nice choice of colors, akala ko isa na namang revolutionary building sa isang middle east gulf state na ipinalabas sa discovery channel

but seriously, you have the floor plans for the spiral and such or perspective lang? can u support such a spiral building? paano internal columns nuon? have you taken into account building codes and regulations? anong say ng engineers? all concrete ba ung exterior? if so it reminds me of the TESDA biolding, the inverted pyramid one.

i remember making the proposal/floor plan for a factory in one of my electives, ooohh and ahhh ung ibang classmate ko. i didn't even use any professional CAD software!!!! MS Visio lang! ung iba nga Paint lng ata!

I emphatize with you 'adre when it comes to the dollar rates since my dad is an OFW for more than my age but you can't blame me for being ecstatic. Just like what TM said, lower value of peso vs. dollar means the economy is good. Who knows, in an ideal world, it might go back to a ratio of 1:1.

re: profs

actually my prof (for whom my innuendo was aimed) has a Masteral degree and worst is that our department head, who also has 2 masteral degrees, behaves the same. Imagine, we created a bogus program for a research and we presented t to her. With a little false maxim and dashing smiles, we got 1.75 on the card! She asked how we did it and presented to her our written program, barraged hr with technical terms and what -not and the bitch started to wince from stupidity.

I did the floor plans with CAD, and the 3d is on 3DstudioMax, or 3Dsmax. You could try sketch-up too yonie. They say you can learn that in 5 minutes. And it just takes plug-ins to refine your model. But I've never attempted sketch up hahaha. Ayoko kasi. Definitely mas powerful ang max. I highly discourage CAD for your 3d. Well, the old versions anyway. They're a pain in the *ss.

If you're talking non-architectural models, mas ok ang Maya, syempre. It's what squaresoft uses! That's what my bf uses for other projects.

parlor design?!

i thought it's for a new high-rise in makati...

well, if you care to read my elaboration, that's basically more of a complex now. The parlor/salon is only the "tower", and the peripheral buildings are massage, fitness, spa, and other related programs.

That's in Fort btw. And it just looks like a tower but it's just mid-rise. it's about 30 m, while the rest of the buildings are 3-7 m high only.

but it's still really purty though!

BTW: bbsai! wonderful design. However, I thought you were aiming for a more idyllic scene for your parlor?

thanks. Well actually, it was more of like, the prof I was talking to was really more into the functional parts of the building. The other prof I talked to didn't care about what the building was for and only cared about the look. They're opposites I guess I can combine their input.

syempre I didn't forget about my concept. That's not just some corporate, for-show thing. The principle behind that design is that it is totally experiential. It has these flat walls at the facades of the outer buildings that barely break at certain points to provide a sneak-peek, but never exposing the over-all design.

The salon being the main highlight of the complex (which is named House Beautiful, btw), should be in the middle. It is the only structure to rise, of course to get the attention. Basically, to fully experience the place, you have to get up that tower.

The small periphery buildings may look like mere blocks on the outside and ground level. But the magic is when you climb the tower, where you see that these blocks will be arranged in such a manner, with "green roofing" (or roofing where you plant grass or plants to cool the building) planted with strikingly colored mass flowers. You will not be able to see it unless you're up the tower.

I am still having a problem with how to make the building not look phallic. See, it's very suggestive that this "thing" is smack dab in the middle of a "hole". -_- However, if I made the tower look more feminine, possibly with the colors (some gradient, or i dunno ) it might escape being judged as a phallus.

The original idea was that it was a flower, symbolizing femininity and stuff. But the design I did for it was outrageous and very hard to do. So I opted for the 2nd one, the one I posted previously. Take a look at this:

mean! Ok so he did the 3d, but I designed the thing! And it's not like I dunno how to use the program, he's just godlike at it and can make it 500x faster than me! Ok I'm being defensive.

Of course I have plans for that. I did it before the 3d. Although yung structural nya, and the actual materials to use, I still don't know. I'll be looking at engineering techniques for that one. But I'm sure that's possible. It has to be!

The concept is still very socially derived. The main idea for the design is the conveyor belt, like some factory, like some industrial revolution of sorts. But it's a revolution on the politics of appearance perhaps.

Moving from the conveyor belt metaphor, is post-fordism, where as opposed to mass production of sorts, of resulting in one monotonous product, there is now a choice. Post fordism is basically the flexibility of production.

If it was a mere conveyor belt in the era of fordism, there would only be one route: one entrance and one exit. However, as I have translated in this design, every building is a different entrance, a different experience, but they are all one "factory" to pamper the 21st century feminine (to be politically correct).

wtf I didn't know I was writing my proposal here! Well at least now I got to really put them to words. It's the first time I've explained my idea fully to anybody, honest. (Coz like i mentioned, my prof doesn't listen to me ) You guys should be honored.

Looking at your design from above, it really does look like a flower , however you need a helicopter or a plane to see that

now, passersby (matronas would see that as ~Aaaah. A parlor with "Special Service" One jumbo sausage please~

may naisip na ako for the entrance thing. sige they can enter and explore but only through the main entrance. Which is fine, when I think about it. The other entrances are already for those who already *know* that there are other entrances.

dapat ganun. pero bawal ang loitering. and the other entrances should NOT converge on a single floor. para maiwasan ang labas-pasok na mga tao. your security is much more efficient that way.

where'd i get all this idea? from observing all viable and probable means of entry/exit from a bomber's point of view.

seriously, why don't you try some open-source 3d programs.... or you might want to consider low-level opengl/sdl/directx programming. you know the stuff games are made of. you must be good with matrix math, geometry and coordinate sysyems though...

yeah maya's the thing! ^^ pang architectural kasi yung iba. Pero yun nga sobrang sumisikat yung sketch-up these days. Btw, Autodesk, the giant who owns 3dsmax, bought maya recently so now it's Autodesk maya, with similar features as 3dsmax.

KTT, my team (well just my bf and I anyway ) are planning to use that for architectural presentations. And we're gonna use that in my thesis defense as a debut, where the jury mismo can tour into my complex I can see it now... They'll all be amazed. ^^

you know Bigfoot studios in cebu? that huge 19000 sqm place, that is my number one prospect after college. i met them at IT congress and they showed off their cool 3d animations, and like they're one of the top entertainment companies in asia.............. i think (you cant beat japanese companies ). its really tempting to go there. and i love to work in cebu than manila. cebu is so clean.... and damn ugly girls are not allowed in the island man! wazzup widat
