Sounds cool! I haven't been able to check it out... If it follows after Kimi ni Todoke and Nodame Cantabile (?) then it must be a blast.

I find the comedy better than Kimi ni Todoke, but this last one is probably more realistic. Both are must read series in term of shoujo.

On another note, I recently started the webcomic Orange Marmalade, do you still read it ?

Nice. I suppose I will give it a try when my schedule is not as tight as it is now.

I'm still reading it, just haven't had the chance to catch up with more. I saw your post, and it reminded me to continue reading, just haven't had the time. I guess I'll try it tonight. XDD It seems to get interesting, no?

LOL~ Yeah, there is a series named Marmalade Boy. By Wataru Mizukami or someone with the name Wataru, haha~ It was quite a good series, I remember. About a boy and a girl who are in love but they are step siblings, no?

yeah I think it's about that- I didn't read the series but I kinda watched a few episodes of the Taiwanese tv show and it was funny.

Hello, guys! How are you doing in terms of enjoying shoujo and josei manga lately? I admit I haven't been in the mood to read more as of now; I'm just sticking to titles I've been following since ages ago. Somehow I'm more interested in watching the anime adaptation of the shoujo/josei works. Take Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun for example, such a lovely series! What about you? What are you reading lately?

well the most "recent" one I'd have read would be Ao Haru Raido.

Anyway, I found Nodame Cantabile Vol. 1 in a bookstore and I was contemplating on whether to buy it or not. So far I only own seinen manga, and I have yet to purchase shoujo/josei ones.

I haven't really thought about what titles to buy except for Fruits Basket by Takaya Natsuki. My criteria for buying manga would be that
1.) Gorgeous art
2) It must have left a deep impression on me or that I really liked the series.

Nodame fulfilled no. 2, but the art was not too extraordinary... that's why I was confused. Fruits Basket art was not too exemplary either, but not as plain as Nodame was, and it was the very first shoujo manga that I read and finished and what opened me to the world of girly manga.

Do you have any manga titles of your own or are there any in particular you want to buy?

I'm a bit like you phio_chan: statu quo (special place for 7 seeds which I always look after with pleasure). My discoveries where more on the shonen side recently. Even one of the josei I enjoyed (Gokusen) was really shonen like :-)
On the web comic side, I tried Cheese in the Trap but was not really enthrilled. I have more expectation from 19-21 which looks more promising.

Ah I tried reading 7 seeds because my sister translated for it. I only lasted about a volume. I didn't read it seriously because that time I was at work. Is it not complete, k-dom? It's kind of been a long time ago since it was first published right? So its art is still that classic typical shoujo feel...

No it is still ongoing ~20 volumes so far. The art is typical shojo but only for the character design (it's similar to her previous work). I
The story is very good in particular thanks to the evolution of the characters. You should definitively give it a try since it shanges from romance shoujo :-)

I don't know about that, honestly speaking. I'm not sure how Fruits Basket looks like, but to be honest Nodame's artwork was one of the turn-off points for me. I hesitated to check the series previously because I wasn't so comfortable with the art. The plot, of course, is very funny and beautiful.

It has been since ages ago that I stopped buying comics. Especially shoujo titles. Most of my collections are shoujo, and you can say how they are different from one another in terms of artwork and plot system. But I kind of feel like every shoujo series is the same nowadays when I go to bookstore. Plot wise nothing really catch my eyes. So I'm kind of sad.

And books are now expensive.

7 Seeds. I remember I wanted to try that title previously, LOL~ I'm actually planning to try more shounen or seinen if I have some free time to check manga out (as I'm very occupied with anime nowadays). And probably some josei. It seems hard to find a josei that picks my interest, hahaha~ XDD

Well, I'd really like to buy NANA by Ai Yazawa, if only it were sold here.

I thought about what you said, P-chan. About shoujo art. Yazawa's works are really stunning and gorgeous (Paradise Kiss, anyone?). One thing why it would be a waste about NANA is that the mangaka currently has Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (if i recall correctly- some illness in the wrist that might not be that in particular) and that's why NANA is on hiatus, and I think it's been four years now? there haven't been any news about her lately and it would be kind of sad if she did not continue anymore, since NANA is one of my most favorite shoujo of all time.

You have to read it by the way. I remember recommending it to you more than once before Paradise Kiss too, it's only 5 volumes long. And also has an anime, with stunning graphics and soundtrack.

Fruits Basket has an anime, if you prefer to watch instead of read. I watched the anime first before reading the manga anyway. And fell in love with it.

Yeah, yeah, I know, sorry for not being able to check them out yet~ I really haven't made good progress with my to-read/watch list since there's always distraction, LOL~ I'll keep them in mind. ^^

I'm not really in mood of manga lately, honestly speaking. I also noticed that some shoujo series are getting more anime which is quite a good thing IMO for advertising. Given how those series are usually awesome. Like Chihayafuru and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, haha~ I like this trend. :P

Hum maybe you already know about this.
Quick translation :a new serie by Yuuki Obata (the mangaka of Bokura ga Ita) will be published starting of december issue of Betsucomi (in store in mid november). Apparently it's a fantasy about a boy and a girl belonging to immortal clans.

I'm not into fantasies myself but I do give stuff a shot.

the fantasies I've read would be vampire related like Midnight Secretary and Vampire Knight. Oh wait, Fruits Basket would be considered fantasy since they turn into animals of the zodiac.

I was recommended Angel Sanctuary a lot and for many times I tried to read it, and all those attempts would end in not more than volume 3 or something. I also tried that manga... um, where he transforms into a demon or something, it had an anime, maybe, I dunno, and I also didn't watch the anime. lol.

It's an original drawing from an artist called Touki no Tsubo, I changed the colours around from the original though.
