I think Qrow would make sense. She already talked to Yang in the tent along with Weiss and, "The next time we meet I won't be so merciful."<< So I don't think Yang would agree to meet with Raven without a good reason.

Honestly, I see where ya coming from and I understand..
I personally enjoy this Vol. very much and it may even be my second favourite.
Maybe for me is helping a fact that I wasn't expecting heavy packed vol. with action ( Vol.4 was about recovery and this one is about getting back into the fight ).
I was never a fan of just Fight/Fight/Fight for me characters talking about the world etc. brings to the story much more than any fight I prefer things to being slowly explained and not rushed but even here I think that some scenes could be skipped for Example Raven and Cinder talk << I would prefer for them to cut the scene with Cinder asking " Then what do you want " and later surprised with the outcome
We will maybe get a full big fight in Haven but that also means that next 1/2 volumes will be also a setup for another big fight (the Main cast moving to another Academy/ Introducing new characters that must be introduced for a plot etc. it all take screen time ) so yeah after conclusion to Haven we will maybe get 1/2 bigger fights per Volume until things will be set up for another big event..
People are expecting action and tend to compare now every volume to vol.3 which doesn't honestly help if someone set up himself for every volume to be like volume 3 then it's his/her fault to feel disappointment in the end, not CRWBY.
I can also understand people disappointment in how the fights are animated ( I here also feel the same way ) we will see slow improvement here but will they being able to come back to previous speed etc. << I doubt it ( and the worst part that my favourite character is the hardest one to animate in fight and she has to pay a price )
Of course, this all wasn't meant for you or lecture you just overall why I think that people are disappointed and may no longer enjoy it anymore I enjoy it the same when I started to watch it ( maybe even more )
It's not surprising at all I think that they covered the most lore they can give away at that moment without spoiling anything..
When the Full Moon was mentioned in this Volume CRWBY explained ASAP the Moon Phases in Remnants but without giving it's influence because this is lore that we will get probably in the show later on..
I hope RWBY will return to the course when you will enjoy it again ( but hey one of our world law is that you can only please around 50 % of people involved << if you can please even that much ) for the time being have this motivational cat poster.

It could be if CCT travel in Haven won't fall they can send a message what's happening and plant that seed of unity but if CCT will go down and WF will be framed again it will have opposite effects in other Kingdoms.. ( That's why I think why Salem finds WF useful aside of them been meat soldiers because WF framed = negative emotions all around the word against Faunus )
We will see it would feel rushed there are still 2 maidens and 3 artefacts + the original idea was to have around 9/10 Volumes. ( and they said it can be still expanded ) As a Fan, I hope it will run as long as possible but I will be also pleased if we get a decent ending in volume or 2..

