RWBY volume 5 episodes 12 and 13 are on youtube:
Well, fellow rwby fans, volume 5 is about to end (at least to those who are First members of Roosterteeth)
Was it better or worse than previous volumes? What's next for our heroes and villains? And what theories you guys have come in mind in upcoming volumes? Let's see... \o/

@kkck I agree I like the description of Jaune's semeblacne and the consequence of using it. Yeah it'll probably be used to make Ruby retardedly OP to fight Salim but at least Jaune would die or be in a fatal state. This episode was great but if Adam and Qrow wasn't so nerfed it would of been probably the best episode RWBY has out put by far.

There is a manga. It was only like 13 chapters but it flopped big time. It was just a bunch of backstories for team rwby.

That's my only problem. They barely use their weapons functions anymore and it's just who smacks the other harder. That's a bigger problem than the animation and long pauses. Cinder vs. Raven was epic, it really reminds you off Final Fantasy type of fights with Cloud and Sephiroth mixed with DBZ explosions. But it had some strategy in there so it was probably the most complete fight we got in volumes. The climax of this volume has picked up since the ambush.
I checked it.The art was somewhat "weird".

I said to @Emperor Spriggan that i will give my overall opinion on volume 5 as a whole, so here it is:
Now after watching the last episode of volume 5 i can definitely confirm to myself that volume 5 doesnt surpass my fav volume of RWBY that is volume 3, heck i would even say its on the same level as volume 4, maybe a little better if i rewatch it again, but thats a close call. For me volume 3 is still number one and will probably hold that possition for a while now, after seeing where the series is heading next (probably another transition volume like 2 and 4, but thats not a complaint :smile-big since we are heading to Atlas finally. Yes my fav girls Weiss and Winter spotlight and developement incoming :verily).

Now for the last episode there were some good moments but there were soo many things left to be desired.

Episode 14 Pros:

The visuals were pretty awesome (since Maya software allows for better graphics than Poser) and the highlight of that was the vault and the desert, damn that visuals were freaking awesome, team RWBY together again --> awesome, no cringy shipping ruining the gathering of team RWBY --> thank you, Emerald going bonkers and making a nightmare Salem ilussion was pretty cool, Yang and Raven dialogue was a cool (even though it showed that Raven is a pretty messed up character, i dont like her), thankfully the spring maiden situation was cleared finally (thank you), Yang going to retrieve the relic and braking down in tears in front of it cuz of her discussion with Raven was probably the best moment in the episode, Leo dying like a bitch (hell yeah), and finally Oz ordered to move to Atlas --> freaking yes, i have been waiting for Atlas for the longest.

Episode 14 Cons:
The battle for Haven was all in all lame (it cant even compare to the epicness of the Battle for Beacon), Adam was lame, i was hoping he would put i fight but he turned into a scrub now (so much for overhyping a character), Hazel you should be dead since you have a hole in your body, Qrow in the end didnt do shit through the entire battle (lol he was even pushed back here and there by Leo, fail), the animation was so so, the fighting choreography (i freaking miss you Monty) which is one of the core pillars of RWBY was a dissapointment, that is there werent even full on battles in the final episode to begin with .... hm i cant think of anything else at the moment (will need to reawatch it again).

Now after finishing volume 5 i would rank it probably like this:
1. Volume 3
2. Volume 2
3. Volume 4
4. Volume 5 (maybe even number 3, i will have to rewatch it again)
5. Volume 1

Volume 5 was pretty enjoyable overall, i really liked the character developements for team RWBY: Ruby's dilaogue with Oscar showed that Ruby actually developed after volume 3, Weiss (fav girl) already went into volume 5 crazy developed (comparing her from vol1ep1) and even showed how mature she is when talking to Yang about Blake (go Weiss), Blake had developed a pretty cool leadership role but also she is now more open which is cool, and finally Yang, even though it looked like she didnt develop at all after volume 4 (mainly her bitching about Blake, but thanks to Weiss she finally made her peace with that too), she showed she got pretty far as a character after her fall in vol 3.
The other character aside from Raven and maybe Jaune (though we already know from vol 4 how he stands, he main developement in this season was probably his "semblance" i guess) didnt get that much developement i guess, which is ok since volume 4 gave us that. Oh yeah, and a nice background from Ozpin. I really like his "backstory" (i hope we get a flashback episode in the future) and his role in the verse.

