She was a Maiden at that time already ( Big part of it :P ):P
Oh shit, my bad :facepalm
Forget I said anything, yeah, we still don't know what her Semblance is :gwahYou said something last time about her being unable to use Aura to protect herself from Raven's attacks, doesn't that mean her becoming a Grimm means she can't use a Semblance? Or im getting these mechanics wrong?
Alright, she's coming back for good now people, it's decided :fan

I was comparing Mercury and Emerald as far as battle abilities went, which is why I brought him into the conversation :XD Emerald's overall battle abilities suck, which is why I meant the Fall Maiden powers going into her would be something Id much appreciate.
If Emerald becomes the next Fall Maiden I can see a plotline where she seeks revenge against Raven for killing Cinder.<<This would be more interesting than her being relegated to Salem's lap dog like she already is :oh

So was Adam

I'm assuming its fire? Before she became a Maiden that was what she primarily specialized in. Even from the first episode we saw her shooting those fire attacks at Glynda and Ruby from the space ship.
Not to mention these two babies:

I am not sure we have any reason to think emerald's abilities in combat suck. We saw her in volume 3 against the beacon students and she owned them mostly with no problem.

Honestly, if she becomes the maiden I see her going rogue rather than joining salem. She will likely want none of the bullshit...

Fire is a bit vague... And I have my doubts about the fall maiden specifically having fall powers. Or any maiden having an actual specific element attached to her. We saw cinder's predecesor and she used wind and lightning. Then cinder used fire... Then we have seen raven use wind and ice. Odds are cinder uses fire simply because of preference but in reality can use any element she pleases.

From what I can tell it's only her arm that can't use aura to protect itself. The rest of her is perfectly fine aura wise.

Adam completely lost control and charge in Rage ( << Not to mention his a Bull Faunus which is purfect :D )..

Also, Blake uses her Semblance which is great for creating an opening if not using for dodge/escape..
Good point, but his take down was still underwhelming as fuck.:fail
What happens to the Yang rematch now? :notamused

Dunno but how many she was able to control 6 at the same time like it was nothing and yet people still Saying that Qrow would win that duel in Vol.3
.
At least based on what we saw in that duel I would argue qrow would indeed win lol. It is true that summons are a bit of a game changer though, if she can summon something strong then she could actually beat qrow. But the six summons we have seen would not give her even a tiny bit of an advantage. Remember qrow vs tyrion? Tyrion could fight while focused on qrow and the kids didn't even hinder tyrion... True huntsmen are simply a level appart, a weak summon won't make a difference. She would need something well stronger than what weiss has shown so far to have it make a difference in a fight. And even if she wins, it won't change that winter is simply salty because she had sex with qrow and he never called back....

Indeed, adam's takedown was extremely underwhelming. I am inclined to thinking he will escape and will kill illya on his way out though. In which case there will be plenty of chances for rematch. Though if adam fights as he did before then odds are that the delay on the rematch just spared yang her other arm.

I still don't get why Winter, after all, was blamed that she started the fight..

But I will put it that unlike Qrow she's a professional she didn't want to spread more negative emotions and take the blame on herself.

She can't cover her arm in Aura to protect she still have Aura so I don't see a problem with using Semblance.

Adam isn't done yet he will either escape now or later from Jail << He was just knocked down not taken down but considering that it's him vs Faunus army, Blake, Sun, Ilia, Ghira, Police and Kali with a tray the outcome is obvious

I hope he gets a rematch later but it won't be only with Yang but with Blake and Yang..

I don't see Adam killing anyone close to Blake ( I may be wrong ) because it would once again set her character back because she would probably escape or go after Adam for revenge..

Because she did, in fact, technically, start the fight. Of course, qrow did taunt her into the fight and destroyed her bots. But she did draw her sword and attacked first. So when qrow pointed out she was the one to attacked first she couldn't really depend herself. She could have said "but he provoked me" or something like that but she would have sounded like a child. Qrow played her like a fiddle. Just like that drunk night they spent together....

Even if that happens, she has yang close to her this time around. Unless yang gets angry that blake has yet another best friend.

So... no comment on next episode's sneak peak? Granted it's a boring sneak peak but come on....

Were those students really anything remarkable though? I assumed that her illusions worked on weaker people, she's currently dueling both Ruby (and Yang) and isn't making any headway in beating any of them. From that we can just infer that her illusions work merely as distractions and can't be used to dish out finishing blows. Could be wrong on this though, so I'm not fully convinced with this argument.

