i like the second one better than the first and i noticed that the background didn't have any shading.... ?

i think it was a good idea to blur the background slightly. of course, you should have your frame on a different layer, because the edges of it seem to have been blurred as well. oh, and i would advice you not to use pure black for his akatsuki robe, cape, coat or whatever we call them, cuz it merges with the frame, which is bad. and then, keep adding shading and highlights! hope that helps!
