i think it would be a nice addition to obi's backstory.
but the way luke's uncle talked about him is he was rumored to be crazy...didn't sound like the family type but more of a recluse.:XD

Oh, that's pretty nice one. I like it. Rey being Luke's daugther would be rather boring choice, way too predictable. Though, also I think the most likely option, unfortunately. Some people think she is also a Solo, but that doesn't imho make much sense. So Rey Kenobi is of these options the most interesting and satisfying one for me.

Interesting is, that Rey was abadoned in the care of Unkar Plutt, not really a fellow you'd want to take care of your child. If Luke left his own daughter, he would have atleast found her a family. For example Lor San Tekka was close-by (well, maybe not at that time), and would have very likely cared for a Skywalker heir. One option though is, that it was actually Kylo who ditched her on Jakku. He couldn't finish off a padawan, little more than a baby. So like in a greek or roman myths, he instead put her in a basket in the river, or a forest or a wasteland. And hopes he never has to think of that again. Luke might have been so confused by the sorrow and chaos in the Force, that he just asumed Rey dead among the others. Not untill her "awakening" in TFA he sensed her.

But yeah, I don't find it likely that whoever brought her to Jakku was Luke. He would have left any child and particulary his own one in better hands. Unless...

There is one pretty crackpot theory out there, which I for some reason really enjoy. It is not a very likely scenario, but would be imho very interesting and makes sense in certain aspects of the know story. Rey Palpatine. Emperor Palpatine was the most powerfull man in the known galaxy. As sith are not bound to the jedi monk aspects, it would be rather likely he had a lover or two during his reign. That would also explain why Rey is so naturally strong in the force - her grandpa was the sith lord. So Luke finds her, takes her to the new jedi order with mixed feelings. Things go sour, Luke feels he failed training his nephew. So how would he even care to think he could train the sole survivor, a Palpatine, to be a good guy, when he failed even Ben Solo. So he just leaves her at Jakku, pays Unkar Plutt just enough that he makes sure she lives to be old enough to care for herself. Now that Palpatine is standing front of him, handing him Anakins old saber, his first saber. There has been a lot of speculation on what Luke's reactions actually were and what they meant in that ending scene. Imho, bafflement at the Palpatine he abadoned coming back to his door step fits.

I like the idea, that Anakin Skywalker was lured to the dark side by Palpatine. And now a Palpatine (Rey) will do her best to bring Skywalker (Kylo) back to the Light Side.

I liked this article... although to take it further, how about rey being luke's daughter and ben's grandaughter? Basically luke met obi ones daughter and married her. It is not completely impossible obi one had his own family if he spent 20 years on tatooine..
Highly doubt it given no mention of his family at all during the movies. Plus, given why Anakin turned to the dark side, Obi-Wan probably would avoid relationships of any kind.

Well, ben was isolated for 20 something years and there was no jedi order. And it wasn't specifically having a relationship that lead anakin to the dark side. Take episode 2, he killed a bunch of guys out of sheer rage and that was before he was with padme. And I think obi wan had a secret girlfriend in the clone wars animated series as well.

I suggested being related to luke and obi wan mostly because I don't think her being related only to obi wan would quite explain her power in the force. In turn her having both obi wans and luke's blood would pretty much account for it and add to the mystery of her bloodline. And it would give more depth to obi wan as a character...

Obi Wan did in the Clone Wars, but what ultimately led Anakin to the dark side was Padme and his desire to save her. That's why he stopped Windu from killing Palpatine and why he became what he did when he thought he killed his wife. Obi Wan would likely want to avoid the danger seeing what it did to Anakin, especially since Obi-Wan was the last hope the galaxy had, unless Yoda was willin to meet Luke.

I thought Obi Wan's girlfriend during the Clone Wars boring a child was better, and from there the child and Luke could have gotten together... and it'd fit with the Skywalkers being younger than their lovers. Personally though, I'm hoping she's none of the character's child. Feels so cliched and old.

yeah....i think leah having twins is a better way of explaining rey's heritage.
seeing how how luke and leah were twins...it's possible for her and han to have twins.

However behind all of that was sidious manipulation. Anakin fell for it and ended up on the dark side. It's not like having a family specifically causes jedi to fall to the dark side. There is even a jedi master who remains canonical and had a family during the prequel trilogy (though that was revealed through other sources).

Where is the evidence for Obiwan ever having children? I think there might be something to her being related to him, but not Luke....I think that's a bit too much.

