Ground Rules for the Power Level Discussion Thread

As always, please follow the guidelines set by the Forum Rules that apply across the board.

It's important that discussions from a current chapter are spoiler tagged until 24h have passed from an english release.

• For the sake of constructive discussion, where and when possible please quote/ source any information you provide. Particularly when it comes to conversations carried over from other threads.
• Avoid passive agressive posts, sly remarks or baiting/trolling. You can certainly have fun or disagree without it being at someone's expense.
• Only use anime examples that are canon and as means to provide clarity to pages in the manga. Any other anime material is otherwise non-canon and should only be referenced if it can be proved that the mangaka had approved it.
• We will strive to avoid repetitive discussions and any extensive battle topics will be guided to the Davy Back fight to existing threads or new ones can be made there.

As of now these topics are shelved due to repetitiveness or until the manga can present us with material to further discussions:

Sanji did intend to use the RS as a disguise, he had no idea that the suit would have given him a power up in the form of speed, invisibility, and durability. He noticed during the fight that he got the power up.
Im pretty sure the rest of his family dont use their RS in order to disguise themselves LOL.
King > RS Sanji >/= P1 > Base Wano Sanji

I can see Usopp tanking 1-3 kicks from Sanji, Usopp has some durability, we've seen how far he could tanking hits. And Usopp has been able to defeat opponents stronger than him. I could see Usopp defeating P1 through unconventional methods but not in a straight up brawl. Nami vs Ulti same thing.
Nobody thought she could beat Kalifa but somehow she did. Doesnt necessarily mean that Nami is physically stronger than Kalifa.

I think we over blowing that skirmish , luffy didn’t dispatch ulti as quickly as he could in base and was gonna use g4
Sanji wasn’t close to as serious and was hiding his identity , he wasn’t trying to defeat page 1 , defeating a headliner at that stage would be dumb , it would attract too much attention

I don't think Nami took a direct head butt. Both Usopp and Nami ran away after P1 & Ulti showed up (they attacked them and ran) and we see them both later beaten up. We then see Usopp take a headbutt (cracking his skull) and when it's Nami's turn she basically cries fearing she'll die. This is when Ulti told Nami to denounce Luffy and Nami responded that Luffy would be pirate king while crying. That giant dog thing ended up getting Ulti before Nami took the head butt.

For anyone claiming Usopp & Nami had a chance against Ulti & P1 the reality of that fight is Nami & Usopp got in a sneak attack and ran away. The next time we see them they are in this abysmal sate

Spoiler: Usopp got his ass whooped and skull shattered in a single head butt, then Nami begs for her life.

The only redeeming moment of their entire encounter is Nami still saying Luffy will be PK even as she expects to die.

At the end of the day Big Mom beat both P1 and Ulti. Nami & Usopp weren't relevant to the fight. Heck Tama contributed more in Onigashima by being motive for BM and by turning the Gifters. Oda screwed Usopp & Nami in Wano.

Naah, Nami beat Ulti with the Zeus tact. Getting up from the Maser Cannon is a huge feat of Ulti.
We've also already seen the potential of Zeus in Whole Cake Island, so Nami's story arc was fine, Oda finished a storyline that highlighted her identity as a thief and the reward was that she is now a glass cannon capable of performing top tier attacks.

Oda had to make Usopp fail, as his dream relies on him being a loser prior to it becoming fullfilled. He's been too succesful in the New World so far, winning his third 1v1 fight in Fishman Island and taking out Sugar in Dressrosa.

I have placed lots of updates, particularly past versions of characters. I hop people will get my point of view better now, though I am still not complete and will do the remainder of Punk Hazard arc next (in an edit to this post).

Ah thanks for the reminder. So Nami potentially took a headbutt off screen though it's not clear if it was a direct hit the way Usopp got.

Naah, Nami beat Ulti with the Zeus tact. Getting up from the Maser Cannon is a huge feat of Ulti.
We've also already seen the potential of Zeus in Whole Cake Island, so Nami's story arc was fine, Oda finished a storyline that highlighted her identity as a thief and the reward was that she is now a glass cannon capable of performing top tier attacks.

Oda had to make Usopp fail, as his dream relies on him being a loser prior to it becoming fullfilled. He's been too succesful in the New World so far, winning his third 1v1 fight in Fishman Island and taking out Sugar in Dressrosa.

Well my problem is BM did 90% of the work when it came to Ulti & P1. She straight up 100% took down P1 herself and she did 80% of the work with Ulti too.

As for Usopp his successes have been all gags and not actual combat. I miss having Nami & Usopp be weaker then their opponents but using smarts/ingenuity even with gags to beat opponents in a fair fight. Just seems lame to have BM steal their thunder.

I am also positive that Nami is going to face Devon and not Robin, as Nami is just the character with more attention and spotlight, and Robin matches Kuzan best, not for a fight, but for a conclusion to his case.

Usopp will definitely have more in store than just beating Van Augur. I've already said, I think Usopp might be the one to bring down Shanks somehow, as he is the one most likely able to point out a liar. His spotlight arc is within the Shanks stuff for sure, his dad is there, there is the vikings theme, we are supposed to believe the Red Hairs are this ideal pirate adventure romance crew, ...
I know that sounds nuts but "brave warrior of the sea" has to be something special, he is already called a "God", and has done more than enough to boast before Kaya, but it obviously is not enough, the character doesn't see himself there...

