Has an Anime, but not following the true Story of Alternative.They wouldn't be able to make an Anime out of Alternative anyway due to it's content.

This one is even better and IMO shows perfectly that SnK was inspired by it.

Annie = Ayamine.They hardly could be more similar without plagiarizing.Anti-Social Types who excel at Martial Arts with a Traitor Theme having Signature moves that lay people on their backs and having a motive to do with their Father.
Scouting Legion = the Valkyries.The Unit that confront the Beta directly for extermination and gathering knowledge having a major casualty rate.Their Leader Isumi applauds sacrifice if Humanity benefits from it, even if it means abandoning her comrades.The "Newbies" join this Unit after an attack on their Base by the Beta.
Titans = Beta
Takerus Power = Erens Power (The Memory Thing).

Hell, Alternative even begins with Takeru waking up from sleep into a World where Humanity is near defeat against this mysterious freaky looking dumb man eating race they have little to no knowledge about.

Even the whole stuff with the odd lack of technology exists.They have TFS's, Battle Robots, but they don't have stuff like Game Boys in 2001.

I mean for march. It was either the main story or the levi spin off but I heard one of them were having an extra release for march.

I don't know about the Levi spin-off (anyone hear anything about this?) but the last volume of the main series was released months ago. In March, people were talking about the extras for volume 13 though, which just came out this month (as did the 2nd OVA, with a 3rd OVA now apparently due soon). So long story short, people were talking about what is now called "chapter 51.5" in March.

I was wondering, as of today, there are 4 known visual novels (Mikasa, Levi & Erwin, Levi & Eren and Annie) and 2 light novels (Before the fall and an incoming one).

Did we ever get translations or more informations on them?

Wow...finally I'm done...

Just started reading the manga yesterday and I am blown away...

I am guessing the anti-3D Movement squad has modern technology rather than advanced weapons that depend on physics and movements.

Regardless, this series has a tremendous amount of potential...a lot more than 40 volumes...

After all, the main thing behind learning of the origin of Titans would be by overthrowing the current monarchy first. Then, retake Wall Maria and see what is in the basement.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are other human settlements in the world. The current one, to me, can only be located somewhere in Siberia should the RW be based on it.

Knowing what we know so far, I expect the only things that will be found in the basement is the reasons Eren's father left so long ago. He probably started suspecting the royal family's involvement in this.

Hands down, my favorite character has been Levi...

I am glad I don't have to worry about BS stalling tactics on the plot, stupid-ass rules (women can't be hit or harmed, etc) or asspulls that accomodate the plot...

I feel exactly the same way! I finished watching the anime and just couldn't get enough of it... So I started reading the manga back from chapter 1 (just to be sure I didn't miss any vital details) and here I am waiting for chapter 58 ahah. The only problem is it's only a chapter a month :/ but yeah I do agree that there are plenty of directions the manga could go in, which is always good for the readers.
There are 2 known other settlements from beyond the wall, the first being where RBA are from which is referred to as the hometown. And there is also wherever Ymir comes from too.
Also in the basement could be some kind of clue to the titans origins.

When is chapter 58 out, any ideas?

New chapters typically appear around the 4th to the 6th-ish of each month, but you might as well start watching from the 3rd.

"Ilse's Notebook" is from the main series (chapter 18.5 I believe), not a spin-off. We have stuck threads for the two manga spin-offs that are relatively well known, and there are some visual novels as well (off the top of my head, one for Annie, one for Mikasa, and the one the Levi manga spin-off is based on). Apologies if I missed one or two-- I'm tryin to get all of these compiled into a special thread eventually...

It's impressive, the boost the anime gave (!), but SNK doesn't actually dominate if we look at sales on a volume-by-volume basis. I hope it keeps doing well though. :')

Regardless, this series has a tremendous amount of potential...a lot more than 40 volumes...

The author announced a long time ago he planned on having the series be around 20 volumes = 80 chapters so around 2-3 years left (considering there are 4 chapters per volume)