Ok, thanks to this thread I found this series. When I started watching I was curious but I didn't expect to get hocked. Anyways, a few thoughts:
Perhaps a flaw at this point: the best fight in the series remains the reverse guillotine bird beheading via cliff climbing from S1. Sure, there are a several other noteworthy fights but you'd think that 5 seasons worth of improved animation later they would come up with some better stuff.
The food fight scene was completely unnecessary but also gloriously insane.
I am not too much of a fan of blake's storyline in S4. It's just somewhat off overall. Does it make sense she was the king's or leader's daughter? I didn't get the impression she came from a life of privilege before S4. Seeing the first 3 seasons it kinda felt like she had lived the whole discrimination against faunist more vividly. However then it turns out she was the daughter of a country's leader who lived in a mansion where animal folk live of relatively well and they don't suffer discrimination directly. Which is not to say the country's dark history isn't worth noting and in itself oppression but still, they live there even seemingly without grim. With that background the discrimination she fought was something she didn't actually witness beyond a history book until either her parents took her outside the country or she joined the white fang because of stuff she heard.That said, it is completely commendable that she joined freedom fighters when she did and also that she quit when she did. I just find her overall portrayal in S4 not quite as consistent as it should be with the previous seasons.
I also found weiss' interactions with her brother to be odd at best. The first thing we see between them is her basically asking why he hates them. And then got absolutely no background whatsoever on him hating her sisters. We are kinda just supposed to accept he hates them. And then weiss becomes angry at him becoming the heir.... but why? For one thing, she was planing to become a huntress. She can either be a huntress or lead the family business but not both. Unless a massive corporation can be ran effectively while beheading giant monsters. And then she was angry at her brother.... but why? The series treated him as if he did something to weiss but he literally did nothing to actually cause weiss to not be the heiress. He just kinda stood around and this fell on his lap. Weiss could have called him out on just accepting but that is not what she did. So we have weiss being angry over losing a company which she couldn't have run if she actually went through with the whole becoming a huntress thing. Why wasn't the other guy made into the heir from much earlier? I am not going to deny her brother is an asshole though. Still, no context on the hatredor anything.
I was genuinely caught off guard when penny and phirra died. With penny mostly because she is a robot, can't she simply be super glued back together or something? With that in mind, I do kinda expect her to return at some point. Either because she was repaired (lame) or because they finally started mass producing. Which would be a great development where we would get to see the cast genuinely suffering. Specially if an all penny army gets wrecked before their eyes. As far as phyrra goes, of course, the battle's outcome itself was rather obvious. If anything it was even beyond absurd that phyrra held her ground as much as she did. In that sense what caught me off guard was that I honestly didn't think the series as a whole had the balls to kill of one of its main cast members. It's a good moment overall. On that note, I can't help but fear that ghost ozpin shenanigans could eventually result in somehow phyrra having actually been saved somehow (even if we did saw her get evaporated, ozpin being a ghost with actual magic can easily break any plot). Maybe I have seen too many manga though.
I kinda want raven to die. Not even because of her agreement with cinder, I want her to die regardless of what she actually plans or ends up doing. Everything about the character is stupid. She abandoned her family to go lead a tribe of thieves. And when she sees her daughter she... what? Dunno, I just don't like the character, her motivation or goals. She is presented as having ozpin knowledge and perspective but she offers none of those and nothing of what she says actually supports her position of not trusting ozpin and staying out of it. I guess that what irks me the most about her is that none of what she has said or done for the sake of survival actually explains how it will help her survive. The way things are presented so far are that if selma wins, she along with every human dies. There is no survival if selma wins, even for a worthless tribe of criminals that is planning to rot away in a forrest that would be presumably overrun by grim if selma gets her way. If selma wins they wouldn't even be able to remain a worthless criminal tribe, there would be nothing for them to steal or kidnap. So... just kill her quickly and spare us more of her nonsense.
Also the best character: Zwei. I just started laughing when dr ubleck (or whatever his name is) used him to wreck the enemy. Yet another gloriously insane moment.
Silver eyes crackpot theory: Selma started them somehow. We know ozpin was the one who gave the maidens power. With that in mind the silver eyes would not only counter the 4 maidens but also ozpin himself, at least when he had the power. The silver eyes were IMO made by selma somehow either to counter the 4 maidens or ozpin himself. Another possibility is that ozpin was hiding away as in the fairy tale due to fear of the silver eyes or even that he gave away his power so that the silver eyes wouldn't pose as much a threat to him. It's also possible ozpin himself gave the magic for the silver eyes in order to have someone capable of countering a maiden if one ever went rogue though. Still, if selma made the silver eye lineage then the dynamic here would be that ozpin and selma are both trying to acquire the others power to their own ends... Which is a good dynamic.

Your opinion on Raven is interesting, I have to admit she is one of my favorite characters in the show but you make a fair point regarding her leaving her family to go lead a band of thieves.

I just spreading a true Cinder we know from earlier Volumes is gone..
Similar I feel towards Qrow and Ozpin at the moment ( My bias towards these two is really tested :P )
@kkck I agree with you on Silver Eyes I also think that Salem is the one that created Silver Eyed Warriors to counter Maidens that was on Ozpin side ( that may explain why Ozpin don't train them with Ruby mainly because he doesn't have necessary knowledge for that )
As for Blake ( I have enjoyed her arc personally ) you are wrong Blake wasn't raised on Menagerie she was raised in WF because her parents were the leaders of this organization and they stepped down 5 years before Vol.1.
Blake escaped House when she was afterwards calling her parents cowards and join WF ( She was raised in it for her it was the life she knew she was travelling with parents from one demonstration to another around the world )
Blake said in Vol. 1 that she was born into a WF and she meant it literally.
As for the whole point, I agree that it's kinda stupid that no one was like " Belladonna that sounds familiar " << Especially someone like Weiss/Winter..
