Meruem himself said he would never be able to break through Netero's Hatsu without meeting Komugi and playing all those games of GunGi. Meruem is a genius but w/o that unique experience of playing GunGi with someone who was unbeatable awakened a new approach to forming strategies & applied such to his unique battle.

I watched their battle over the words in the anime are exactly the same in the manga and everything is cannon.
Netero could have beaten the King if it wasn't for his unique strategy forming experience he gained from playing GunGi with Komugi.....Netero's hits didn't faze Meruem at all but the King couldn't even mount an counter at first. After getting pummeled & realizing Netero's attack was faster than him, Meruem devised a strategy where he would spam speed attacks, tank the hit and attack from another direction....All for the sake of figuring out Netero's habit or unique pattern and keep exposing it and limit his correct movement. Meruem's first attack he created his own luck and took his leg....After that they both in under a Min exchanged thousands of blows in a fierce fight where Meruem eventually speed attack and Netero missed his strike and lost his arm.....After that Meruem still got Zero Handed then blown up.

Pitou isn't as Smart as Meruem. Meruem himself says He would have never been able to form such a strategy & execute w/o playing GunGi with Komgi...& Pitou's durability isn't on the king's Lv he's much weaker, Kite managed to slightly ruff her up with 1arm......Netero was on top of Meruem until he started to fight back...Pitou isn't going to be able to fight back the same way, so that means..He gets rag doll'd much worst than the King. Netero managed to bring him some pain before he took his leg...Pitou is gonna be mush

If you could link a manga page where the King specifically says: If not for Komugi i wouldn't be able to beat this guy or something to that effect. i can't really entertain that point much.

The King could beat Netero w/o The development. He's just naturally smart and would have figure a way in eventually... even if it took 5x the time.

Secondly, Pitou physically is about the same as pre-rose Meruem, until he started to feast on 'rare humans' and increased his aura quality/limit through his synthesis Hatsu. Pitou brings a whole new set of tools to the fight that Meruem wouldn't have. Puppets, the ability to fight when even 'dead', limit removal, large combat En, instinct on par with Gon's. I don't see how we assume that Pitou would be 'mush'.

At the most. It'd end a draw. Netero thinks he's won, and dead puppet Pitou removes his head. Other than that Pitou is strongly the winner.

Meruem's skill with board games isn't exactly 'smarts' even a RG (Forgot who) was able to point out that The King's Natural rhythm was not good enough to beat Komugi (actually i think it was pouf). So the whole, only the King can detect natural rhythms in objects is a falicy. Even a RG could tell the King wasn't going to beat Komugi anytime soon, and they'd be hard pressed to admit fault in their lord. The RGs are capable of detecting rhythm, and predicting patterns. I don't know why being able to 'predict' became a Meruem exclusive skill. His base stats are so high that he can basically tank everything until he can figure out what he wants to do with you, if Meruem fought like he had any regard for his safety he'd be 3x as efficient on the battle field.

I read the links: Good links. Really shows Meruem's development but honestly it doesn't add to your point in anyway that's exceptionally valuable:

Using your own links, what did we find out? That the King gained the ability to read a person's flow better from playing with Komugi. That he learned to predict a person's rhythm and what they might do from experience with them.

He still never said that it was completely necessary in order to beat Netero: That's a fact. Komugi's 'training' was invaluable but not required. The king was always good at rhythm. Just better with the help of Komugi, he would have won. It would've just taken a bit longer.

Pitou wouldn't need to repeat the performance. She could beat Netero on her own terms. At this time in point, Meruem is the weakest Hatsu wise between him and the RG. FACT: Simply because he has no Hatsu. He has no tricks, he didn't use En, no special aura enhanced anything. That's why this path was used. Pitou has a whole different set of skills and she'd approach the fight differently. But not even Netero himself honestly knew of he could fight Pitou one versus one...

How can something be invaluable but not required? Meruem needed the stuff he learned while playing komugi, the manga made it pretty clear. It went as far as calling it precognition...

Anyways, what exactly is it that pitou would do against netero? Pitou would go into this fight without the precognition, with less nen, less physical strength, less speed, and less intelligence than the king. As far as we have seen his hatsu would not be of particular use in this battle either. The puppets are cool and all but even with those it does not seem like he would be able to match netero's sheer speed. And his en is useless in a fight, its one thing to take hyakushiki cannon with his defense up however en is the opposite of defense. If pitou uses en the battle probably ends in that very moment considering a single hit (out of the hundreds netero can do in a moment) would be fatal (unless pitou can survive a nen attack from netero without nen which seems unlikely at best). Pitou is up against an enemy whose attacks he can't see coming and none of the things which helped meruem get past the speed. Pitou's only chance here is to take everything netero can throw at him and hope to be alive by the time netero runs out of juice. I am not sure of how we can reasonably argue a different outcome.