Yep, she probably preferse use of her Maiden powers over the use of her Semblance. That or she wasn't born with one (<This is a possibility Im guessing?) So her power hunger is to make up for her initial lack of power in the beginning.

Oh, Ilya is posed to die. That's been a long way coming since her introduction, since honestly the character is just a plot device that ties into Blake's morality and her mindset that everyone can be redeemed. Her dying should cause a major shift in Blake's character arc (But no more leaving, already had enough of that with her as it is:-_-)

>> Qrow attack her bodyguards ( even if that was robots it's not ok... )
>> Qrow was spreading the wrong view about how Atlas is a traitors to the whole world and spreading negative emotions in the crowd << And yet later he dares to call himself a professional Huntsman

In my eyes, Qrow has started it because even if you go by Qrow logic he attacked first ( Winter Guards )

The thing worth noticing in the preview is that bunny Faunus thanks, Ilia which just shows that she doesn't have only Blake that believes in her anymore..

Well, they were rwby's peers and it's not like team rwby was ever shown to be particularly exceptional strength wise. Of course we did see rwby fight plenty but that is not the same as them being miles ahead of their peers. Well, rwby might be exceptional considering she was skipped 2 years however I never really got the impression her skills were beyond that of her peers. If anything the opposite, back in school she seemed like the second weakest of the main cast (because jaune is a thing). She never came close to defeating roman meanwhile we saw blake hand him his ass for instance. Even when rwby fought at the tournament it's not like they had easy victories, they barely even won the second time and mercury just toyed with yang in the last fight.

I don't remember if people could be born without semblances. I have to go through the WOR stuff again but the impression I got was that everyone "has" a semblance, the issue is discovering it which might be a bit of a fluke depending on what it is. On top of that there is no balance or justice to what a semblance is so meaning that people could actually be born with worthless or simply less powerful semblances. Meaning that while you have yang's semblance which allows her to go SS or weiss' swiss army knife of a semblance you could also have a semblance that allows you to make red skittles beige when you put them in your mouth. Try figuring that one out...

I am not saying what qrow did is correct. However... qrow did play her like a fiddle. He even stopped the fight at the exact moment to make winter look bad in front of james. Qrow threw a juicy worm out and winter swallowed it whole and then asked for more. Winter fed the troll, that is automatic defeat.

Oh yeah, I guess she has more or less been forgiven. Which makes sense because she just went defusing bombs all through the school, a job doesn't get more dangerous than that. I guess it is all meant to warm us up to her so that it's extra sad when adam impales her with each and every death flag she has accumulated since she was introduced.

I mean, I like how glorious insane nora is and she absolutely is queen of the and all castles, TBH I think she is reading too much into all of that.

For one thing, I don't think nora and phyrra were close "because they were the only two girls in team jnpr". For one thing, people in remnant don't seem to care all too much about that sort of thing. Remember the team's sleeping arrangements? You had ren and jaune sharing a room with phyrra and norra. Add in that the show has shown homosexuality and portrayed it as the most normal thing in the world, it is fairly clear no one cares who has sex with whom and gender identity is a relatively small factor into how relationships are build here. So the idea of phyrra and nora being particularly close because they were the only girls in the team in a team of 4 in a world where there are only 2 biological sexes (even if there are as many genders as moon shards) just doesn't add up. They were certainly close friends of course but making the point that because they share a biological sex they were BFFs just seems to straight up miss what the series' context is. I will take the skeptics approach here, if there isn't any evidence that phyrra and nora were some variety of bff then we should assume they weren't until of course we get a shred of evidence that they might have been. That said, nora does love all of her friends and it does seem like she made the right calls of where to be at. But her being specially close to anyone in particularly wasn't much of a factor here. The only person with whom nora is particularly close of course is ren. Nora is of course in love with ren but even without that ren would still be her best friend.

So... what do you guys think is the true nature of dust? It is a "naturally occuring" source of energy which conveniently reacts to aura. I am getting a FFVII vibe from this. Could it be that dust is made out of human souls?
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Another thing, looking at the remnant map I think there is a hint of where salem might be:

The only place that really fits is the eastern most part of the planet, east of mistral. It's oddly red and it would more or less explain how salem's servants have mobilized over the past volume. I guess the big question is why it's so red contrary to the rest of the world.

