Sama, you're tempting me to both read vol3 raw and to read those spoilers you posted The (untranslated) spoiler images at the end of vol2 were also very tempting...

The top right panel looks like an evil Eren? He's even saying "I'll kill you". Seems somewhat like a split personality. I guess the "something" that is awakening within him has to do with the experiments performed on him by his dad.

In some ways, Eren in the titan killing the other titans to save Mikasa and the rest was like the little Eren killing the 2 guys to save Mikasa. I wonder if there will next be an instance where Mikasa saves Eren to paralleling Mikasa killing the last guy to save Eren as well. It would make for a really nice parallel to the flashback imo.

And I'm totally adding my voice to the "Mikasa > Sakura" side. Mikasa is way better than Sakura in so many ways. She has a much better back story, for one

Comparing these two seemed so weird to me, until just now I noticed I'm not in seinen section. I got here some time ago through an external link, then bookmarked it and that's how I've been browsing this thread since then.

Side note: not a seinen? What the hell . I know these labels are just for target demographic thing but then even more so...

Well, Vinland Saga started out in a shounen magazine

Based on what we've seen of the story, I would also say that SnK seems to veer more towards the seinen demographic. I mean, this is not really the kind of thing a 12 or 13 year old would read But then again it also depends on the readership of the magazine itself. Some shounen magazines, while labeled as shounen, actually have their primary readership made out of much older readers.

But since it is in the shounen demographic, I just hope SnK does not pull out too many shounen cliches

But I thought it was alright as a shounen. Darker shounen are definitely around, and unless they change into an even sicker plot then that is their judgment.

I had the mind to unsubscribe here since I thought you guys were all talking about vol 3 already >.<

I'm hearing you. Only in the last chapter the main protagonist had a stomach that could rival Goku and Luffy's combined .

Another thing I noticed was that if you read from page 13 of volume 1 again, there is this scene between Eren and Mikasa where Mikasa says "See you later", but when Eren wakes up, he asks her if her hair has grown longer, and says he feels like he dreamt a really long dream. This struck me as quite strange, along with the title. Also note that Mikasa's clothes are slightly different in the first panel of page 13 compared to after she's woken Eren up... Is there something we're missing here? If you couple this scene with the title, could it be hinting at the fact that Eren has knowledge of things happening 2000 years apart from each other? A time traveler? Someone with memories of 2000 years ago (reminds me of Omoide Emanon)?

Alternatively, it could be something simple like: Shingeki no Kyojin takes place in the 800s; the Eren/Mikasa flashback/backstory at the very start of vol 1 is year 845. So, I'm thinking 2000 years later is roughly (well, very roughly but oh wells) our present time, meaning the SnK story is a (albeit fictional) tale that is being told to the people of the present about what the people in the past had to go through, how they fought for purchase and survival so that mankind can still survive to this day?

I was reading volume 1 again and i saw Eren commenting he was having a dream but he couldn't remember what it was about, then tears began to fall from his eyes.
Maybe he was simply seeing a sad memory from his past and that "see you later" was part of the dream.

But who knows? (except the author..hehe)
Guess we will discover more about his dreams in future chapters.

About Eren asking about Mikasa hair, didn't Eren tell Mikasa to cut her hair when they join the military? Does not make sense though because that means Eren saw the future in his dream.

Looks like volume 4 will be thicker than the usual volume, it will reach to chapter 19, so reader can directly read the continuation in Betsumaga. And 1 million volume planned for the first edition.

I need to go back and read some of the old chapters, looking for clues. Eren having some sort of pre-cognitive powers does sound feasible. In the more immediate future I am dying to know how he figured out to "ride" the titan.

Nah, it's not yet Naruto level. Naruto has first printings of about 1.5 Million volumes. But it is about Bleach level, that one usually gets first editions in those spheres! (e.g. Volume 42 had a first printing of 1.15 Million books.)

I believe to talk about pre-cognitive powers in Eren is read to much in the manga, since there are no real evidence about that.
Instead, the clues points to him having repressed memories about which he keeps dreaming but can't remember after wake up.

About Mikasa's hair: the simple explanation is her hair was a bit longer since the time Eren first met her one year before(844).

I can't remember how many sold, it's definitely over 2 million.

Any guesses as to how Eren was riding the Titan? The connection to the weak spot is obvious, he was hanging on by the back of the neck.

I like Mikasa-chan, she strong and can fight kyojin very well.

You'd be surprised how many unexpected manga non-japanese otakus read, for example I even read kitchen princess (Kitchen no Ohime-sama) and yakitate japan. As for naruto being the best manga we can agree to disagree, after all different people look for different things in a manga, I would take a Naoki Urusawa-sensei manga or a Fukumoto Nobuyuki-sensei manga over naruto any day of the week. I agree that Naruto has some characteristics that people may like but for me nothing beats a dark plot and a well made story. In my humble opinion the best manga ever would have to be Angel Sanctuary (Tenshi Kinryouku) by Kaori Yuki-sensei or Devilman by Nagai Go-sensei 3rd spot I guess goes to berserk by Miura Kentarou-sensei
