Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

  • For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
  • Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
  • Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
  • We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

  1. Shanks v Mihawk
  2. Hand to hand fighters > Swordsmen
  3. Zoro > Luffy
  4. Zoro v Sanji
  5. Is Smoker a top 30 character?
  6. Mihawk's rank within the story
  7. Law having CoC currently.
  8. Katakuri > Kaido/Luffy/Etc.

If you wish to continue any of these discussion and remove it from the list, you will need to provide manga material as proof. If there's also anything you think we've covered numerous times, let me know and I'll update the list.

This is the only warning there'll be regarding these ground rules, anything no adhering will be removed. So please just check your posts before posting them.

How's Fujitora's power compared to the OG admirals? I feel like he's looked down upon because he "couldn't beat Sabo and Zoro" when in reality he could probably solo both at once.

Okay only one person has said Zolo will solo Kaido but we all know that is not going to happen and if you listen to that guy you're wrong as him. He is not relevant in this discussion thread. You already know who I am talking about.

Also @King Moe, you're becoming like Nik but the opposite, you downplay Zolo so much it is cringy now. You claimed Zolo's performance is bad after taking a Supernova's life (Hawkins), defeating another Supernova (Killer) but when Zolo decides to run away from another supernova (Apoo) because he is carrying a temporarily KO'ed Luffy by the same Supernova in the middle of enemy grounds, you say Zolo's performance is bad. Why don't you knock down Luffy as well regarding the fight with Apoo. You have a personal vendetta agaisnt Zolo.

Now you defend Smoker who isn't as strong compared to other NW veterans and claim he has gotten stronger now since PH but there is no proof he has. There is a chance Smoker is stronger now but until the manga proves it, he is still at PH level. Yet, Zolo has shown great improvement but you think his "performance" is bad

Can't even come up with a Top 50 list because you dont have time, yet you are replying every other post.

Yeah I think he is downplayed but maybe because we haven't seen him fight like the admirals at MF war. I don't think he can solo both Sabo and Zolo at the same time but can defeat them 1 on 1.

If we're talking about power it's hard to say, they're probably all around the same level unless Akainu has somehow grown stronger (which would match his new position).

What makes it hard to rank Fujitora is that he has only been in short skirmishes and he never got the chance to defeat anyone.

Enduring Fujitora's gravity attack was an impressive feat on Zoro's part but that fight looked grim for Zoro. The attack might have taken Zoro by surprise, but it looked like pretty high damage for a single hit, and it's a technique that can be dodged but not blocked (only through full-body armament perhaps).

I bet we also have not seen Fujitora go all out. When he made Zoro go through the floor he assumed Zoro would have died and didn't attack any further. Thanks to that Zoro could slash back, but it's possible that Fujitora could have just kept multiplying gravity above Zoro continuously and that would have been the end of it.

There was also the Doflamingo vs Fujitora vs Law fight that seemed to put them all around the same level until Fujitora summoned the meteorite and both Doflamingo and Law shat their pants (although the fight just broke out without any losers and a while later it turned out that Doflamingo has the Birdcage skill that's able to passively stop any meteorites).

If we're talking style just looking like Zatoichi makes Fujitora cooler than the OGs, even if he does loses some points because his name doesn't match his power, unlike the OGs.

Methinks Fujitora is underrated, we didn't see him go all out or even close to it. Given the performance of admirals during the war, I'd say Fujitora would have beaten Luffy and Zoro individually while before the timeskip, he could have taken them on at the same time.

I always felt that he was nerfed or held back for the sake of the plot; especially when it came to dealing with Doflamingo, or even fighting Sabo. We've not seen enough from him yet but his rank would suggest that he's top tier at least. As such, I would find it very hard to argue against him taking out Zoro even post timeskip, let alone Luffy.

Especially if you compare the three admirals' performances during their appearances, from Aokiji on Long Island to him and Akainu fighting for days on end and changing the climate of Punk Hazard.

I don't believe he was held back or anything, it's just that current strawhat are so powerful that an admiral would need to be extra cautious unlike before. IMO even the OG admirals would show similar if not worse showings vs current power levels

The climate thing was mostly because they're logias. Logias usually change the climate just by being in a place (like Ace visiting Drum). That they fought for days is impressivie, buy even if other toptiers like Roger and Whitebeard fought for days they'd change the landscape, if anything, but not the wheather in the way two top tier logias fighting did (unless, of course, Whitebeard somehow made a volcan active through his tremors or something, but that would be the volcan's merit of changing the climate).

