Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

  • For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
  • Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
  • Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
  • We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

  1. Shanks v Mihawk
  2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
  3. Zoro > Luffy
  4. Zoro v Sanji
  5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
  6. Mihawk's rank within the story
  7. Law having CoC currently.
  8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

And all you are missing is an explanation for this:

ONLY ONE person in THIS COUNTRY was EVER been able to tame Enma...
You are literally saying that this entire sentence has no meaning.
I’m not the one saying the entire sentence is wrong, it’s Oda that are saying this hahahahaha.

If you are not believing in me, read the SBS, Oda say that Kozaburu forged Enma and gift it to Oden before leaving Wano.

How would Zoro without swords do against Kidd, rather, as Kidd can take away Zoro's swords as they're metal.

Agreed, but Sanji kept himself lowkey enough that he got bounty way too late, and even then it didn't increase as much as it should have. But then again, how many people knew Sanji was why the Straw Hats made it out of Enies Lobby?
I doubt he'd do well. I'm certain Kidd is a more competent hand to hand combatant than Zoro. I'm moreso thinking about how Oda would handle Haki with Kidd's fruit. I imagine, like Law, if you have decent Haki, you can mitigate some of the effects of the Fruits ability, but will it extend to swords?

Yup. He was low key and, like most of the Strawhats, was under assessed.

Also, I think Killer is decently strong. He lost against Zoro, but even Zoro had to get serious with him and admitted his strength.

Easily explained why Sanji isn't a Supernova.
He was not named one back then in Sabody...

Has nothing to do with his power level imo, but he is not a supernova.

Not because of power, but he came late. He has power of Supernova as recognize by some of the members.

Miss information. Kozaburo must have spoken to someone how the sword he make can draw people Ryuu (Haki) or Oden can be talk about it too. Oden is a monster since his birth, people can think only a monster like him can use the sword. Or it’s a exaggeration from Hitetsu. It’s possible in my opinion. How he come to keep Oden’s swords? I didn’t see him anywhere in the flashback

Probably so, but Zoro didn't show incompetency in that when he was forced to fight hand-to-hand, and he is freakishly strong. What do you mean by that though?
I do wonder if Kidd can add CoA to steel and repel it towards enemies for extra power.

Killer is being underestimated, I agree. I'm not sure why or how Oda did the fight like that, but Killer is definitely much better than he's been shown.

It has more to do with his bounty. If he was given a bounty around the same time as Zoro and Luffy, he could have become a Supernova, easily.

Zoro's not incompetent, but he's at a severe handicap going against someone of Kidd's or even Luffy's caliber without his weapons of choice. He strong, but in hand to hand, I don't think he'd beat them since that's their main mode of fighting.

I would be more surprised if he didn't do this in the near future. I'm looking forward to seeing him use hardening on his cyber arm and fighting with it.

It's weird. Leaving it inconclusive would've been better probably. I guess it doesn't matter as Oda could end up coming in and saying they were both handicapped or something. Zoro couldn't use Santoryu properly and Killer didn't have his actual scythes that he used.

So what you are saying is that Oda didnt want to say what he said and that others in Wano are capable of taming Enma?

Kidd hasn't shown enough to really determine how much of a handicap Zoro would be at. I think Zoro could handle himself even if he'd lose.

Yeah or at least, not have Killer go after Zoro or explain that Killer was nowhere near his actual capabilities due to the drug.

So what you are saying is that Oda didnt want to say what he said and that others in Wano are capable of taming Enma?
Words shouldn't be taken as facts unless proven by action, as what characters say is what Oda wants us to think. Probably not related to this current discussion, but it's silly to think that everything characters say is true and Oda telling us directly what's facts when all he's doing is making us think this or that.

No, in my opinion, this only shows how great is Oda writing. If the sword is forged and gifted to one person and this one person use this sword for all his life and that person is a monster and a legend like Oden, it’s normal his weapon to become legendary too. Hitetsu never appears in Oden flashback, we don’t know how he came to possesses his swords. But we know everyone knows Oden and his feats. Hitetsu don’t seem like a master in Ryuu, so, probably when he held Enma and his Haki is sucked, he begin to think like he said in the mangá. Not because a person in the manga says one thing that this thing is an absolutely truth, he only says his point of view

To me that line is clear portrayal of Zoro above all other Wano citizens, not that I needed it, plenty of things to back up Zoro's strength.
If you think someone from Wano is above Zoro, I wont stop you from thinking that.

That’s difficult to measure in my opinion, for me Zoro didn’t show anything impressive in NW and no one in Wano had a real fight. Ashura slice Jack and Denjiro cut a warship, but in a real fight we don’t know how powerful they are

Didnt he humiliate a fellow Supernova?
Didnt he split mountain casually that no one else in NW has shown?
Did he cut through Admiral's gravity and push him back?
Didn't he show haki flow mastery of high grade?
"Nothing impressive"...

What context can you add to make mountain buster not impressive lmao?
Or what context can you add to make Supernova unable to pull out a weapon not impressive?
What context can you add to make pushing Fujitora back through gravity not impressive?

1. He didn't humiliate either Supernova he fought. Vs Hawkins, he was the only 1 injured of the 2 and he was running away so it was less of a fight and more of a tactical retreat. Vs Killer, Killer got him down just as easily as Zoro put him down (stomach issues or not.

2. He didn't split a mountain casually. He used his strongest attack to date(nonashura)

And was clearly tired from the fight. So no, not casual.

3. Said Admiral was clearly not by any means serious and just underestimated Zoro being able to break out of that level of gravity.

4. Showed flow haki but not of the highest grade. That belongs to Luffy.

All good feats, but not OMG impressive unless your a mega fanboy of the character. I think his most impressive of those feats was countering Fujitora, but we all know if Funjitora was serious it wouldn't have gone that smoothly.

And any way, impressive is a matter of opinion.