There isn't much, it is just a theory. For me it would be weird if she wasn't related to luke... Does it make sense that a non skywalker has that much power in the force? Of course, being a skywalker is not necessarily all there is to being a powerful jedi but in turn it should be important considering there is a biological aspect to the whole thing. Rey being as powerful as she is in the force would make sense if she is from a bloodline of people with particularly high connection to the force. I think there is a clue to rey not being luke's daughter though. No one seems to be aware of it. Wouldn't han and leia had know rey? unless luke kept her hidden from them. Which he did to an extent at least considering he was the one who left her apparently. But its one thing to hide someone elses kid and another entirely to hide it from your family while you are with them.

It is, but I'm not so keen on that idea, honestly. I wouldn't want Rey to be related to a Skywalker, feels to cliched and SW novel-like.

Sidious manipulated Anakin, but did Obi Wan know that? While having a family doesn't cause a Jedi to fall to the dark side, the worry and fear could. Anakin worried for Padme and feared losing her, so Sidious had an easier time manipulating her. when his mom died due to the Jawas (?), Anakin was pissed off and killed them in cold blood.

And if we take Expanded Universe into account, even Jaina went to the dark side when Anakin was killed, and Luke was perilously close after he killed the Sith because he thought she killed his wife, when it was really Jacen. Luke couldn't even go after Jacen for fear of turning to the dark side, he sent in Jaina to kill her twin brother. Jacen did kill Luke's wife and tortured their son, so Luke had to be pissed off. though, if it weren't for Leia, Luke might have succumbed to the dark side when he was pretending to join the clone of Sidious.

It does make sense. I don't know if this is canon, but a Force-sensitive being can be born to parents who are not at all sensitive to the Force. Anakin doesn't count though, he was likely created by Plagueis or Palpatine.

Aside from sort of filling the same role as Luke did in the original, I don't think she needs to be related to Luke. People are a bit too obsessed with linking every new character to someone in the original story. I saw people trying to say that Finn is Lando's son, etc. I think people are taking a big leap just because we know Kylo is a Solo. I think if she's related to anyone, it's Obiwan. There are too many clues there, and none of them really apply to Luke. Her being related to Obiwan is enough of a reason for her being force sensitive (if that's even really a requirement).

Well, she definitely doesn't need to be a skywalker to be force sensitive but I would argue the sheer extent to which she was force sensitive is unusual. How many force powers did she show without having a speck of force training? It's definitely skywalker levels of talent. She was using what I understand is usually advanced skills... If she is related to obi wan then the implication is that she is his granddaughter or grandniece perhaps... in which case her mom is entirely age appropriate for luke. Also, it does seem to be the case that luke was the one who left her behind (we saw the robot arm). To me luke ending up with obi wan's secret daughter makes a fair bit of sense. I admit I would also be disappointed if luke had a family of his own (I liked the EU in that way).

to me obi is way to old to be her father....if she is kylo's age.
her parents don't haven't to be luke or leia...but obi died when luke was a teenager basically.

Well, it is literally impossible for obi wan to be her dad. ROTJ supposedly happened 30 years before the force awakens right? And rei is probably a teenager. Obi wan "these are not the droids you are looking for" kenobi can probably get some even as a ghost but I don't think the series will be going in that direction lol.

What do you mean lol?

She doesn't need to be a Skywalker to be that strong in the Force. Like, there's no indication that only Skywalkers can be that strong.

Well, that is technically true however in context a force user with that much innate talent is weird. Take anakin, he was a rarity among jedi. Luke also developed uniquely fast, much more than his own father did. You are technically correct, you don't specifically need to be a skywalker to be that strong. However in context only skywalkers have ever been that strong in the force. At least within what we have seen in the movies. Of course, it doesn't rule someone new appearing but we have to consider the skywalkers have "1 in a billion billion billion" levels of talent (or whatever measure applies for the history of an entire galaxy across thousands of years).

just that she has to be a grand of a sort if she was to be related to obi....

but,i just can't agree with you guys on obi having a fam...he just seems to jedi/jedi to me...
jedi code to the end thing...if anything padme/anakins relationship should have taught him is....love does make you a weak jedi and open you up to hate.
besides,i stick by luke's uncle claiming he was crazy and besides some prostitute...who would mess with him?:XD

to be fair though, we haven't seen any other Force users get much attention, with the exception of Obi Wan, Yoda, and Mace. Hell, even though Palpatine wasn't a Skywalker, he still was one of the most powerful Force users.

She isn't Kylo's age. She's younger than him.

And I think the theory was that she is his granddaughter or something. The clues at least make some sense, I guess.

People see clues everywhere and I can just sit here and shudder for the next ~two years x_x Really, the story is already family drama/weak enough.
