I see these hints as: the kids keep following the arrow even with no ship there, and fall off the edge as a result. They fall out of Sommers' range and are thus freed from the thorns (like what Robin tried to do). Then Loki in dragon form, possibly being ridden by Luffy, catch them and bring them back to their parents.

Let's agree that Saturn' sin >> Sommers' mistake(s). And as consequence, there will be two different punishment (if Sommers would be punished).
Saturn did what he did voluntarily (refused to destroy Emith and keep it secret out of curiosity and good faith in mind). But Sommers, didn't have control over what happened/is happening (well, he should have shown more "batting" control and throw that MMA away of the ship).
I believe no GK is to be blamed for what's going on Elbaph (or how things will end). There's some events that whoever decided to attack Elbaph didn't take into consideration: Luffy and Gaban being in Elbaph, freeing Loki and recently Brock who seemed to be important.