^ My point exactly.

-We can't say pitou can't see Neteros attacks, we've already established that both Ant's first run ins with Netero ended exactly the same, being blitzed with speeds they weren't ready to handle at the moment. There is no way you can validly say - Netero out speeds Pitou: Given that even the King himself was outsped when he wasn't prepped to fight.

-Puppets change up the dynamic of a fight: Netero was hardpressed keeping a single speedy target at bay, but if Pitou was to use 7 puppets (she can literally control a whole army, with her Hatsu focused on just 7 it wouldn't be that hard for them to move at a similar speed to her) The dynamics would change so much that it's impossible to assume some other flaw in Netero wouldn't be exposed and noticed by Pitou.

- And sure lets compare her... The King beat Netero (Aside from rose) and wasn't giving it his all. With about 80% of his ability he showed... Meruem would've won. In fact just to be blunt, if Meruem was half as durable... He still would've won. More bruises, and maybe a bit of a limp at the end of the fight, but he would've still won. Even if we give pitou 70% of Meruem's durability... That's more than enough, excusing the fact that Genetically speaking the RGs + King are siblings very much more so than the rest of the ants, so honestly their physical abilities would be similar (excusing Nen potential growth and the King's Literally infinite aptitude for growth as long as he eats other Nen users).

pitou's puppet will literally be fodders in this fight vs netero. and you are mistaken on her manipulation ability, her ability can only give out simple instructions no matter how many puppets she is controlling. She even said that morel's puppet (which he can make more responsive by decreasing their numbers) were better then her puppets. (meaning more responsive, more agile etc...) The only advantage of pitou's puppet is that she can control a great number( a whole army) at once.

Netero would anihilate those "7 puppets" in less then 1 second. because pitou's ability with the conditon of "simple directive to control the target by" would never be able to see netero's attack coming much less be responsive enough to dodge it.

It's so stupid to keep mentioning the puppets. What part of Netero's Hatsu being unstoppable don't you understand? It's made very clear that Meruem only broke through his hatsu because of the amazing amount of tactical knowledge he gained from playing Komugi. Stop brining up stupid ass puppets that have absolutely no relevance whatsoever.

We can say pitou can't see netero's attacks. First of all, we literally saw that. Even if we conveniently ignore that by arguing pitou was not prepared for that (which is just plain wrong) meruem also could barely handle the attacks. Meruem didn't handle netero's speeds, he took hundreds of thousands of attacks because he did not have a choice. His only alternative was to wait, figure out a pattern in netero's attacks and land the single hits the impossible openings allow. Also, its wrong to say pitou was not ready to handle netero's attacks. Pitou recalled his en to get into attack mode and had his senses heightened to his absolute maximum.
http://www.mangareader.net/207-14273-6/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-264.html

http://www.mangareader.net/207-14273-12/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-264.html

Pitou went at netero unquestionably at his highest strength (which the manga proves beyond doubt by mentioned his terpsichora activates when he fights at full strength) and mentions his senses where at his highest. So the situation is that pitou at his absolute strongest and most alert and ready, was still barely able to see netero at all.

What puppets? Wouldn't that depend on pitou having powerful nen users available to him to control? And even then, what chance is there of them doing something? Lets assume kite's corpse is fighting at full strength here. So what? Kite at his best could not stand a chance against pitou, odds are even pitou's speed is significantly more than what he can handle. With that in mind, how many attacks from netero can a puppet survive? A single of netero's attacks is able to make a crater comparable in size to uvo's BBI and that is when connecting with the king who presumably took most of the impact. When netero really attacks he seems to have the firepower to level a mountain. Honestly, even if he had a number of kite's at his disposal I don't see any of them surviving a single attack from kannon, let alone a barrage of attacks. Puppets would be flies to be swatted here.

The issue is not durability alone. Meruem won specifically because he had brainpower to figure out a pattern in netero's attacks and predict where he could sneak an attack. That's it, thats all meruem had over netero. Without that meruem would have never landed an attack on netero and it would have been exclusively a battle of attrition, whether meruem sitting there helplessly could take punches until netero ran out of energy.

Now, I am not saying pitou has to win exactly like that... but what can he do? The absolute strongest the manga showed us from pitou, which was in fact his absolute strongest, fell considerably short of being able to see an attack coming. His puppets would be useless even if he had 10 full powered kites which would already be implausible by manga standards. Even if it was an army of puppets it would not make a difference.

