Well, sure. But that's not the same as iva being a cladding user. Iva did as well as anyone in the executive tier at the war though I suppose it's possible the next time he appears he is showcased above most executives.
Cladding was just also not really a full fleshed out concept at Marineford, and it was a way rarer trait than it is now.

It wasn't fleshed out to us readers and it is unknowable what oda had in mind at that point. Personally I think oda cheated at this point in the story and actively misrepresented haki to us readers to not give away information before he got into it during luffy's training. I suppose his reasoning could have been something like preferring to not explain haki while other stuff was going on. For example, the admirals IIRC used their haki to stop an attack from WB earlier in the arc. I think we can safely say this was conqueror haki rather than emission (which is what some of us assumed when emission was explained).

**One Piece 1195 – Full Summary (UNCONFIRMED)**

**Cover Story:** Sanji cutting the hair of a horse.

---

The chapter picks up right where the previous one left off. Sommers continues screaming as Zoro’s entire body leaks Conqueror’s Haki. Terrified, Sommers turns and runs, declaring that his life is over. Zoro seems to disappear behind him.

Sommers, mouth wide open in panic, yells at Zoro to stay back. We get a close-up of Zoro’s face reminiscent of the moment he was about to finish Oars in Thriller Bark. A massive blast follows, and the scene shifts to Brook, Shuri, and the others.

Brook tells Shuri that he won’t do anything and points out that she was frozen just a moment ago. Jinbe warns Brook to be careful. Brook then asks her to tell him who she is.

Shuri begins remembering her past with Brook, her father, and everything else. She recalls begging Imu to let her live. Nami notes that Shuri isn’t in pain. Shuri stands up and answers “yes” to Brook.

Brook says that if she were truly an enemy, she wouldn’t feel this way. He admits he couldn’t forgive her for that day… but if she had no choice and she suffered as well, then—

Shuri remembers the moment she was Domi Reversi’d. We see her crying. Brook tells her to take her time and that he doesn’t expect her to explain everything in a few words. He decides to introduce himself properly.

Brook introduces himself. Shuri has a flashback involving Harald and something about turning giants into a slave military force.

Gunko/Shuri reveals she is from the Manmayer family of the World Nobles — a military child. She picks up a sword. Brook asks her what the tears are for, then starts singing. Angry, she pushes him away and tells him not to come any closer.

Brook recognizes the sword stance and tells her that *he* was the one who taught it to her. Gunko denies knowing him and runs away. Brook screams “Princess Shuri!” one last time.

---

The scene shifts to Biblo, Chopper, Saul, and Robin. They have already opened the treasure chest. The Owl speaks about a human named Lily who lived on the island hundreds of years ago, and reveals that the hidden room they are in has existed for centuries.

---

In West Village we see Zaza and the giants. There are panels of children apologizing to their parents and grandparents, who reassure them that they will save them. Road tells his little brother that he will protect him.

Meanwhile, unaware that Sommers has already been finished off by Zoro, Killingham tells Zaza to go to the port because Sommers is waiting for her there.

Sanji is getting completely overwhelmed and, furious, shouts:

> “TO THINK YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN WIN WHILE LOOKING AWAY…!! TRULY DISGRACEFUL!!”

Killingham asks if Sanji is still standing. Sanji is bleeding heavily and completely exhausted.

Killingham continues:

> “—YOU WERE ALREADY DONE FOR, WEREN’T YOU?”
> “NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU TRY!!”
> “THE RESULT WON’T CHANGE!!!”

Sanji uses Sky Walk and hits him with **Ifrit Jambe**, breaking Killingham into pieces. Killingham mocks him, saying he doesn’t have what it takes and that he lacks Conqueror’s Haki. He continues:

> “THAT WAS SUDDEN. THIS IS THE LIMIT OF YOUR LEVEL. THE END OF A ‘BUG’ IS SUCH A FLEETING THING…!!”
> “—FROM NOW ON, THE GIANTS OF ELBAF WILL ALSO BECOME OUR LIMBS… AND THEN, EVERYTHING…!!!”

Sanji kicks him again (his eyes remain normal). Killingham regenerates, calls Sanji a peasant, and says no matter how many times he tries, the result will be the same.

Killingham heals and attacks with the Spear of Life, talking about being pierced over and over by the spear that created the world. He then hits Sanji with **God’s Thunder Mallet**.

Sanji is thrown into a flashback with Gaban, who tells him:

> “YOU SHOULD HAVE THE APTITUDE… HOWEVER, FOR SOME REASON… YOU HARBOR A DANGEROUS TENDENCY FOR SELF-HARM.”

Sanji wonders what that meant… *Self-destructive?*

He is lying on the ground, heavily wounded and bleeding, with Killingham standing over him. Killingham acknowledges how stubborn Sanji is and jokes that his body must be made of iron.

Sanji thinks to himself:

> “Confidence… I didn’t mean it like that…”
> “Dying isn’t repaying a debt!!”
> “GO!!!”
> “I’ll let you bloom into a flower of death right here…!!”
> “GO!!!”
> “I thought if I was the only sacrifice, everything would be fine…!!”

He remembers everything… and he also remembers Luffy.

Killingham, about to stab him with the holy spear, says:

> “You’re a waiter? Sanji… It’s an unknown world.”
> “The lower world, that is. What do you eat to survive?”

Sanji realizes the door to his sealed memories is opening and that he doesn’t want to remember what happened during those two years in the Kamabakka Kingdom. While stabbing him, Killingham asks what’s wrong.

Sanji remembers Iva-chan’s words:

> “Nfufu, I’m telling you♡”
> “I’ve told you♪ many times♪ Sanji-boy♡”
> “You have a serious ‘weakness’!!!”
> “Ah, you’re shivering!!! Hee hah!!!”

---

The chapter ends with the note:
**☆ HOW’S THAT?! A TREASURE BOX!!**

**To be continued next week — no break.**
