At the age of sixteen Ryo Narushima was a genius and looked to have no trouble of getting into Tokyo University and joining the elite of society. However, that summer something cracked inside Ryo's head. With a small knife he brutally murdered both of his parents only leaving his sister alive and cowering in a corner. It is at this grotesque incident that our story begins.
After volume 19 Shamo changed publishers, from Futabasha's Manga Action to Kodansha's Evening magazine. Beginning with volume 20, chapter count was restarted.
Shamo went on extended hiatus in 2008 when artist Tanaka Akio sued author Hashimoto Izou for 150 million yen. Tanaka claimed he was the creator of Shamo and sued for copyright control. Hashimoto did write the series in the beginning but became progressively less involved after volume four. The series returned in July of 2011, with Tanaka credited as writer and artist. Serialization resumed with chapter 61.
Contains realistic violence, nudity, drug use, and adult content. This manga will not appeal to everyone.
Hi, I recently started reading Shamo. I've read all Edited Mangas released so far but when I looked up how regularly it's released, I noticed that it was released quite frequently up until a few months ago. Does anybody have any information as to why?
This is not whining, I am simply looking for information.=)