Pitou cannot follow his movements..
http://www.mangapanda.com/207-14273-11/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-264.html

Pitou cannot see and react to Netero's attack stance or attack speed..During combat unless your argument is she attains that frozen state each time and the end result is the same....He gets blitzed......Pitou managed to see the Attack stance but not the attack itself meaning Pitou didn't even know what hit him....

Meruem resisted the 1st 2hits, he agreed to fight and got hit with the 100Hand, after that he was hit several more times before he analyzed Netero's attack stance & attack..He countered attack and after that he put Netero on the defensive forcing him to counter the King's constant attack.

So if Pitou can't see the attack or react but at most could slightly follow the prayer stance..How is he suppose to mount a Counter Attack??
We've seen pitou's Full power speed compared to Netero's own activation & attack...& Netero wins on the draw very very handidly.

Pitou less durability, less speed, less power than Meruem...Who Had Raw power vs Uncanny Ability and that still couldn't cut it he had to win with An Uncanny Precog Strategy......We're not saying Meruem's strategy is the only way to beat Netero..But w/o an equally phenomenal skill & ability he proves even someone with vastly more raw power can't beat him head to head so easily.

Pitou doesn't have a counter to not become a Punching Bag for eternity..& if Kite was able harm him slightly the same way Netero managed to bring some damage to the King....Pitou is food in Netero's eye.

Major parameter if this battle isn't set up...But No Puppets won't work against Netero...1) The puppet A.I/IQ were basic, not advanced like Morel's smoke soldiers 2) They don't move fast enough 3) Where is Pitou getting puppets from in an 1 on 1....

Well, when we saw kite as a puppet the implication was that he could use at least advance fighting skills and nen. So for the thread the issue would be which nen users pitou has access to. Now, with that in mind it is plausible to come up with a plan that could work although I don't think it counts as one on one anymore. And even then you would need someone that can can in whatever way plausible deal with netero's attacks.

And even then, among the human characters... Who can do something against netero? To me it does not look like there is anyone that can even somewhat begin to match netero. As far as we have seen I would argue the manga gives us plenty of evidence netero could finish off just about any human we have seen in at worst a few attacks. Imagine any zoldick, any zodiac, any spider or any other high level nen user we have seen. How many would be able to keep up with the royals or the king? In any scenario the royals or the king have tens of times the nen of the stronger human nen users. At least to me it is very unlikely any of them would be able to keep up at all with the ants. And if only keeping up with the ants is an issue then just how would they react to netero? Simple, they wouldn't react, its beyond their capacity. Now, its plausible some weird nen could do something but even then the situation is pretty bad for whoever is up for netero.

With that in mind, its pretty ridiculous that any number of pupets could do anything. The weird nen scenario is plausible but even then it would not necessarily be a fight on the terms suggested here. It would have to be some sort of trap at least where requirements are fulfilled to get to netero. And even then it would not imply pitou is stronger considering it would have required an entirely different nen.

Saying 'Well if Kite hurt him' isn't exactly something that should be valid. Kite got the fodder treatment, dispite not being fodder. He was a hunter that could even find and track Ging (High class intelligence) + He helped Ging in his line of work (which includes combat, after all Ging didn't become one of the worlds top tier nen users by solving picture puzzles in a tomb) and probably most important, he earned Ging's respects.

And i argue that Pitou wasn't ready for the attack because she launched herself right at Netero, was in the MIDDLE of activating her Nen, and was blitzed from the side, in Mid-air, by an unknown enemies unknown hatsu.

I compared it to Meruem first getting blitzed because he wasn't ready either. Both of which are true. If pitou fought him again, knowing that the trail of golden light she observed = a high velocity attack from any angle the light shined from. She'd approach it differently. If she actually had her feet on the ground, and a valid base for movement to avoid the attack... she'd be able to respond different.

And at Genesis...

It's kind of funny because i think the proof you showed actually works against you. It showed Pitou actually able to keep up with Netero himself's movement, but in the moment of tunnel vision and not understanding what her opponent could do... suffered an attack from below she wasn't conscious of.

Kite lost like that because of the sheer difference in power between him and pitou. And that was pitou's first fight, presumably he would be stronger once time went on and got a hang of his nen. I mean, he went there just to see if he was strong...

That is exactly the opposite of the point made in the manga. The manga makes the point that pitou was as ready and strong as he could possibly be to fight netero. And he was still bested. In the time pitou prepared himself and terpsicora netero taunted him taunted him, made his prayer and attacked. The issue is just how much faster than pitou netero is, its an overwhelming advantage. Its not like netero was expecting the attack or anything, its a simple speed issue and how overwhelming he is next to pitou. Its an issue of netero having roughly or even less time than pitou to prepare and still easily besting the little ant.

