If you have never read Manhwa's then I would definately encourage you to read a few.
Currently I am reading East Coast by KIM Jea-Eun, which has a modern feel to it.
I'd recommend that you also consider reading Hot Blooded Woman. Ofcouse that mangaka's previous works incluse Legend of Nereid, which I think was a really good read.

To answer the previous question. Vanilla Ice is on Hiatus since 2004 because the mangaka is not well. Since its been such a long time, the prospects dont look good. Its a shame though. I really want more of this manga!

Well I'd say Vampire Knight and Skip Beat! Is pretty good. It depends on what kind of Shoujo/Josei you want to read.



Haha, you're not the only one! I think that there's a lot of guys who're reading this genre, tho not admitting it since it's after all, primary made for girls. *damn you segregation*
I'll try out AAA, haven't even heard of it before Tho I've read "7th Period is a Secret" and it was really good If they're any similar I'm sure I'll like it.

well i wouldnt call them that similar but AAA is so happy.. so warm like those love-fevers from the school times

Otomen comes to mind. It's about a metrosexual who falls for a girl who likes macho guys. A very good, funny series. It has become one of the most popular shojo in America. Pretty much every series Comic Zero Sum have male protagonists.

Is there a thread around here for Shinobi Life? I just picked up volume 1 and then read everything that has been released by Manga Editors. It's really really good but i haven't seen or heard much about it. I'm kind of interested what others think of it because it doesn't seem very popular, but heck, I would go so far as to say I like it more than Vampire Knight.

I read Fetish, a collection of five short stories about the psychology of obsession last night. Fetish was maybe the darkest manga I've ever read, and one of the most disturbing. Brilliantly dissected the idea of fetish and obsession, how an individuals real emotion is displaced to objects, memories, and fantasies.

I started Kabocha to Mayonnaise last night and read Water. a two chapter josei/shojo ai manga by the same author.

Well anyway, I like reading obsessive love and stuff, that's why I like Nana so much. ahehe. Sometimes when I read shoujo and they're all queasy about holding hands or kissing I can't stand it. Then again, I'm no longer in high school, so...

oi guys,

i'd come across this manga about two years ago. It's a very good manga, IMO. No wonder, because it won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 1988.

I'm just so frustrated that there are only 5 chapters available on the net, and good luck with me ever finding hard copies of this. I'd just like to share this manga with you guys.

Boyfriend. It actually shares a common title with another manga, but this one, you'll know because it's so 80s, the art. But I love the storytelling very much. I hope you guys enjoy this, and maybe come across someone who has scans??

New series to check out: Kuragehime, winner of the 2010 Kodansha Award for shojo/josei. Give it a try, chapter one was great! Comment in the thread when you're done. The anime debuted in Japan last night, raws came out today.

I not read much Shoujo be cause it is for girls!!! But I read Kaichou wa Maid-sama! and Suki-tte Ii na yo. Very good mangas

Hello, guys!

Anyone loves to read josei? I'm thinking to read some short josei series (short being 2-3 volumes). Anyone can suggest me some titles? I haven't read too many josei, and would love to know more about it. What makes josei interesting to me is that it usually has some slice of life element in it. It might not be as cheesy as shoujo (lol) but it can still conveys great messages to the readers.

What about you? :3

I love reading josei. Because it's less whiny, and less diva-ish than shoujo. ehehehe. There's the element of reality there somewhere, like jobs and the mundane things in life.

One very good series I really loved, not too short but just 8 volumes anyway, is Kimi Wa Petto. As an extra tidbit, besides it being made into a hit Jdrama, Korea is picking it up as a drama this year too. So maybe you might wanna check that out. ^^


Still, even if shoujo series can be about self-centered girls, sometimes I'm just really in the mood for shoujo because it doesn't require me to think too much. And I like the giddy, waffy feeling sometimes. All about crushes and youth and first loves.

Yeah. Reading one cute shoujo or lively josei after reading some fantasy, adventure, magical series is such a great refreshing for me. XD I found myself back to fan-girling mode over handsome boys or cute girls and the cheesy love story it may have.

I thought Kimi wa Petto has a K-drama already? XD Eight volumes might be a bit too much for me at the moment (still reading Skip Beat! with that many volumes and chapters) but thanks for the suggestion!

Bride of the Water God (Manhwa)
Parfait Tic - I think this is already finished but the scans aren't all out yet. *cough cough*
Goong (Manwha)
Boyfriend - is also an old shoujo series (that won an award, FYI) in the eighties but groups Editing this always drop after a chapter for some reason. Here's to hoping another group will continue it... *crosses fingers*
NANA - in the hopes that the mangaka will still finish this project
Girl in Heels (Manwha) - I hope the Manga Editor group doesn't drop this. There have been no chapters out for quite a while now.
Watashi no Megane-kun - another old series that I'm hoping someone will pick up after the very few chapters that have been scanlated
