guarantee for absolute one-on-one battle

there is two-on-two battle(strictly speaking two-on-three)--Usopp Chopper vs. Mr. 4 Team (Mr. 4, Miss Merry Christmas, Lasso)
there is six-on-four battle-----Usopp, Luffy, Carue, Vivi, Zoro, and Nami vs. Mr. 3, Miss Goldenweek, Mr. 5, and Miss Valentine
In Skypeia Arc,
there is three-on-one battle---Usopp, Luffy, and Sanji vs. Satori
there is the case which some one totally exclude from one-on-one battle---Nami,Sanji
In Enies Lobby campaign,there is the case which some one totally exclude from one-on-one battle---Usopp
In Thriller Bark campaign,
there is two-on-three battle----Chopper and Robin vs. Dr. Hogback, Cindry, Jigorou, and Inuppe.
there is the case which some one totally exclude from one-on-one battle---Nami(the defeat of Absalom is contributed by Sanji's credit)
so personally speaking, I don't see why so called one-on-one battle should be set as a rule?