^ firstly Netero isn't 'unstoppable', he's no longer the world's strongest and there are a good number of hunters stronger. Saying a hatsu we've never seen in full action is irrelevant is quite shallow... That's calling a Hatsu entirely irrelevant especially in this show is exaggerated, so if you can't particularly explain your case without being confrontational and illogical, you take away more from your side of view than add it.
It's a discussion thread, you don't have to be here if you don't want to be, swearing nonobjectively isn't warranted.

http://www.mangapanda.com/207-14299-10/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-290.html

Again I honestly don't get it, Meruem himself 'didn't see the attack at first' and even when being blitzed during the first half of combat he was revealed to have his time 'compressed to the uttermost limits'.

http://www.mangapanda.com/207-14273-11/hunter-x-hunter/chapter-264.html

The same exact phrasing is used: Pitou's time was compressed to the max.

The relevance of Pitou being blind sided is still valid. If Netero's objective was to blast Meruem clear across the sky (As he did with Pitou) It'd be easy for him also. She was mid air with no recovery options, and blind sided with a speed of sound hatsu she had no idea was coming. As well as the angle of the attack was weird for her to experience for the first time.

Is this incorrect? Do none of those factors at all shape the first confrontation?

Assuming Pitou is fundamentally slower than Him is also a flaw. If we assume Killua moves quicker in bursts than HK (which is a whole different can of worms) then Pitou is faster. After all she was quick enough under her hatsu to catch Adult gon off guard (Yes off guard but to catch Adult Gon off guard because of speed in of itself is a feat) and out raced Hatsu burdened Killua.

I think the main issue is everyone being drowned in the sea of Netero's godliness and being floated away by Meruem's approach to him. Meruem himself called Netero's defense 'not that great' but respected his fighting spirit. When his strategy was revealed it was very simple: He'd learn ALL of Netero's possible angles of defense and then slip his way in. But only after learning his unconscious bias and defeating his individual rhyme (He even asks Netero not to lose his fighting spirit until he's done). What type of person looks at an opponent, thinks 'Attacks don't hurt me, tank it until i can figure out exactly how to beat him 100% of the time all the time, even to the point where i can tell them what body part i will take' sounds like someone who is struggling to fight them, and wins only because of a certain experience? Yes Komugi taught him alot about person rhythm. But even before playing with Komugi, he had an idea about how to beat her. Finding her rhythm... only to find out that she had none. He always had that skill, Komugi just helped him polish it.

I only see Netero winning if:

1.) He outlasts Pitou (He is physically weaker, and his Nen compacity is lower)
2.) He is faster than Pitou

She moved faster than Killua.(again, jury is still out but Killua is implied to be one of the fastest chars so far, moving quick enough to have a 'similar' effect as HK did on Pitou and Meruem, but with Youpi and his Godspeed), so this point is arguable, but they are similar speeds for a fact. Which one is exactly faster is anyone's game i suppose, but again. They are similar speeds.

3.) Can adequately avoid over committing defensive actions vs Puppets (assuming she uses any) and leaves a hole in her defense.
4.) Doesn't let Pitou heal (This one is probably his easiest victory with the activation speed of Blythe vs the blinding attack speed of HK)
5.) And after all is said and done, he doesn't fall victim to surprise jack in the box mode Pitou.

I'm voting for this to be locked because people are repeating themselves and talking in circles.
Wheter Netero states I'm no longer the strongest Man in the world...I'm not the Top 5 Nen user anymore.

Doesn't *^%**^^ Matter!

Ging....Pariston.......Beyond Netero have no showings.....None of the So called stronger than Netero characters have no feats or showings..So without a direct naming.....He's the strongest Human seen period! Aside from Gon-San

Netero is Godly....He fought the fricking King & had a speed advantage over him...The Chimera Ants Royal Guard and Up put Nen Masters & Pro Hunters to shame....We seen Meruem learnt games and battle strategically with champions and defeat them in only a couple rounds.......Netero striked Meruem over 2 Thousand times Half of those blows were dished out after he lost a leg......He's fricking 110years.

