Well ep 2 did not look that symbiotic to me But i understand what you mean and i can agree on it.
RT did something like that in volume 3 as well. Remember the tales Pyrrha was listing to Oz. One of them was "The girl in the tower" which could be a reference to Rapunzel of course, but turns out it was a referencing to Salem's story as well. I can very well see a certain reincarnation of Oz taking inspiration about his state of being and writting that very book.

I don't want to sound harsh, but that is honestly a lame excuse for not giving a main character a development. Even if the writers want to push aside her characterization for her more interesting teammates, that's still bad for a show that carries part of the narrative through the characters, and in this part made Ruby one of the most hated characters in this show whether or not she develops well in volume 6.

Having a main character, and an annoying one at that according to most RWBY fans, develop into more than just of their architype MANY volumes later just speaks about her overall. It proves how the story will still move forward without her, like having a brick wall with girls flaunting over it.

The worse part of it is that they always forgetting about other characters ( or hurting them ) when they want to do something with another one...

Quick example:

Blake V5Ch.14 - " We need to protect the school and the people here " <<< Putting aside her own goal for good of the others ( Volume 2 this is what being a Hunstman is about )

Now Blake V6Ch.1 - Fuck civilians I will be mad at Ozpin so Ruby can have her moment

But I turn a Blind eye for it ( for now ) I have some nitpicks here and there but so far positives are bigger than negatives.

But... I will be pretty pissed off if they will make WBY look really bad in this Volume just to fix Ruby... ( hell watch in next episode WBY still being mad at Oz just so Ruby will get them straight in the line )

As much as I want them to develop Ruby, you don’t have to make a whole character arc devoted to that. Look at Weiss, the plot barely intersects with her yet we see consistent development every arc. From how she interacts with others.... From being taught by Winter..... Even escaping her dad. The first flaw with Ruby’s character is that what little development she has had isn’t organic... to the extent that it’s almost character regression. The second is that her character lacks presence since volume 3, and most of her scenes you could replace her with someone else without little changing in the story. She rarely adds value. And the third is how she interacts with the rest of the cast. There’s really no difference in how she treats people then the earlier volumes.

Looking at the relics; Creaction(staff/spear), Destruction(Sword), Knowledge(lamp) and Choice(crown)

There is a big possiblity that the symbols/formal insignia of the four kingdoms are based on the relics.
Atlas - spear/staff on insignia
Vacuo - sword on insignia
Mistral - blue lamp looking insignia
Vale - ignoring the battle axes, underneath them is a roman crown

So if the very insignia of the kingdoms is any indication to what relics they possess it looks like Atlas has the staff of creation that is white colored, Vacuo has the Sword of destruction that is red/orange colored, we know about the blue lamp of knowledge from Mistral and lastly there is the green colored crown of choice is in Vale.

The worst part of it all for me is, like I said, Ruby stands as the main character, which makes it more irritating of her taking little to no development and still have to wait for it after all of this. Ruby practically did nothing to progress the plot and not plant enough seeds to indicate that she may have something going for her other than the obvious. She's also very basic and had bland relations with others.

Had they do the things you guys suggested, it would have been fine or a lot better than what we have.

And even if she's going to develop a lot in this volume, the damage is already done. A lot of people despise her and would be better off not needing her in the team. The fans might call it forced for having this development late.

Unless we have a whole volume devoted to journeying through the snow, which is basically volume 4 again.

Almost all of the characters grind my gears, actually

I don't have anything to say about Blake that's already been said about her. Her development's bad, plotline's very inconsisent, her character relationships are awful, etc.

I don’t know if they can devote a ton to Ruby herself this arc. There is too many characters. We still have Emerald and Neo who have yet to make an appearance who we know are going to be in this arc. True, but then, that can't possibly stop the writers from developing Ruby somewhat during that journey, even if small. That happens in Volume 4 with few characters, so they can do it.

I doubt it but this episode smh.. Raising death flags for him.
