we'll just have to wait a few more chapters. this kind of pattern is like a preparation for something monumental in the later chapters (hopefully)

Kumusta mga Manga addicts, I'm miyi, I'm new here, but I've been a lurker for a while now. Sorry, my tagalog is not too good, but I understand it fluently, and can speak elementary level. Anyway, I hope to have a good time here. Baka ma pick up ko yung mga tagalog street slang, that would be nice.

@bakashijinsan: Thanks. I live in Los Angeles right now. The last time I was in pinas was 1993, so it's been a while. Well, since eto na rin lang, I'll introduce myself..I'm 23, male, 5'5, full pinoy, current college student, studying history/poli-sci (still an undergrad), currently unemployed, enjoys sports (mostly basketball and american football), likes anime/manga (mostly a fan of Naruto), I'm an atheist, a moderate (politics), and I listen to mostly post rock stuff (i.e. Radiohead, Boards of Canada, Mogwai), and yeah sorry to bore you guys to death

anh it's fine. we're all eager to meet more pinoys here and abroad. and it's cool that you're introducing yourself to everyone here.

and how about Nirvana, Metallica, Pantera, Rage against the Machine, Offspring etc.? do you also listen to them? I only know the old songs.


btw what other mangas are you into besides Naruto?

unfortunately, none of the above (it's not that I don't like them, I just haven't had the chance to listen to them). Ok, just to give an idea of stuff I listen to, here's a list:

Radiohead, Beatles, Pink Floyd, Boards of Canada, Notwist, The Books, Mogwai, Sigur Ros, U2, Oasis, Muse, Eraserheads, Parokya ni Edgar, ok I can go on and on, but that's good enough.

Honestly, I'm a newb in manga, I've tried reading Gantz, still in the early chapters of it, I tried reading Berserk, same thing, and I can probably say the same for about 5 others....I start reading and I abandon them...but I've read all of Part 2 Naruto, so this is my specialty.

As far as anime, also a newb at that, and to list those I've seen almost in full:

Rurouni Kenshin (except the last 30 filler episodes), FMA, Kimi Ga Nozumo Eien, Naruto, Blood+, Witch Hunter Robin, Monster (just the first 30 episodes, still need to finish it), and I'm probably forgetting about 3 more. So as you can see, I'm not as knowledgeable as you guys probably are

ok, I don't mean to hog the spotlight, I'll let you guys continue with your conversations.

re: music

to be honest i only know a handful of those that you mentioned. Radiohead, U2 Eheads and parokya seems to be the only ones I'm familiar with.

re: manga

those mangas that you've just abandoned are one of the best in their respective genres. Gantz and Berserk holds the top seats on Seinen Manga. you ought to give em some time and you'll see how great these series are.

re: anime

ok, now here' where you lost me. i haven't watched these except Rurouni Kenshin and FMA. I've read Monster and hell I liked the story so much. Hey if you like Monster, why not try other works by the same author?

does anyone listen to bands like cheap trick, the who, yes, boston, cream, derek and the dominos, van halen, iron maiden, black sabbath, rush, dio, kiss, led zeppelin, deep purple, and the ramones here?

@miyi- try listening to some old pinoy rock! listen to bands like "the dawn", "juan delacruz band", "razor back", and "wolfgang"! Also, IT'S MANDATORY TO VISIT THE LINK ON THE BOTTOM OF MY SIGGIE, AND COMMENT ON MY LITTLE STRIPS! bwahahahaahahaha!!!!!

Yes, I know, reading manga is still a relatively new hobby for me. Heck, if I had manga readily available for me instead of hunting for them in the internet, I'd read them immediately. I'll definitely follow up on Gantz and Berserk.

As for anime, I tend to get picky. It really depends on my mood, but I usually prefer lots of action, comedy, thought provoking detective stuff, vampires and witches, and a tearjerker is good once in a while. I haven't had the chance to explore other animes due to time restraints (family obligations and school), plus it requires high speed internet, and downloading is sometimes a pain in the butt. Or maybe I'm just too lazy.

And yea, I heard Monster manga is really good. You know, out of the mangas I really wanted to explore besides Naruto, Monster was the one that I took great lengths at looking for, but I couldn't find it anywhere. So I gave up trying.

but before I go, The Who and Led Zeppelin are the only ones I'm familiar with (which reminds me, I also like Queen).

I will probably ask you for tagalog song recommendations one of these days. Ingat mga bossings.

Hey! There's a fan of Black Sabbath! Most people whom I talked to whenever music comes as the focus, would always reply with a raised eyebrow while saying "Black Sabbath?!" the only people who I was able to relate with back in college were two of my lady friends. Not one of my guy friends knows who black sabbath is.

BTW, l4pb, know any site where I can download the NIB album of Black Sabbath. The one with the revivals of various bands.

EDIT: I'm gonna go ang hav my shoes fixed first else I won;t have anything to wear later at work.