Hm what else ... the villains plan was pretty cool and hype, but they were meh in the end (fail, mainly the White Fang). Also CRWBY team should really step up their animation game with the fighting choreography (dont get me wrong, there was some pretty solid action scenes and mainly the Cinder vs Raven fight was pretty awesome, other than that it was meh and clunky). The music was awesome too, as always Jeff and Casey did a awesome job. Other than that hm i think i have said everything. I wont go further into detail.

Looking forward to Volume 6. :verily Finally Atlas, Ironwood, Schnee family, more Weiss developement (best girl), and more Winter spotlight (a big YES).

So final score:
Episode 14 = 6/10
Volume 5 = 6.5/10

Honestly I found this episode underwhelming but it did nicely tie up everything that has happened thus far.

- I am glad the whole Raven is a Spring Maiden part got cleared up as to how she did become a maiden.
- As everyone did predict Adam got away (surprise, surprise) but honestly whether he did or didn't I did not really care as I am not a fan of the character but hey no one died which was a surprise not even Ilya.
- I liked how the Yang/ Raven confrontation went down, the feels man. :emocat So although Raven is gone for now at least she was not killed off which was my fear for the finale as I do love her character.
- Cinder is still unknown, I feel like she is alive but won't be back for a while.
- Leo was just annoying anyway and that will teach him for getting involved with Salem/ being a coward/ useless :fan
- The Team RWBY reunion was nice and a good ending...glad they are all back together again. Although I am ready for some more Yang and Blake :3c.

Overall it was anti climatic..I just wish there was more pay off at the end of all this build up or ended with a cliffhanger which gets you hyped for the next. But hey I like RWBY so whether or not it had the greatest of endings I am ready for the next volume .

Looking back at the fight between raven and cinder, I wonder if the song straight up confirms cinder is dead. The song basically says one of them will die.

And TBH, I have not seen the last episode of the volume but it is more than fairly obvious this volume can never hope to match up to 3. It's not even close IMO.

Nothing will match it if someone tries to compare future Volumes to Volume 3 and set expectations for a Volume to being as good as vol.3 it's pretty much setting yourself for disappointment tbh..

I don't see Good Side have such one-sided lost again / not that we will have such unexpected events like Penny Death/Yang Arm etc.

Don't get me wrong someone may die but we will not see such scenario again.. But Vol.3 turned for RWBY to become darker which it did but it doesn't mean that we will Vol.3 all over again

I don't want to start a fight just sayin :blush

PS: Atlas may fall for all I care tbh :D

Ok, finally saw the episode.

I am sort of disappointed by how the adam thing played out. It was.... anticlimactic. At the very least blake acted someone consistently with how strong adam is supposed to be though. And was actually smart in letting him go. It is weird that there wasn't a horde of people against him at all times though considering his position and power. He did escape too easily though, he literally just ran away. Guess it is one more of the inconsistencies in the volume. Given current developments I am guessing adam will now join salem full time. It would fit perfectly well with how things turned out and it would be the perfect way to get back at the humans and faunists that mistreated him. His weakness will be exploited by salem.

There was one bit I loved about the episode though. Raven being told of by yang. Raven was called out as being every bit as pathetic and miserable as she has shown to be. A coward to such a ridiculous extent that she would abandon her family for a shitty tribe of murderers out of fear for salem. It was kinda stupid that she actually wanted to get the relic though. She... didn't even have a plan.

I sort of expected hazel to be defeated this episode. The guy's backstory was a disappointment and he doesn't really have a stake in any of what is going on. Other than hulking out on oz...

And the rwby reunion was.... Nothing happened. I figured yang would tell blake off and then forgive her or something.

And the post credit scene.... I should have guessed raven would teleport to tai. It didn't even occur to me. But with vernal dead and her loved ones in mistral she didn't have a choice. Poor tai though. I am also kinda suprised that tai is still home. He is a huntsman that was trusted by ozpin. And he remains home, alone? I guess he could be doing huntsman work at vale howeverit is just weird that he can remain on the sidelines like that. He should have left with yang or go looking for rwby as soon as he could... Perhaps the reason he stayed behind is that ozpin has entrusted him with a job which requires him to not leave vale?

Overall it was an ok episode though it felt completely off on many regards. It is weird to see a rwby volume ending on such a happy note. And so many inconsistencies with the past few episodes... I am looking forward to the gang going to atlas though.

