Looking at those images, for reasons I don't understand, made me think about how yang doesn't go super saiyan anymore. She uses her semblance but up until volume three when she activated it her hair got brighter and she seemed to release fire. However now her eyes just turn red. So... what is up with the change?

This also happens with Blake's clone. From volumes 1-3, it looks like an actual clone who takes hits. But now, it looks like some sort of a ninja move

Oh yeah, it used to actually look like something. It would be weird to give that up just out of laziness though. They went through the trouble of getting to more realistic (and weirdly worst) animation... but they give up on the details that make yangs and blake's abilities cool?

Yea, it is pretty weird. I noticed it a lot in volumes 4 and 5... and I think the only character animation who doesn't have this treatment is Ruby.

It could be because of how they animate the show now... but it looks more of they lack the character's fighting personalities.

Yeah, overall most of the main cast seems to have lost something when it comes to combat. Rwby less than the others but at this point I am inclined to think it is because she hasn't had had that many fights in volume 4 and 5 (it has been mostly group fights). Look at this one:

Blake used to be more like a ninja-samurai when she fought... But in her last fight against illya she just looked kinda awkward. Yang lost her super saiyan thing which I still find to be a shame. With weiss I am sort of torn. I don't specifically mind that they are focusing her fighting style on the dance thing than before however if you pair that with how she performed against vernal it kinda looks like weiss is intentionally being a less efficient. Before her moves were clearly inspired on dancing but it... how do I say this... it was more organic so to speak. Before it was like her fighting looked like dancing. Now it's like her dancing looks like she is fighting. And the way she walks annoys me, it looks kinda awkward. Like if weiss forgot how to walk in heels or something.

As for her Clones, it was stated that her Semblance is evolving ( into what we will see ) we saw for example in Vol.4 that she could interact with her clones when she used it to push her into the air or that ( my personal opinion ) she teleports ( yeah I call it like that ) on farther distances while using her Semblance.

As for Yang Semblance, the fact is that she didn't activate it since her fight with Adam ( Her eyes have nothing to do with her Semblance )..:
- Animators have confirmed that they still trying to figure out how correctly animate it in Maya
- But at the same time it also fits her training with Tai to not lose control so easily and don't depend on her Semblance so much

Oh yeah, she used to be a dual wielder... Such a random and sad change tbh. I honestly think they simply don't have the skill to animate her as they used to. Reading a bit about the series i found that the creator ( monty) is very much dead. I daresay his death is one of the reasons for the shows drop in quality... At least i get that impression given that his death apparently happened before volume 4.

I hope they don't go the naruto way with blakes clones...

I did notice that in Blake's fighting style drastically changed during the two volumes. You can see her tumbling about places, her movements are slightly different compared to the first three volumes and her attacks as well. I get that she's holding back against Ilia but she's been doing this for a while.
And with her semblance different as well, Blake is a confirmed ninja now? Charming

But my biggest guess (along with Yang's) would have to be the animation change, even though it's likely that they also don't know how to animate their fighting personalities just yet.

From my understanding of Yang's semblance, her eyes turning red is some sort of a side effect. I could be wrong though.

Her Semblance is her body covering in fire and her Hair glows.

Sure you may say that her Semblance is rage related but her eyes turns red when she is Angry without activating her Semblance ( Dunno why her eyes act like that maybe it will be explained later )

In vol.4 she already show that her clones can psychically interact with others/objects..

There's still a matter of whatever she's able to create one clone and only of herself : Remember when Adam was going to finish Blake and Yang and Blake escaped in that moment we didn't see Yang but people were asking M&K did Blake create Yang clone as well to trick Adam but they say something like " wait and see "

We will see where this one will lead.

What? Yang's semblance is not and has never been fire. Her semblance is to literally grow stronger when she takes damage. That is why in volume two she was able to solo that robot. The fire and red eyes are just effects from her semblance. Yang has never even thrown a fireball.

Here is the fight. See? Not even a spark when she attacks, she straight up goes super saiyan. The fire is just a cool effect. Or perhaps something like her power or aura overflowing.

Ah, ok, I see what you mean. If there are instances of yang using her semblance without her eyes turning red then you are probably right. So her eyes turn red because she gets angry but that is not the same thing as her semblance which is a temper tantrum (as put in the words of the series greatest player, tai)?

So... Has anyone figured out what dust blades are for? Adam hasn't used his for anything and raven didn't seem to do anything with then during her fight with cinder. They did create a huge explosion when they met with cinders attack but that didn't seem intentional or useful. And they break after a few attacks at that. So... Whats the deal?

It's a bit late but anyone remembers the fight in volume 3 between weiss and yang against that atlas team? The point was made that they voted for weiss and yang to fight. But... how does that make sense? At least to me it doesn't make sense that team rwby would have chosen those two. Specifically my issue there is weiss. Voting for yang makes sense because she is one of the stronger team rwby members. And her semblance makes her one of the few students that could solo a paladin. So... how does weiss get there with a vote? The way I see it, people would vote like this (assuming they do not vote for themselves of course)
Ruby: Weiss (her bff) or yang (her very capable sister)
weiss: Yang or blake. Weiss isn't nice enough to give her bff a pass.
blake: Yang most likely (her "bff" very capable fighter) or maybe rwby.
yang: Blake or rwby

Under that yang would have the most possible votes followed by blake. That would leave Of course blake second with a more or less tie between weiss and rwby, I am kinda guessing what their reasoning would be of course but overall that weiss was in the team is just odd. It doesn't seem like she would have the votes. The obvious team in this case would be yang and blake. Even rwby and yang would make more sense (since ruby is the fearless leader).
