Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

1. Shanks v Mihawk
2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
3. Zoro > Luffy
4. Zoro v Sanji
5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
6. Mihawk's rank within the story
7. Law having CoC currently.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

Everyone was injured, and actually no one was ready to continue fighting. Sengoku even admitted to it. If anything, you're making it seem like no admiral has a chance of fighting a yonko which is simply not true. A fresb yonko vs an injured admiral. Of course the latter isn't going to fight. Not that difficult to comprehend.


There is no headcanon in what I'm saying. You're wanking the yonko lmao. The admirals and the yonko are the top tier of OP whether you like it or not. To say that Akainu has no chance against one is headcanon. I also don't need to prove anything when you're making the claim. Nowhere is it mentioned that the yonko are tiers above anyone else.

Why would the admirals fight the WB pirates when they're washed up? You actually make no sense.

To say someone like Kizaru or Akainu doesn't stand a chance against someone like Big mom is hilarious.

you made a claim that "Akainu can defeat Shanks". So back that claim up. Oh wait you can't because unlike you, I have proof. The only reason Akainu was able to land a punch on WB was because WB fell ill. Injured WB was then able to take down Akainu after 2 hits, but he didn't finish the job. Either way, WB would've killed Akainu.

I agree with Yonko> Admirals (to include Akainu) > YC.
Someone mentioned Kizaru wanting to go to Wano, but Kaido and Big Mom would kill him. The Marines are scared shitless of their alliance. That proves more that a Yonko > Admiral.
Also, people saying that Akainu didn't fight back agaisnt Shanks because he was told to stand down, but even before that both Aokiji and Kizaru tried to stop Luffy. So Akainu could've done so if he wanted to but he was afraid of Shanks. This was before Sengoku told everyone to stay down. The only point you guys have is that Akainu was injured, yet he was still fired up fighting the WB pirates and chasing Luffy.

Shanks > Akainu.

Top 3 are quite a bit ahead of 4-9. Mihawk is considerably weaker than the others imo.

I'm putting BB and Dragon ahead of Kaido, but i like the list overall! I'm also not sure BM loses to any non-Akainu Admiral, but who really knows.

LMAO. Has no proof that Akainu is stronger than Kaido or Big Mom yet puts him above them. You also have no proof at all that Dragon > Big Mom. Dragon hasn't done shit. This list is ridiculous.

Sorry im not an Akainu fanboy. Big Mom has done more than Dragon. Seriously, you're putting Kuzan and Kizaru above her too? When she has been shown as equals to Kaido. Kaido who has Doffy scared shitless, but Kuzan was NOT able to scare Doffy that much.
Next time, please start to use reason and facts instead of headcannon. It is unbecoming of you.

Anyways, Akainu and Shanks are the two strongest characters. Akainu has more hype than any other character.

Honestly I don't think Akainu is that far higher than his others fellow Admirals
I believe it was stated somewhere that they were pretty equal.
As for Marineford, to me, it just looked like unlike the 2 others, Akainu was really trying that's why he had results.
Kizaru was ready to go to Wano and face both Kaido and Big Mom without hesitation.

I mean, Akainu and Aokiji had an extremely close fight, no? And there's no reason to think of Kizaru as inferior.

Idk, I couldn't rank them, they're all within the same level to me. That said I couldn't put Shanks ahead of Kaido based on portrayal - in terms of fighting ability. Ideally I'd put Kaido, Big Mom and Shanks the same.

It's like with Akainu and Aokiji - they are practically equal in terms of might. Not sure how they match up to Kaido, again likely the same level.

Mihawk is a Shanks equivalent.

IMHO, Dragon is the strongest fighter of that list.

I would put Akainu lower for reasons i have stated, lower than the Yonkos for sure. Otherwise, its a good list.

I would put it like this:

6. Aokiji

9. Fujitora
10. Mihawk

Yea, cos Yonko is one step below pirate king, and if you get that strong, Admirals will chase you...

Mother Caramel was talking on selling her to the marines and admiral is the highest ranking you can achieve in the marines through power.

I wasnt aware Oda said that about Akainu, but can we really take that into consideration? If yes, then he should be higher than all the Yonkos.

Doesn't seem possible to rank the Emperors or Admirals, as we don't know how strong they are. Whitebeard was extremely strong, but he couldn't keep Akainu down, while Akainu and Aokiji had an extremely close fight. Kaidou has lost multiple times, but one of his epithet says to always bet on him when it comes to one-on-one fights. Big Mom in her berserker mode has also been hyped as extremely powerful too when she wasn't even an adult yet.

Marco was different. His ability allowed him to fight for some time. But you could see his limit when the Whitebeard Pirates failed to stop Akainu.

However, the Admirals had enough power to match Whitebeard. From Kizaru holding his bisento down, to Akainu standing up after taking Whitebeard's quake punch on his head.

To me, Kaido with his giant crew wanted to go to Marine Ford. Shanks and his tiny crew said "no", and Kaido tucked tail and went home.

I really do think Shanks is the strongest Yonko, his crew is so small and yet he's on their level. He's the strongest Yonko, his crew are the strongest YC's. But in a full fight with the numbers of the other Yonko crews it would be a devastating battle for him or them no matter who it was. Big Mom even referenced using the Giants to help her defeat Shanks. Look at her crew, they are full of heavy hitters and there are hundreds of them. Yet she still thinks "I could defeat him if I had giants on my side!".

I also put Kaido and BM lower for the simple narrative reasons - they are going to lose first, therefore, they can't be the strongest.

1. Kaido - World's Strongest Creature, nuff said.
2. Mihawk - World's Strongest Swordsman, nuff said.
3. Big Mom - freak of nature and has shown decent feats against WSC himself.
4. Teach - One upped Shanks when he had 0 devil fruits.
5. Shanks - Mihawk's weaker version.
6. Rayleigh - Dark King, nuff said.
7. Fujitora - A beast before even getting one of the most powerful devil fruits.
8. Kizaru - Almost as good as the Dark King himself, in his old age.
9. Sengoku - If the age isnt an issue, pretty capable body and combat style.
10. Akainu - Dangerous devil fruit.

lol, if Kaido is the strongest, and then Luffy beats him, how does that list change? I have a feeling instead of putting the guy who beat him at number 1, you'll put a certain swordsman. That's why your lists can't be taken that seriously.