@kkck Hazel may have one more plot point " Silver Eyes... we dealt with their kind before " << He may personally being responsible for Summer disappearance or took a large part in that ( Unless RT will forget about that line )

I am not saying there should be such a one sided loss. However the show since volume 3... sort of lost its balls if you will. We have had 2 volumes of rwby where the main cast has gotten out of stuff consequence free so far. The haven conflict was on all accounts a letdown. The plan was to ambush the main gang and then stop the ambush right at the juicy part for literally no reason. All adam wanted to do was plant bombs on the academy. In essence they were just bombing a lone school. In beacon they absolutely trashed the school AND the city around it.... There were plans to systematically lure grim in. And yeah, the haven thing was mostly an adam thing but come on, it's like every bad guy stopped trying. Heck, cinder even lost her evil sexiness... And not just because she was defeated... she just seemed different. Again, I didn't expect this to be volume 3 all over again. I expected this to be a victory for the good guys. If anything the first ever. But everything the bad guys did seemed so half assed and was so neatly resolved it is weird.

Oh yeah, I had thought about that. I guess it depends on how many people have the silver eyes. I would be fairly surprised if he did kill summer and yet even he failed to acknowledge it. He can't not know rwby is summer's daughter in that case. I mean, cinder knows rwby, they went to class together (kinda).

Another thing regarding the episode:

Why the fuck was the relic taken from the vault? Was that ever the plan? Removing the relic from the vault is objectively stupid. Yang should have told raven to seal the door and walk away. As she did. Taking the relic out is objectively the worst possible scenario. Now when the gang goes to atlas the relic could be lost with fucking misplaced luggage at the airport.

Yang: Erh, the airshipline misplaced my luggage.

Qrow: Whose luggage did I keep my booze in? Was it yours?

Yang: Nope. You placed it in in rwby's. All 15 liters of it.

Qrow: Oh good, then nothing important was lost.

Oz: Wait, weren't you keeping the relic?

Yang: Yep.

Qrow: Still less important than the boose.

Oz: Why would you keep that on your luggage? You are supposed to keep it save at all times.

Yang: Have you seen how big that fucking thing is? Even if it could technically fit into my carry on it is a big fucking lamp that is always shining. Whatever stupid god made that thing didn't put in an off switch. What if security screened my bag? Was I supposed to tell them my magic god lamp has no off switch because gods didn't account for airports?

Oz: How dare you call me stu... I mean ok, where is it then?

Yang: Airshipline says they don't have a clue. They are checking if it got misplaced into a vacuo airship.

Oz: Oh god not that shithole. At least not even salem wants to go there. Have they said anything else?

Yang: Well, they said that they are willing to reinburse us for the value of the luggage and its contents.

Qrow: Oh good, how much does a shiny god lamp go for nowadays?

Rwby: Uncle qrow, my luggage got misplaced as well.

Qrow: NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well bad Guys screwed themselves up by I agree they have made easy work for Good Guys that's why I'm not surprised how the things have turned

Cinder since Vol.4 was thinking only about obtaining more power and getting revenge on Ruby as Watts said that her Grudge for a Child will Ruin WF attack and can screw the whole Mission but she still went with it

Adam could only bring that 10-15 people because he didn't want to draw attention of authorizes before Cinder and Co. finish the job ( which wouldn't happen if Cinder would agree for a trapping strategy Adam could they attack openly ) He planned Bombs and waited later he would rejoin his Soldiers ( which Ilia mentions in this chapters ) and launch full-scale attack but after Cinder will go with her plan that wasn't part of the plan.. <<< Adam couldn't attack before Cinder and others will grab a Relic and he wasn't supposed to draw attention

Cinder and Co. were winning in the Hall but her lust for power drives her to go with Raven and Vernal into the Vault to steal Maidens powers for herself ( Which wasn't also part of the original plan ) again backfired.

+ Uknown factors for bad guys :
- Yang + Weiss + Ozpin
- Blake + Faunus Army + Sun + Police + Ilia + << Blake also mentions that they contact Huntsmans ( Students ? ) << Which was basically an overkill but also bring me once again Questioning why Ozpin and Qrow didn't do anything at all ( Sure Qrow went search for 6 Huntsmans and that's it for a month preparation )

So yeah, in the end, I'm not surprised how quickly it has turned for a favour for Good guys..

