Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.
8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

Where would you guys place the Gaoh Cannon of the Sunny? I'd say (even if it was not upgraded post time skip*) it could at the very least stagger (but no damage) to a Yonkou.

Maybe damage equal to a King Kong Gun?

*I have literally no memory of it being used in canon post time skip, dunno if memorys right

I agree it could stagger a Yonko. I think at point blank range it could put down a YC4 for a long while

100% max gao Canon tho.

I don't think Kuzan's ice would damage Kaido like Akainu's magma could damage Kaido

Yes and their abilities cancel eachother out. Their abilities are perfect for stalemating eachother

Blackbeard is the hardest to rank for me because he's the only one of those I expect to get stronger, or be much stronger than I feel. I'd put all those guys on the same level.

I think if he gets that 3rd DF, a popular theory, he will be the undisputed strongest in the verse

Oda did say Akainu could end OP in a year. That alone should put him as a top 3 character if not strongest.

I don't know if Blackbeard is the strongest. Has he bothered to make any moves against the Marines or another Emperor yet? Seems like he's just as strong as any other Emperor, give or take, that he can't afford to fight them yet until his crew gets much stronger.

True. Right now, I'd have to say Kaido is the strongest, but BB will overtake him somehow. Shanks is very wary of BB, and there's parallels with Xebec.

Oda did say Akainu could end OP in a year. That alone should put him as a top 3 character if not strongest.

He was strong before he even had a DF. He scared Shanks. Mihawk didn't, but BB, pre-DF did.

The thing that throws people off is he is very calculating, which comes off as cowardice sometimes. But he only wants to do things on his own terms. He'll fight you, but not when you want, when he wants.

As thedude said, Blackbeard was strong before he even got his fruit. The series has dropped some serious hints that his physical abilities are monstrous, most likely due to his "abnormal" body.

He knows when to cut and run, sure, but he's to be feared in my opinion.

I think he and Shanks are going to be the strongest, mainly due to their narrative role in the series. I'd toss Akainu in that group as well. Those three are probably the strongest individuals in the series that we are aware of at this moment.

The remaining Yonkou, Admirals, a certain swordsman, and some others follow closely behind, but I think those three are the big ones.

People sleeping on Big Mom. She just fought Kaido for a full night and had no injuries to speak of. She killed the giants leader as a child. She's as strong as Kaido.

I'd put the top 3 (that we are aware of) as Shanks, BB, Akainu. I think everyone saying that group is right, just following the narrative. Kaido and BM aren't in that group...and you can tell for an obvious reason: They are both likely to go down this arc! The first Yonko to go down isn't likely to be the strongest. But they are for sure in the top 5, just after the 3 I mentioned.

Mihawk would slot into the group of Yonko Commanders/first mates most likely. Strong, maybe strong enough to be an admiral, but not on the level of those top 5. He is the most skilled with his sword. But Yasop is also the most skilled sniper, I'm not putting him on Yonko level for that. Same with Mihawk.
