i think luffy can pull it off if he learns to control his king haki all of the small fry marines will be knocked off that is left is the VA and their ships that fires cannon 2 years is enough to handle a buster call (wait in SA when luffy attack a celestial dragon is it a buster call aready?)

I dont know if anyone else has already mentioned it but, wouldnt it be nice if Ussop after training with Hercules could finally use a real 10 ton hammer? Brook upgrading his music ability could be devastating as well if he can create status effects on powerful people. And I'm still hoping that Chopper turns into Chopperman and opens a can of whoop ass on someone.

That would be great, but then he would have no use for his impact dials. I honestly think they are the shit when it comes to battling stronger opponents, I just hope Haki wont break them. But if sanji couldnt break it in issue 257 with that giant hammer (speaking of which, where did that huge thing come from?), I doubt glancing blows (even if imbued with haki) will destroy the dial, however I wouldnt like to see what results from a direct hit that was haki imbued. Hopefully Ussop is strong enough to use dials like the knight of the sky who had no ill effects when releasing the stored impact unlike nami and ussop.

imagine if haki makes it possible to swim even if a character has a DF power... since it nullifies the DF power that prolly means it can be used as a protection against its weaknesses also... just a thought

That would be too broken. I think haki doesn't nullify DF powers (seeing as how DF users can use haki AND their powers at the same time) but rather allows the user to attack DF people. Besides, the drowning thing seems to be integrated into the DF user's physical makeup. Like how Seastone can nullify DF powers, but they still can't swim in water.

alright i think that Usopp is goin to gain a bit a muscle, mainly because he's goin to look like his father... For a comparisan here's a page of Usopp's father. he\s gunna turn out something like that...

On a second note, i have a theory on why Oda made it so that the marines put Sogeking, mainly for a joke but also i think he wants Usopp and his father to meet by surprise. How would you feel if your own son had a bounty and you didn't even know about it because of an ulter ego. i think that would be awesome to see his reaction.

I think it is fairly possibly yassop will just kinda figure that is ussop. For one thing, he knows luffy personally so any event around him won't be unknown to him. Just picking up a newspaper would give them knows about him. Not to mention shanks is also bound to keep up with what luffy is doing. By extention it would be easy to find out about luffy's crewmembers. Luffy came from the east blue and sogeking has the same nose as yassop. I don't think yassop will fail to make the connection.

Re: Strawhat training arc

Yeah, I really see only three options :

1. Timeskip to the new year

He rang the bell 16 time, which is what you usually do in the new year.
He could have meant that he wants to reunite for the new year.

The adventure started on May 5th, and they've been out there for what... 6 months someone said?

If it's the regular new years, that would leave at most 1 month.
If it's the chinese new years, that would leave them at most 2-2.5 months.

2. 1-year timeskip

He rang the bell 16 time, which is what you usually do in the new year.
He could have meant that he wants to reunite in 1 year.

In that case, the timeskip would be of one year.

3. 2-years timeskip

When I look at his tattoo, I can read something like SA2Y or SP2Y

I think it could mean either :
- Sabaody Archipelago in 2 years.
- Strawhat pirates in 2 years.

Meaning, in that case, that he will want to reunite with them in 2 years.

-----

2 years seems a bit long...
Even 1 year seems long, considering that the group haven't been together for 6 months (especially Franky and Brooke)...

Maybe a 3-months timeskip...
At max 6 months, IMO.
SPOILER ALERT

The bell signifies the end of one year and the beginning of another. It is rung eight times to give thanks for the old year, and another eight times to welcome the new year. If it is rung twice that signifies some sort of disaster or distress.Luffy infiltrated Marineford to ring this bell.Luffy rang it the traditional sixteen times.Meaning its the end of one era and the start of another.

And his tatto is 3D2Y...Its a message to all the SHs that they will not be meeting in 3days but 2years.

Re: Strawhat training arc

SPOILER ALERT
Lol, not much of a spoiler.
That information was revealed more than a month ago... :p

Anyway...
How do you think Oda will deal with the first chapter after the timeskip?

Do you think he will show the ending of everyone's training?
Do you think he will just follow Luffy going back to the Archipelago, and we will only see the other members once they arrive there?

I agree with the majority of people here, that 2 years seems way to long.
Considering their training it would mean they will enter the GL overpowered. That will mean that the (rather new) introduced Supernovas will have absolutely nothing to stand against the new SH team.
On the other Hand if SH will still have problems to win against the Supernovas that will though bad light on the SH. To have an 2 year Training in the best environment someone can have and than still suck against the Supernovas.

My third point is: This whole Manga is about adventure, exploring the new world and to overcome the unknown anomalies they encounter. After a 2 year training everyone of them should have no problems with it, this could also minder the quality of the ongoing story. On the other Hand if they continue to strugel like before the question will be what have they done the last 2 years.

At the end it's simply to hard for me to imagine who a 2 year skip would work.

They were already overpowerd when they entered paradise. You probably haven't noticed but Luffy's first power up was Gear 2. This was after 388 chapters. When he fought Crocodile he was around the same strength as when he fought Arlong. The same goes for Sanji. The only Strawhat that got constant power ups was Zoro but he was the only one who trained constantly. Ussop and Nami got stronger trough new weapons. The others stayed the same.

