You know, I find it weird...A lot of people, especially anime-only viewers, are laughing at the way the Female Titan killed those soldiers in episode 18....Even my dad was laughing. I guess it wasn't as creepy as it was in the manga??

Really? I found it horrifying and so did several people on the other site where I talk with folks about SnK. But that's typical for people to enjoy "gore" in anime. I'll never get it myself, but I know a lot of people do. (Actually I technically don't consider this gore personally, as I tend to see that as plotless, overall pointless violence while this isn't, but to the most extreme people who enjoy violence for the sake of violence, I don't see it making much difference.)

Sometimes I laugh when regular titans are killing humans but I didn't laugh there. I didn't find it particularly creepy too. It's like...killing bugs.

If you listen to the soundtrack, it seems like they're instilling a sense of hopelessness during those scenes in the anime. But they didn't overdo it, so I imagine your reaction's along the lines of what they were hoping for (probably). And her face is expressionless (default expression-- that sort of creepy, smile-like look) the whole while, so soldiers don't even know how she feels, really.

Yup! Our dad pretty much watches anything that catches his eye, say like Hunter x Hunter or Space Brothers. It's probably because he used to watch anime when he was a kid...but this is kinda a bit off-topic already XD.

I know right? But maybe some people aren't really affected with the soundtrack and all, unless it's really intensely scary like when the Female Titan suddenly jumped out of nowhere in the forest of giants...?
Though I'm pretty sure in the manga, she looked like she was smiling while she was killing those soldiers. In the anime, it looked a bit different. Like you said, expressionless. Maybe one of the reasons as to why some people weren't horrified about it? Cause it really did seem like she was enjoying the way she killed those soldiers, at least in the manga unlike the anime.

Now this kind of reminds with what Bertolt just said in Chapter 48. XD. When he said who wants to kill people, I was really thinking of Annie at that moment. Even though Annie is my favorite. T^T

I wasn't really creeped out while watching Female Titan, but the first episodes of SnK absolutely killed me. I was so terrified from them, exactly because of the hopelessness effect. You just feel like you can do nothing. In the end, all you end up doing is being eaten.

Exactly these two scenes. I feel cruel to watch it again and again and again and again but they're just soooo well produced in all aspects :P I can't help but to loop those bits lol.
The music is a brilliant compliment to the scenes, too. Really sends a chill down your spine.

That was actually the most impressionistic panel when I first read the chapter

You know, I don't have problem with fanservice as long as it doesn't permeate to the manga. On the other hand, I hope their new clothes for the game are extra and people can choose the default manga costumes.

Of course, it's Isayama. he always knows how to draw a great Mikasa facial expression. Isayama-sensei seems to make sure that she always leaves a distinct facial expression every time she doesn't get what she wants. And this is one of them.

The latter so much. After they got out of training and on their mission, I was so hopeful that finally, they can kill those titans. They can do something about this problem. Then that guy jumped and omnomnom'd on Eren and that was the end of that...

Loved that panel as well. You could see that Berths plea got to her, and she was calmly asking him to give Eren back, then turning back into an all-kill mode after he refused again.

And I just realized I kept my gender hidden. I also don't feel like telling it either. Yup. So much for being a Hange fan. At least with Hange, through the anime, we get to confirm she's female. XD

Interesting. And that's funny, I was thinking of posting this image of Isayama. I wonder if his 'titan act' is a reaction to comments that he's an 'herbivore?'

Ahahaha... that face is the scariest thing about her. She's a great expert in intimidation, that one. She could easily replace Keith as drill sergeant at the training academy some day.

Hmm, I just noticed.. They were trying to get Annie to go into that underground tunnel to capture her, presumably cause she wouldn't be able to transform if she's underground. But Eren didn't have much trouble with that now didn't he?

I noticed that right away and it's irritated me every time I remembered it since then. The only possible explanation so far is what Ymir and RB were talking about with regard to some titans being active at night. Perhaps Eren instinctively knows he has that ability? Still, I always wondered if it was really the lack of willpower or the darkness that prevented his transformation while he was in that well for Hange's experiment. Wanting to grab a spoon making his arm change seemed kind of random. But he was getting a lot more light at the time.
