Hey guys,

So I have been thinking about this for some time now as Luffy has started to split his crew up on multiple tasks recently. So the supernova have been referred to as rookies and that they have only been playing pirate games. Now compared to the Yonkou, that is true, but when you start to look at what Luffy has been doing with his crew recently, we start to see the actions of many veteran pirates that he has faced over the years:
  • He separates his crew to complete different missions, but only he and his crew really know what it is all aiming towards
  • he has pirate alliances with other crews
  • strawhats have a following of various islands that support them and have taken a liking to them
  • Islands (fishman island and potentially dressrosa) that will fall under his flag (in time). you could also add alabasta and drum drum kingdom potentially
  • he now has several other pirate crews that sail under him (from dressrosa) although he did not claim to have them.
  • He now uses vivre cards for all those important to him to know where he is (a mark of veteran pirates havein vivre cards)
  • Just like the yonkou, anyone that comes across his crew members, may not actually get to see him since he has other thing going on
  • He even gets the respect of various marines that are high ranking (which is something we only saw from marines towards vet pirates from the first half of the grand line)
So the question for you guys, is do you think Luffy should be considered a rookie anymore? Or more of a career pirate at this point.

Well considering after the first half. He had become a intermediate pirate. But not a Vet. A Vet is someone who can go anywhere and do anything.
Luffy may have saved countries and stopped Civil Wars.
But that doesn't make you a Vet in OP.
It makes you a Supernova.

An example of Someone who has become a Vet is Ace(When he was alive.)
Another example is Chinjao.
Both are not only strong, but have a high level of respect(well I think Chinjao did)
Ace was asked to join the Warlords. You don't give that to a Rookie like Kid, Law, Barto, or Cabbage-Kun(I know it's Cavendish but Cabbage is much more fun to say).

To be a Vet Luffy would need to be just like Shanks, a pirate who can stand next to the Marines and not be feared but respected to the point where they follow his demands.