It could be I dig it :D

Souls of the ones that have lost they lives return to the earth as magical power and turn into a dust << Totally FF vibes and M&K loves games so... :P

I want more lore on that/Grimms and Faunus origins ( no words " they were on Remnant as long as Humans or longer " isn't explanation )

Charizard is an option ( too obvious option if you ask me :P )

But I agree it's probably that red ( Mountains ) secluded point or my first thought Menagerie Desert..

- Blake in V 4 said that Faunus decide to not inhabit that area because it's too dangerous meanwhile they have no problems on living on Vacuo desert << Which means that this Desert wasn't even explored tbh because before Faunus no one lived here
- When it was around 1 month to attack Haven Salem sends Cinder and Co. to pick up Watts and meet with Raven and later in camp we learn that it's two days to attack... Including preparations / Picking Watts / Finding Camp timeline would fit because it took Blake 2 weeks to get to Haven from Menagerie

So IMO :
- Menagerie Desert
- That Mountains in Mistral
- Charizard ( too obvious and dunno if timeline would fit )

But it also could be ( Judging how Vaults are constructed ) that Salem palace is in another Dimension.

Managerie is a weird place... It is two thirds dessert but it doesn't seem to have any natural barriers from the dessert. Meaning that it's grim population should be about negligible. Either that or the dessert is so harsh not even grim survive there however that would be weird as grim do not need to eat to survive. In any case, given the apparent lack of grim in managerie I wouldn't be on it.

I guess the charizard is a possibility though there is so little information it is a weird fit. The only reason I wouldn't stand by the other dimension idea is that the moon is visible from where salem lives. That should be pretty strong evidence that it is indeed remnant. East of mintral makes more sense to me.

Oh, another thing, I found this video and I never noticed it before:

How brilliant is this?

YESSSS! I absolutely loved that twist towards the end of volume 3. It's probably one of my favorite moments in the series....

I was watching the first episode of this volume and it hit me... I was wondering why everything about the haven attack seemed so half assed, specially compared to the beacon attack.. And the first episode makes it clear, the reason is that salem doesn't particularly care about the haven attack. It is not something she or cinder orchestrated. The haven attack was something adam wanted and salem and co went with it for his allegiance. In regards to haven all salem cared about was the relic, nothing else....

It serves Salem goals as well she gets what she wants and prove the WF that she is helping them with they goals ( Giving away Huntsman data and sending soldiers outside of city made the attack pretty easy ) so they will still be helping her afterwards <<< + Salem gets Bonus because that actions would further divide Faunus and Humans and would make it almost impossible for them to unite.

Meanwhile :
- She probably won't get Relic
- She may lose some of her mans - not Cinder " You hold the key to our Victory " I doubt that Cinder is dead but even if she is I think that Salem did something to make sure that she won't lose powers that Cinder had
- Humans and Faunus are united ( You may call it that )
- Haven will probably not fall and Leo is exposed which means that she no longer will have as easy access there

Which may be translated into " Salem is gonna be pissed as f@ck " and Watts will be like " Didn't I tell Ya "

@kkck I agree I like the description of Jaune's semeblacne and the consequence of using it. Yeah it'll probably be used to make Ruby retardedly OP to fight Salim but at least Jaune would die or be in a fatal state. This episode was great but if Adam and Qrow wasn't so nerfed it would of been probably the best episode RWBY has out put by far.

I wish it had a manga version. Then it would have been a hit.
There is a manga. It was only like 13 chapters but it flopped big time. It was just a bunch of backstories for team rwby.

The show was about skilled fighters that have specialized in one weapon type and have one unique ( Bar Schnee but it was also added at a similar time like Maidens ) ability to them...

We got them that not only are at top of power scale and destroy it ( For example Ilia becomes Maiden in next Volume she's atomically top 5 ) but also the main story is almost focused purely on them..

It's also an excuse to give four Main girls an easy power up to make them OP without any need for training and grow and putting aside they unique abilities... Very poor writing if you ask me
That's my only problem. They barely use their weapons functions anymore and it's just who smacks the other harder. That's a bigger problem than the animation and long pauses. Cinder vs. Raven was epic, it really reminds you off Final Fantasy type of fights with Cloud and Sephiroth mixed with DBZ explosions. But it had some strategy in there so it was probably the most complete fight we got in volumes. The climax of this volume has picked up since the ambush.