Fujitora's showings are rather "smaller" than the previous admirals is due to his personality, as he, so far, from all of the admirals, has the clearest form of justice, which does not discriminate on your status, but judges you by your actions, but also he looks a bit like a pacifist - he does not really fight unless he needs to. He didn't want to capture anyone after nor during the fight with Doffy. Is he as strong as the previous admirals? Probably not and it would make sense for him to not be on their level.

His DF though is retartedly scary, and if not for other HAX abilities of OP, he would be literally too op for the series. He wouldn't even have to exert force to deal with you, just by increasing gravity around you he can stop your blood circulation and in theory he wouldn't even have to fight anyone then. Rip molecules apart, maybe even play with other forces due to gravity, don't know, not educated enough on this topic. I mean controling one of the fundemental forces of nature will ALWAYS be OP.

By Dressrosa, I doubt that he would even broke a sweat if he really want to capture anyone. Could have taken everyone at the same time if he wanted to, which he didn't.

Came in here to say the same thing. Its not that Fujitora is underestimated, he is simply the only Admiral who isn't out for pirate blood for the sake of some weird glory. The reason Akainu and Aokiji are scary is because of the nature of their abilities, Akainu is inherently destructive and his justice is a reflection of this. Fujitoras ability seems like Laws, seems simple enough but can truly wreck face if needed.

He had so many chances to end the SHs and could have done the same to Doffy had he chosen to. Its a good thing Oda didn't make him a SH enemy like Akainu would be.

I feel like people are forgetting the fact that Fujitora literally lifted all the rubble from Dressrosa and has a Sword of Damacles situation going on for the entire Strawhat Fleet as well as a good portion of Dressrosa.

He could've crushed all of them in one fell swoop before they even solidified their alliance.

And while he was doing this, he was easily keeping Luffy at bay, basically feeling him out to see his intentions.

Fujitora was literally toying with everyone in that arc because he's just a nice, chill guy.

I'm not sure why people downplay him, he proved to be a monster in Dressrosa, and the only reason he didn't wreck everyone was because of having to "follow orders", which clearly bothered him.

I'm not talking about the difficulty of the fight itself, just that I'd find it hard to choose current Zoro/Luffy in a fight against Fujitora. With that said though, I do agree that it wouldn't be a casual victory for any of the admirals against Luffy/Sabo/Zoro; since at least the SH members have grown a lot stronger since the timeskip.

Speaking specifically about Doflamingo that I mentioned in my previous post, the reason I say he was nerfed or held is because he had the power to take out any single individual there in Dressrosa but did not move against Doflamingo, instead letting it fall on Luffy's hands to defeat him. All because he was duty-bound to not interfere with the Shichibukai even though he knew what Doflamingo was doing was inherently bad.

With that said, he could've also defeated Sabo (how ever difficult you want think the match up would be) but cut short their skirmish (I can't exactly remember why...probably to do with Luffy) and for plot reasons could not destroy the Bird Cage....which considering he could summon a fucking meteor, you'd think it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility to cut a cage of strings.

Isn't it a little weird how witnessing what Doflamingo was doing was still not a good enough reason to stop him? Crocodile was apprehended not only because he got his ass kicked, but because he was also the leader of the BW and he was secretly destroying from inside out a whole kingdom associated with the WG, which is literally the same Doflamingo was doing.

Sure, Shichibukai are like real-life buccaneers, but there must be limits even in the OP world or the Shichibukai would just "legally" murder whole countries and get away with it.

It's more than a little weird, it's annoying for me and the reason why I say Fujitora was at the very least held back in terms of his display of strength (though I guess that's the case for a few characters in that arc).

I think the difference between Doflamingo and Crocodile in that aspect is that DD was already a king as well as being a Shichibukai; so he wasn't trying to destroy Dressrosa, rather keeping everyone within the Bird Cage so he could eliminate them before they could escape or outside support could come. On top of that he also had insights and knew things about the Celestial Dragons that gave him bargaining power and was able to use that to dispatch CP0 to him and also manipulate the press for his own benefits.

Was Crocodile trying to take over Alabasta or just using it as a base of operations and means to recover the Poneglyph? it's been such a long time.

The WG turn a blind eye to a lot that the Shichibukai do as long as their actions don't jeopardise the agreement they have and they still fulfill their other duties. Look at Moria for example; if Kuma knew to find him and offer him help( I THINK the WG actually sent him there IIRC), certainly the WG had an idea of what he was doing.