Meruem had no alternative to hurting someone he couldn't touch but to keep attacking and try and force a mistake, which given Netero's superior attack speed and near infinite possibilities was almost impossible......Meruem with all of his raw power had no other option but to resort to this. If he didn't fight like this he wouldn't be able to reveal the almost non existent rhythm of Netero's attack...he would of just kept on gettin smacked around gathering more and more damage until he fell apart

Meruem had no Hatsu or abilities.....Pitou's only Hatsu isn't an ability that puts him above the King or offers him any range or skill that can be used to surpass Hakuysho kannon.....Wheter he's mid air or grounded...He can't react or even see Netero's attack...There are already scans and feats of Netero proving this......Having more aura or durability doesn't matter because Netero brought pain to the King after a thousand hits and hurt him with his zero hand.....Pitou dies in a long drawn out fight but is handled much easier than the King

I would still make the point that netero was blatantly trolling when he said he was no longer the strongest in the world. To begin with he also said novu and morel would be able to beat him which is an unbelievable lie. Netero would kill 20 of each at the same time without breaking a sweat, there is simply nothing they can do to stop netero's attacks. There are no feats or grounds to suggest there is any human alive that could possibly stand in a direct fight with netero. I mean, even among the zodiacs, ants or zoldicks it does not seem like there are humans that could realistically go toe to toe against the royals, let alone the superior king which basically rules out the possibility of anyone ever reacting to netero. For someone to defeat netero it would require something that works in spite of netero's speed... Now, there are insanely skilled nen users around but by all intents and purposes netero was different. Even among the craziest people we have seen its unlikely there is someone that has devoted the same level of insanity towards nen. Netero was a high level nen user before his insane training, its the reason he went to pray. In other words he would be comparable to the stronger people we have seen before becoming what we saw.

And even then, what exactly can pitou do here? His nen would present any particular advantages against netero, his only option is to best him physically. So how would he do that? Its not unreasonable to say pitou needs a single hit to win (unless he goes for the limbs in which case he needs 2 hits and survive zero which he definitely cannot avoid) but how on earth would he do that? No one has ever mentioned a single scenario where this can reasonably happen...

Pitou couldn't have defeated Netero's Bodhisattava. The reason that Meruem was able to overwhelm Netero is because he was able to instantaneously recover from every attack. One attack from Bodhisattava sent Pitou flying. Even if it took 100000 hits to break down Pitou's exoskeleton it would be totally one sided until that happened because Pitou could not recover quickly enough.

Again, @XXGenesis, it's just a discussion thread, it'll die when it dies, if you're getting frustrated you don't particularly have to participate. I get where you are coming from and I'll make my point as much as i need to, however i won't entertain you getting nippy.

Maybe: But honestly i understand where you are coming from @Kkck and i respect your opinion on the ending of the fight. I personally see it differently and i suppose there is nothing else to it, everyone seems to be getting nippy over the discussion of fictional combat so i suppose we just all have to agree to disagree.

I just think it'd be an interesting fight because:
1.)Pitou has similar speed at least to the King pre-rose
2.) Her combat skills are a different set up than anything we've seen thus far
3.) Her base stats are much higher,
4.) And her similar experience with the first meeting of Netero's nen suggests similar growth through combat if she was to fight him as Meruem.

The most i can say is that we haven't seen enough to give a clear victory. I can see a draw occurring, but i don't think Netero would out right beat her is all I'm saying. Don't know why so many emotions are welling up over a fictional discussion on an online forum.

I am not sure we have any grounds to compare pitou and meruem. All I can think of is context and the implication so far is that the king should be superior in most areas to the royals.

How? Pitou has 3 puppets. The first one is for manipulating others which I would argue means that it won't be useful here. Dr blithe should not be useful here at all. Terpsichora is the only viable option and it only seems to enhance physical combat. Since it enhances physical combat I am not sure of what would make pitou particularly unique.

Than whose? Netero? Well, that is technically true but what is the relevance? How exactly do those stats help him? None of them seems to work to deal with insane speed netero has and the hundreds of thousands of attacks he would potentially receive each minute the fights goes by.

How? We literally saw one punch which she was not able to perceive. That does not point to her having any growth rate. Also extremely important, meruem did not get his precognition in the middle of a battle. He already had it when the battle started. Based on his pre gungi games we can make the case he was born with it and through weeks or months of gungi he refined it. And it took him most of the battle to figure out the pattern in netero's attacks. What you are suggesting is that pitou will somehow learn this in the middle of battle, then figure out the pattern (or I guess a bit of both combined) and then get to netero. I can't imagine how that is reasonable or probable... nothing we have seen suggests in any form or context pitou can do this.

So I just rewatched the Meruem vs Netero fight for the fun of it and noticed something.

Meruem says himself : "His hand movements is the only thing that far surpasses my speed. Such carelessness would normally cost someone their life, but in his case, it may be able to defeat me."

Meruem says himself that Netero actually had a chance to defeat him. Netero lost because Meruem became stronger during the battle because of his experience with Komugi.

Would Meruem EVER, EVER, EVER say : "Pitou actually has a chance to defeat me." ?

No lol