That will mean that the (rather new) introduced Supernovas will have absolutely nothing to stand against the new SH team.

The Supernova will get stronger through fights. I think for haki to grow stronger or even to learn to master it you need dangerous situations. This is why Luffy trains on an Island full of strong wild beasts. The New World is a gigantic survival camp. The SN will have to fight a lot of stong new world pirates, marines and other enemies, the same as Sanji fighting 99 Okama masters to get stronger. They will grow stronger and master Haki trough this. But the strawhats don't have such a luxus. The world goverment wants Luffys head. Not to forget that the worid nobels aren't forgiving either. If you remember the war where at the end every Admiral tried to kill Luffy then you will understand that the strawhats can't just go to the new world and get stronger through fighting there. They HAVE TO be able to hold their ground. Kizaru ignored the SN at SA.

For your third point. I don't understand what you are trying to say.

The point of the fight against Kuma was to show them that they really weren't strong enough.
They HAD to get stronger, to even survive (so, imagine how strong they need to become if the aim for the top).

Against people from the Grand Line, they will look overpower, for sure.
But without that training they would have been weaklings on the New World (just look how many Supernovas were taken out already).

I think that, with this power-up, they will be able to take out the weak of New World, but will still have to struggle against the strong, which is a good balance.

Well not exactly. I mean none of Shanks crew met any of luffy's crew yet, so the only way to know what they look like is through the wanted posters. Yasopp doesn't even know that Usopp is a pirate because he hasn't kept in contact with Usopp since he left him and wen't to Shanks crew. And if you look in the page i posted, you will see that Yasopp doesn't infact have a long know's. And if i'm mistaken, Yasopp left when Usopp was pretty young so he wouldn't know that his own sons nose would get THAT long...lol... So if you calculate that fact that Yasopp has no idea that Usopp became a part of Luffy's crew AND the fact that he's got a mask and also the name of Sogeking, then his father wouldn't actually have any idea that it's his own son. At least that the way i see it... Mainly because no other crewmembers has a family member that's also a pirate. And i know your probably goin to say Luffy's father is a pirate but that wouldn't be entirely accurate, they are known as Revolutionaries. I believe Robin stated that pirates couldn't trust Revolutionaries when she was on there boat heading towards Dragon.

I got confused lol, it is true he does not have his dad's nose. That said, he does have his mom's nose.

Basically, there is the east blue thing, a familiar trait.... Not to mention ussop was not that young when he left. Ussop is roughly ussop's age, in that sense I doubt he would have had been a pirate long before he met luffy (at most a couple of years which is more than enough to see ussop's huge nose).

That said, I would NEVER say dragon is a pirate of any form or sort, he is a completely different deal. Robin did not trust the revolutionaries because from a pirates perspective everyone else is a pirate. In that sense, even luffy is pretty much shank's enemy and ussop is pretty much his dad's enemy.

If you don't get it I will help you to understand why SH lost on SA. Its a joke to call it fight at all, since they lost to Kumas and Kizarus teleport abilitys. Logically speaking the SH should the next battle even if Luffy learned Haki and to predict how the enemy move, since even if he can follow the "teleport speed" he can't fight against Kizaru and Kuma at once, if they split up and attack his crew one by one.
But I get the feeling its senseless to explain it to you since it appears you would be happy to see a "Getsuga Bleach" like Luffy who can split the earth in 2 if he likes to.

@Josl: About the SN, sure they will train in the New World, but you don't get my point. It can't be compared since their fights can't be compared with the the training the SHs get.

Luffy get trained get Trained by maybe the strongest man in the world (at least up to this point).
Zoro gets his training from the world best Swordsman.
Nami the Navigator gets her Training at Weatheria the best place to learn how to navigate on the sea.
Usopp - To be honest I don't know what kind of training he can get, besides how to fight for himself and not counting on others all the time, since Herculas may be strong but his "help" is as worse if the enemy himself.
Sanji learns too fight on the level of an RA Admiral.
Chopper lands on "Medical Ohara"
Robin works with the RA an Underground organization for information gathering.
Franky the Engineer found Vegapunks Labor an Blueprints.

So half of the SH is getting their training in the best possible environment.
Back what I said in my previous post. If SH still can be compared with the SN in the New World, than it only means the SHs are stupid like hell.

WTH are you talking about!? :blink
Where in my post do you see that I want a Getsuga Bleach like Luffy!?! :blink

All I said is that Kuma was an ally of Luffy and send them to those islands because he knew that Luffy needed to train otherwise he wouldn't be able to survive in the New World...

And if you look at the rest of my post (that you didn't quote), I actually say :
"I think that, with this power-up, they will be able to take out the weak of New World, but will still have to struggle against the strong, which is a good balance."

I don't want Luffy to be able to split the sky in two...
On the opposite, I want him to be able to beat the weakling easily, but to struggle against the strong ones...
Just like they were doing in the Grand Line.

Learn to read before attacking people... -_-;
