I thought this deserved a thread
In the manga so far we have seen people travel in and out of the royal realm a few times. The royal realm is a separate dimension from everywhere located seemingly on top of sereitei. It has 72 barriers which protect it. Apparently the royal key works by allowing those who posses it to literally break through and resist the friction of the barriers. It takes over an hour for a recently breached barrier to close again. We have seen several methods to travel in and out. As far as I can recall we have seen the following:
The heavenly pillar. The preferred method of the royal guard. It is merely the means of transportation as the royals still have to use their keys of bodies to open the barriers.
Whatever it was juhabach used to travel. Presumably something similar to the heavenly pillar except without someone having a royal key.
Walking out of the royal realm. Those who do are given at least temporal royal keys (renji and rukia lost theirs as they fought sternriter). Byakuya and ichigo seem to have kept theirs so far. It takes a really long time to go down, seemingly close to half a day at least using shunpo.
And finally, and perhaps the purpose of the thread, the chousenkaimon. NImaiya used this to send ichigo to the human world. He says that it can be opened with a set date of return to the royal realm. Seemingly the most efficient way to travel in and out as it is instant.
So.... Why is the chousenkaimon not used more often? Perhaps it is too risky to use it as it leaves a door opened somewhere for a fix amount of time? Or perhaps there is a limit to how many times it can be opened at a time? Seeing how the key seemingly works it is probable that entering or leaving the royal realm poses danger for the royals. If their key, their bodies, work under the same principle as the key ichigo has then it means every time they leave they have to resist with their bodies the friction from 72 barriers which is presumably bad for their health (perhaps it is one of nimaiya's functions to heal the royals every time they leave and return). And the 1 hour gap until the barriers close again would be presumably set up so that royals can return without having to undergo the same friction again.
Any thoughts? I get the impression there are set rules for the whole thing and kubo has not quite elaborated on them. Obviously they will be set up as excuses for the plot but it might make for an interesting discussion.