In Atlas I hope they have to face :

<<< Without Cinder , Emerald or anyone else throwing there they own plans

@Mononoke it was you that I told that I think that Adam will become mostly Grimm << There's a high chance for that because he only can go to Salem now and Yang still has her PTSD even in this episode so she still have her demons to face
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---
Also, I liked that Yang kept for herself what happened in the Vault which proves that she doesn't completely trust Qrow and Ozpin I wonder in what that plot point will turn into tbh

Episode was pretty good, despite popular opinion :hmph
Regarding Adam,I was pleasantly surprised that he wasn't taken out of the story this early and managed to escape, that seems well in character after how rushed this whole White Fang plotline was last episode :facepalm Him going rogue really does fit his character, I don't expect him to team up with anyone anytime soon (Though if he reunited with Neo that would be :zomg) I'm not sure whether or not Salem will throw a fit over losing Adam, but judging from her quickly disposing off Lionheart this chapter its safe to say that she doesn't exactly hold her subordinates in high regard. They're all expendable to her and only exist to serve as a means to an end in her ongoing feud with Ozpin.
Btw, Lionheart dying was seriously satisfying. Good riddance to that scrub :fail Salem finally does something pro active in the show, and that was honestly worth waiting for all series.
Emerald's despair at hearing Cinder died :scry That was a brilliant scene, honestly mad props to Emerald there. Mercury finally shows emotion, good stuff. It shows that they really did value Cinder even though she didn't exactly have a high opinion of them. Is this a set up for both of them being redeemed? Not sure, though I did get the sneaking suspicion that this could also mean Cinder is not gone yet. If she reappears in the next volume and shows herself in front of her subordinates that would be a good way to have her back in the story. Yes im in denial :bash
The best part of the episode though was easily Yang's talk with Raven. I had expected them to fight following last episode's cliffhanger, but wasn't sure how that would go about since Yang is obviously unarmed at the moment :kappa The dialogue was top tier. Yang's argument about Salem going after Raven if she had the relic was really well done, and both mother and daughter crying as they said their goodbyes was :pout
Really hyped about going back to Atlas next volume, I'm not big on the Schnee family, but yes, Winter is hype :hip What happens when Qrow and Winter meet again though? :teehee
Also, contrary to popular opinion, I think this really was the best RWBY Volume. I know most people say its Volume 3 but I think that volume is a little overglorified as it is. It's good, but this volume had more highs to me. So this would be my ranking of the volumes currently:
1.Volume 5
2.Volume 3
3.Volume 2
4.Volume 1
5.Volume 4
Heck, cinder even lost her evil sexiness... And not just because she was defeated... she just seemed different.
She lost an eye and an arm :8C True Cinder fans know that she would lose her face and we'd still love her regardless :blush

Which is a pretty neat idea as Adam is more than likely going to join Salem's squad, not take over Cinder's position per se but if he does become something like Cinder or even more so it will defiantly give him some of his hype back as in this volume it took a big hit and went down the drain.

I think Yang more doesn't trust Ozpin as she knows Qrow well (even more so than her mom) so I do not think he is the problem other than maybe some doubts, however her not telling them she was the spring maiden could make some problems in the future. Although I am glad she didn't.

-------------
Seeming as everyone else is ranking I will join in -

Volume 3 <-- I pretty much enjoyed everything in this volume as it got to showcase a lot of different characters other than Team RWBY and the finale was one of the best, both leading up to it and the ending..
Volume 5 <-- All things considering I really did enjoy this volume as I like how it took time to build it all up and did inf act give closure to a lot of plot lines it created which was nice. Plus is had a lot of Raven and even Qrow which is only positives for me/ the reunion of RWBY.
Volume 1 <-- The start of it all and I re watched this season a few weeks back and it was just full of nostalgia and reminded me why I started this series to begin with, it was lighthearted (not so much now aha) and fun (still is).
Volume 2 <-- It was the volume where it introduced new characters (Like Penny and Raven)/ had the WF become a major player. Also the one which had the food fight/ dancing scenes (I believe) which were pretty entertaining I gotta say :XD
Volume 4 <-- Nothing really happened except for Nora/Ren plot lines, I do like Nora but honestly compared to the other volumes was not that amazing, I mean I loved their backstory but that was the only key point to it, other than setting up Salem/ Tyrion.

