That's the problem.
Objective doesn't cut it.
If we're talking about how the world rates things, we don't see art or food critics or political commentators, book critics, etc. having guidelines, do we?
No we DON'T.
Now what was your point?
Actually Art and Food Critics have very strict guidelines. Having been in a number of art competitions, there are quite a number of rules and regulations that you have to follow in order just to enter the contest to be critiqued, then add to that guidelines for the actual piece that have to be followed to the "T" or else you risk being disqualified, it's a very strict scene.
The same goes for food critics, from a spectators view, I have friends that are currently going to school for culinary arts that have entered contests and won, and I've seen the criteria that they have to match to enter and compete, and I would say it was more strict than anything the mods here could ever come up with.
The point being if you want to do a scan then do a scan, and rate it how you believe it should be rated. If the mod believes it should be rated something else, then they're probably right as they've seen more and have rating for a long time. The best thing to do then is to ask what could be done to improve your scans for later, not to start whining about what it should be and trying to sway them to conform to your ego.
Holding someones hand every time they start to whine and cry will not make them a better artist, cook, or Manga Editor. Asking questions to try and further your knowledge and ability to put out better quality products will.
Personally I think the rating system should stay the same, or should be altered so that you have to meet definite criteria for scans, no vague areas, that's where these problems arise.
