And no, fortunately, I'm more of the chillin' kinda drinker. I don't like noisy places because I'm more interested in what people have to say, really. it's easier to weed out the stupid people that way. :noworry
i feel you. what we do in noisy bars is just relax and drink, its useless to talk anyway, if you call shouting to each other talk. :sweat i love to hang out at simple bars though, you know where there are only five tables and one videoke, kasama mo yung mga tambay. great place for laughs and conversations. just dont relax in these places, watch your back :D

and yeah high school musical manga version, its about to be released this year, here's the preview http://www.s-manga.net/comics/cm_20090204_ri_rmc_9784088568683_high-school-musical.html

Wow. I haven't visited this thread for a very long time. :sweatbunny

How are you guys?

Eh, makikibutt-in na lang ako sa mga recent posts nyo. :sad

I dont get why people like highschool musical...and mama mia...
Yes. We have similar sentiment. I tried to watch High School Musical, hoping to understand my younger brother's ramblings about the movie. But man, I got traumatized. :o.

wow, 21, and I haven't done that. what am I doing?
Don't worry. You're not the only one who doesn't have any barhopping experience. Gosh, I'll turn 23 this December and I am still baffled by the taste of tequilla (yeah, I know I suck :darn)

Well, now that you asked, it's not more like we (i.e. me and other people out there I oddly represent) like it. It's because we as a generation (80s babies, etc) grew up with Disney making cartoons infused with a lot of songs in them, with a lot of performance-style presentation, pretty and colorful looking things, with the very classic themes of love as the core of the stories (think pre-Lilo and Stitch).

Somehow as kids and their intelligence evolved, they made animation/movies that leaned more on the smarter and cuter side (Finding Nemo, Shrek...). Admittedly the stories were more dynamic, more complicated, and definitely more engaging, with plot twists here and there, which kids of today apparently get. :s But take note: to put these stories with more content across in the same alotted time, they had to pull it off sans the musicals, the collages of color and theatrics, to make way for the jokes and cute moments.

So when High School Musical came out, the kids were refreshed with this kind of idea. It was such a no-brainer, with very singable songs, steps that any kid, 80s, 90s or millenium babies couldn't resist, and something that they missed amidst all the thinking cartoons they'd been watching.

Thus *draws long breath* it's not really that people like it like love it (or to some extent, maybe), but my theory is that it's moreso on the reintroduction or recycling of classic style that nobody has seen or heard for a very long time (classic as defined timeless, works every time, etc).

i..i...joined facebook...im sorry hunt.
well there ya go. I won't even make excuses for myself. It's not a proud thing to do. :noworry

Then please explain MAMA MIA! that film is the highest grossing film in this country ever, and was done very well worldwide. Its not aimed at children, and although some songs are catchy why the hell is it so popular? >___>

(personally i blame the women who probably forced every guy to buy a copy just so they can sing along...)

No only the soundtrack gave the movie some life. I hated the movie. And the actors. And the story. And the one who will criticize me.

@BB- It's all WoW's fault... Gonna see how long I can last without it...

Sadly, I've left WoW and went back to my old mistress....Magic: The Gathering...FUCK!

re:Mama Mia- It was originally a broadway musical. Due to it's huge success in the theatre scene, the capitalist pigs in Hollywood decided to turn it into a feature film... They made the right choice. Not only did the fans of the musical buy into it, but so did a whole lot of other people who are either one or a mix of the following:

A. Suckers for anything Abba
B. Suckers for anything Hollywood
C. Were forced to watch it
D. Were forcer to buy the DVD
E. Were curious.

re:Slumdog Millionaire- Haven't seen it, but Hunter is the first one who's openly given it a bad review... I'll take that into consideration when criticizing it.

I won't even give my say. Don't ask for it, imp. Clearly hunt has openly stated that he will not elaborate his distaste for the movie. You will annoy him by asking, thus he will have to *sigh* and type a lengthy justification of his previous post. Yet, by not asking, you will annoy him should he think that you don't care.

So the best solution to that is to well, not care. :p