Aokiji is scary? Dude seems to be almost just as laidback, if not as laidback as Fujitora. He could have taken out the whole crew on Long Island if he wanted, but he just froze Luffy and Robin. While he froze San Juan or Robin's Giant Marine friend, he did let Robin go, and did it again after Enies Lobby. I don't think Aokiji is too out for pirate blood (or not Luffy's in any case), but he's still pretty dangerous when serious. I think Fujitora's the same, and nothing indicates he's not on the same plane as Akainu, Aokiji, or Kizaru.

Basically, Aokiji isn't out for pirate blood either, but we still see him as scary. I think Fujitora might be a different case because he hasn't shown fruit power similar to Aokiji or Akainu, or even Kizaru.

I think Fujitora was following orders to a T, but given that Doflamingo was trying to prevent any knowledge of what was really going on from leaking, and Crocodile was trying to keep his activities secret, I'm sure WG had a limit as to what they could and couldn't do. The WG wouldn't risk the shichibukai damaging their image by doing horrific stuff so they'd try to stop them if they could, but given that the shichibukai did also represent WG, I guess the government also had to consider the pros and cons.

I don't think the Marines had an issue with making Smoker look like a hero for stopping Crocodile, did they? I wanna know if Smoker or Fujitora would try to stop another shichibukai or if they'd still not do anything.

Crocodile used the rainpowder plotdevice to make the citizens think that King Cobra was stealing the rain from them, causing the revolutionary war while Crocodile appeared as a hero in their eyes. He also tried to kill both king Cobra and the revolutionary leader Kohza and tried to blow up both the royar army and the revolutionaries with the bomb that failed to even kill Pell.

The marines didn't know about his doings until Smoker found out he was the leader of Baroque Works in the casino. He went so over the top with his Shichibukai freedom that there's no way he wouldn't get his status revoked and arrested. There was also the thing about Crocodile actively trying to find one of the ancient weapons to wage war on the world but I don't know if the marines even knew that bit.

I guess the difference with Doflamingo is the Celestial Dragon stuff, and that thanks to Sugar's power I guess that nobody remembers that he's not even the rightful Dressrosa king.

I think Fujitora was following orders to a T, but given that Doflamingo was trying to prevent any knowledge of what was really going on from leaking, and Crocodile was trying to keep his activities secret, I'm sure WG had a limit as to what they could and couldn't do. Once Doflamingo activated Birdcage and started slowly but steadily compressing its size, he instantly become a mass murderer. I don't know how many citizens actually died, but he intended to keep the cage up until all the strawhats, Law and the rest were down. If his fight with Luffy had lasted hours, which isn't an unusual duration for this kind of high level fights (like Luffy vs Cracker lasting all night) then the cage would have been reduced to a minimun size and everyone in Dressrosa except Doflamingo, Fujitora included if he still had decided not to attack and stop Doflamingo, would have been compressed and cut up by the strings.

We know that Fujitora couldn't contact the exterior when the birdcage started because the birdcage somehow cut "even the phone signals", but I want to think WG would have allowed to stop him at that point if communication had been possible. So if Fujitora didn't attack Doflamingo then would be because he wanted to stick to his last received orders, however, this is the information Fujitora had at the point the Birdcage started:
-Thousands of citizens could have potentially died if Doflamingo wasn't stopped.
- Fujitora himself was in harms way because of the birdcage.
- Sugar's technique had been undone and everyone suddenly remembered King Riku, a king affiliated to the WG, who was now again human and also in harms way.
- Now everyone could also remember that Doflamingo has stolen the kingdom, which is also a very heavy crime.

In my personal opinion, once it was come to that, Fujitora should have attacked Doflamingo. Since all possible communications were down, he could have later just lied and say that Doflamingo was taken down by a pirate like Luffy and that he had nothing to do with stopping him (making the situation the opposite of what happened in Arabasta).

I don't think the Marines had an issue with making Smoker look like a hero for stopping Crocodile, did they? I wanna know if Smoker or Fujitora would try to stop another shichibukai or if they'd still not do anything.
We will never know, since Shichibukai's are no longer a thing, but I always loved how Smoker handled things in Arabasta. He trusted the strawhats to kick Crocodile's ass and went behind their backs to steal a rainpowder ship from the Baroque to make it rain on the war and stop it. He's the one that actually stopped the war, and then told the admirals to go eat shit when they told him they were making him the hero who stopped Crocodile. Gotta love Smoker as a character.

I'm 100% sure Smoker would have attacked Crocodile back then if he could.