Raven is going to die at Salem's hands, and in her dying moments she will think of Yang and have the power transferred to her.
@Vici Originally I thought Emerald vs Raven would happen as a revenge match and that's where Raven would die, but I think it makes more sense if she was kkilled by Salem. It would give Yang a real reason to hate Salem + build up to the eventual Team RWBY vs Salem fight.

Don't even get me started on the travesty that was Team JNRR:notamused How can one team be full of so many......dull characters?

That scene

Makes me hope (like we were discussing earlier) that she does change her mind and help them fight Salem after her talk with Yang and now that her daughter will be put in danger from taking that relic (the whole point of her doing so).

The ending credits were interesting though with her going back to Tai or at least checking up on him who was too busy doing some amazing gardening....

Team JNRR lost most of its charm when Pyrrha died, the only one keeping it moderately entertaining is Nora. Ren does not do anything (still like his design) and do not get me started on Jaune.

Ah, yeah, gotta give props to the emerald scene. I am still sort of surprised that emerald cares so much for cinder. We saw how they met but whatever it is that cinder did for emerald isn't too obvious so far.

Yang's argument to raven was definitely not well done. I mean, sure, yang was making sense but her argument was really obvious to anyone with a brain. If anything we've been wondering what raven planned to do with the relic and we found out... The answer is nothing, raven didn't have a plan. She is a rabid bitch going after a car and her plans ran out when she caught up to the car. It ultimately went like this:

A WILD RAVEN HAS APPEARED (sound effects):

Raven used sass. It doesn't affect yang.

Yang used A VERY OBVIOUS PLOT POINT. Raven is confused!

Raven is confused! She hurt herself in confusion. She begins crying!

Yang uses verbal smackdown WITH MORE VERY OBVIOUS PLOT POINTS. ITS SUPER EFFECTIVE. HOLY SHIT THIS WORKS WHY!?

Raven used teleport! Raven has escaped!.

To me the volume had the chance to be the best but the last few episodes sort of ruin it. TBH even the first two seasons were more fun to watch than this one. I can't really overlook all of the plot holes towards the end.

Also, ADAM WILL NEVER GET CLOSED TO THE STRAWBERRY CHOCOLATE GODDESS. I could see her returning during the atlas volume with her being hired by watts for crime shenanigans.

For those who think cinder is alive.

BTW, what does oscar say about atlas? I can't get that word... Is he saying to protect atlas?

The ending credits were interesting though with her going back to Tai or at least checking up on him who was too busy doing some amazing gardening....
:lmao
He's planting the seeds for Volume 6, they'll germinate in fall :yodawg
Team JNRR lost most of its charm when Pyrrha died, the only one keeping it moderately entertaining is Nora. Ren does not do anything (still like his design) and do not get me started on Jaune.
The team has some really good dynamics, but that's literally it. Also, Nora is actually in my top 10 for the show :kissbunny But remove her from the team and it loses the flair. Compare that to Team RWBY where individually they manage to remain interesting, and together they're:

Btw, am I the only one who wants to know more about Coco and Velvet's team? :XD I genuinely find those two endearing characters and they make a really good team together, plus their Semblances are freaking awesome :hip

Wait, werent you the one who said that Raven only wanted to protect the tribe? :blink Meaning every action she takes is geared towards that. She gets the Relic>More power> She can protect the tribe better and prevent something like Vernal's death happening again since its painfully obvious she cares a lot about the tribe + her own daughter.
Also, I think the only episode that was truly bad was episode 13, and it wasn't even all bad. It was just the Adam stuff that got rushed, then fixed again in episode 14. Truthfully we spent too much time in Menagerie to be able to focus on the Adam side of things aside from what happened in the beginning when he killed that woman (?), so the end became a mini train wreck. But the highs of this season are still enough for me to rank it as the best one:
-Weiss being kidnapped by Raven
-Yang and Weiss reuniting/ Talking to Raven and learning a little more about Ozpin's 'dark past'
-Cinder's meeting with Raven (Along with Watts and Emerald)
-Weiss's fake death (Yall thought she was gone :loool People legit threatened to drop the show :notlikethis)
-Raven being revealed as the Spring Maiden
-Cinder vs Raven
-Blake and Sun vs Ilya
Also, ADAM WILL NEVER GET CLOSED TO THE STRAWBERRY CHOCOLATE GODDESS. I could see her returning during the atlas volume with her being hired by watts for crime shenanigans.
Then get Mary Poppin'd out of the show again -_-;
