well, I'm paying for it so I really have to be disciplined in using that and my maximum is quite low so I can't be really buying all the things I want. my parents are quite, err, liberal, I guess and I think that it's also because I'm the oldest in their brood, I get to have more privileges.

on a random note, I'm off to Bataan tomorrow so no internet...

re: banana-cues: I've never seen banana-cues at 6 pesos recently... They were already at 10 pesos when I was last in UP, and that was 4 years ago.

Not meaning to be a party pooper but I really hate those cards! It gives you a false security that you have more money than what you really have. but then it has its advantages! i was able to buy a washing machine as soon as the old one died on us. and I didn't had money back then.

so i guess it depends. but i still hate it!

@BB- Yeah, the south is slowly becoming very expensive... Only a matter of years before Paranaque/Muntinlupa gets as expensive as Makati.

re:Credit cards- I don't think credit cards are a bad thing, they certainly come in handy when you're short on cash and starving I got my plastic at an early age, so yeah, getting them and being taught how to use them wisely at an early age helps a lot in building self control with regards to using them.

Cards are only bad if you don't know how to control yourself, or if you don't pay your bills on time. Debit cards would be better for people with spending problems, credit would only exacerbate the addiction.

Those grannies and gramps in the States who survived the Great Depression learned that keeping cold cash around will get you through tough economic times more than anything else.

Of course, it does hinder economic growth, too.