But there's more and some of it is really silly but very crucial...
The Nami stuff isn't but it's pretty obvious what sexual toys it represents, such as ... beads (Black Ball: Raiun Rod), or the magic wand that is called like Sasuke's brother but start with "H" (Tornado Tempo), double d... (Grow Up Sorcery Tact), Zeus himself bursts forward from it like a long schlong eggplant with a luscious face ("Grow Up", literally "Grow to Adulthood")...

Money and citrus fruits is the smell of prostitutes, and her zodiac, cancer, the symbol depicts...

Obviously it's easier to understand this line of thinking if you have the whole picture...

Naaah. Zero arguments were given against mine. It is not a discussion if someone writes a one liner and everyone just agrees via likes. That's exactly how Trumpism and stuff works.

Well, Usopp's goal is to become a "brave warrior of the sea", whatever that means but he already has done so much.

Would defeating Van Augur really change anything about him? Would that be a satisfying conclusion? He outran a fishman and then beat him up, he contributed taking out 6 Baroque Works officers, he declared war on the World Government, was the only one capable of stopping Perona, freed all the slave toys from the nightmare of Dressrosa, so they declared him a living GOD, ...

I don't think it's enough. Sanji got an entire arc around his background, Zoro was extensively featured in Wano Arc, Luffy will be anyways everywhere, and for Nami I had another theory (about the Marine Zodiacs), and Usopp, his dad is with the Red Hairs, so Usopp's time is with them.

Now there is ample of reasons to believe something is wrong with Shanks, among them the shitty dad that is Yasopp. I mean they are right in front of Wano country, and he had decades to prepare meeting him, he still wasn't ready? That's some next level shitty dad.
As a liar himself, Usopp can point out lies probably better than anyone, so i think it is possible he will notice that something is wong and stop Shanks before he can throw Luffy into S.A.D. soup or cut out his heart or something.
Oda said only one pirate will appear with an eyepatch and I have some reason to think it could be Shanks, now if Usopp were to snipe him in the head, unnoticed...I mean that's what a sniper should be about, there is no fight, just murder.

I think Usopp is going down the sniper route more than brave warrior route. Ultimately I'm expecting his fight with Van Augur to be an impressive display of sniping abilities. By the end I think he'll get a title like "World's Greatest Sniper" which is something that hasn't been mentioned yet (maybe Usopp will be the first).

Either way, regardless of how they end up getting portrayed in the future, I think Oda missed out an opportunity to let them shine in Wano.

I think Usopp is going down the sniper route more than brave warrior route. Ultimately I'm expecting his fight with Van Augur to be an impressive display of sniping abilities. By the end I think he'll get a title like "World's Greatest Sniper" which is something that hasn't been mentioned yet (maybe Usopp will be the first).

Either way, regardless of how they end up getting portrayed in the future, I think Oda missed out an opportunity to let them shine in Wano.

While it is not 100 % necessary for each SH to have an actual match up each climatic battle, it is usually the norm.

I don't see any contextual clues from the story for the possible future match ups for Sanji-Brook. Im debating whether Devon will fight Nami or Robin. It seems she is too strong for Nami and maybe more like EOS Robin's level. I just placed her there since y'all we're talking about it.

Aokiji might fight the SH but I think he just gonna pretend like he lost or maybe just give the a pep talk with them about his plan and how to stop the BB pirates

I'm still of the opinion that Oda is going to have the two crews match off based on their roles in the crew. If I recall correctly, they are the only other pirates in the series that have had an emphasis placed on their individual roles along with the Strawhats. At least, initially.

Luffy vs BB: Not only are they Captains, but they've been thematically opposed since their introduction.

Zoro vs Shiryu: Swordsman vs Swordsman. Not only that, but Shiryu is completely antithetical to the type of swordsperson Zoro is. He lies and breaks promises and, now, he has a fruit that allows him to turn invisible and allows for sneak attacks. He's completely dishonorable.

Sanji vs Vasco Shot: Nothing to gather from this one yet except Vasco Shot's favorite food is a sherry used mainly for cooking and that his Vivre Card noted him to be particularly dangerous.

Jinbei vs Jesus Burguess: Helmsman vs Helmsman. Wrestling vs Jiu Jitsu, thus grappler vs grappler.

Franky vs San Juan Wolf: As already mentioned, a giant mech battle with the Thousand Sunny functioning as the Mech vs San Juan Wolf just makes sense.

Robin vs Caterina Devon: Nothing much to gather here either, but Robin would likely be a target for Devon based on the latter's MO of hunting beautiful women and I can see Oda continuing the Robin vs Yokai thing that Black Maria had.

Brook vs Avalo Pizzaro: Absolutely thing to gather from here, unfortunately. Just the leftover Blackbeard Pirate member.

Usopp vs Van Auger: Sniper vs Sniper. Nothing else.

Chopper vs Doc Q and Stronger: Doctor vs Doctor. Ethical vs unethical. Doc Q willingly puts people in harm's way to test their fate.

Nami vs Lafitte: Navigator vs Navigator. Nothing else to go on here. If you want a reach, given Lafitte's hypnosis, it could turn into a who could control my underlings better gag with Nami and Zeus vs Laffite and whoever he's hypnotized.
