Re: My super duper backhand shot

not a bad side spin on that back hand. you could use more power on your forehand though. swing speed seems kinda low.

Tell your friend to work on his serve....

I wasn't trying at all lol. He is 14 years old. I'm not going to put power in my shots, I'm not Oni.

Video of Me doing "Lightening" , some super slice move that is like the SSA (side spin approach shot) that oshitari does against momo, and doing what looks like shiraishi kuranosuke's move "entaku shot"
https://www.facebook.com/#!/video/video.php?v=1076276940502

Thanks prince of tennis for inspiring me to play tennis and try cool moves like these, although they are nothing close to the "real thing" in the PoT world :)

I can use Hakuryu (yes it rises up and kicks to a side), Sanada's Fuu and Rin, Tsubame Gaeshi (to a certain extent), Hakugei (a slice lob that bounces back to me in the service box), Moon Volley (oh yes this topspin lob is fast), Kagero Zutsumi. I'm one of those guys who actually practices these shots lol. I'll see if I can post a video.

holy shit you can do that? hahaha, I can do tsubame gaeshi but sometimes, also, I can do the twist serve and buggy whip shoot, I'm still confused on how u can do hakuryuu man, do you slice the ball across your racket to add some spin to the side and fire a high lob?, that way the ball would bounce to a side after adding the spin and shooting a high lob

I will try to teach you Hakuryu, it's very easy once you get the hang of it. Make sure you have a wind blowing at you, if you don't the ball won't rise as much. When the ball is low (about 2-3 balls height) and about to bounce near your feet, prepare for a one-handed backhand slice (racquet behind head). Then, when the ball is right next to your feet quickly swing downwards then upwards again for the follow through. Make sure during ball contact, that the racquet is completely pointing down, the face is tilted left halfway (say if 12 o'clock is opponent, the frame sides will be at 1:30 and 7:30) It looks like a golf swing on the backhand side with one hand. The racquet strings will grip onto the ball and force it forwards with backspin/sidespin combo spin. With practice you can get the height and spin right. The wind adds about 1-2 metres to the ball's height. Also you can adapt the shot to whatever you like. I sometimes use it as a stroke, not Hakuryu, to counter a low shot so when someone tries to return it, it pops to the left HEAPS. You can also turn it into a careful drop shot by adjusting power. Imagine you are on the right side of the court and you use it like that, it will pop back over the net.

Hope this helps! (This assumes if you are right handed, so for lefties 10:30 and 4:30 tilt ok?)

Thanks, I'll try tomorrow in practice, and I'm so crazy that I will do it in a competition match, I have one next week, so maybe I'll try :). My RTP is 5.0, what's yours?

What is RTP? Is it a ranking system in USA cause I'm not USA. If it is NRTP I would guess I would be 4.5. Good luck with your match, be sure to use a good Hakuryu lol.

I will also tell you about my version of Sanada's Fuu. I just hit a VERY fast one-handed backhand. What I do, is when I see a ball coming to my backhand that is about 1.5 racquet length's height, I get to where it will be. Then I stand perpendicular to the net with a wide stance (legs a bit more that shoulder width apart) and I turn my body counter-clockwise until it faces the back fence and my racquet is facing the right fence with the racquet being on level with the ball (so its a big twist). Then when I think the ball is close enough (there is no definite distance) I tighten my grip to its fullest, quickly untwist my body and swing to the right VERY quickly. The shot is hit almost completely flat. This results in maximum ball speed and heaviness. For more accuracy and forgiveness, you can give it a more diagonal swing for topspin. I once used this in a match and the opponent couldn't even react. This shot could be adapted for the forehand but it you wont have as much body rotation as the backhand.

I also play competitively but I've been playing tennis during all my life, since I was 5 years old, altough here in Spain I don't know how RTP works, but I play around all the country (national competitions), and I've been on competition for 5 years, so my RTP it's 6.0, not 5.0 (I made a mistake, I tought 5.0 was for competition), and I'm ranked top 300 in the nation, so my RTP is 6.0.

My dream is playing a g.slam, altough that's never going to happen, I won't give up :)

If the POT characters were real, the ATP ranking would be like this:

Echizen
Tezuka
Yukimura
Sanada
Nadal
Fuji
Federer
Monfils
Shuuji
Kawamura (lol)

OMG I managed to use a Tsubame Gaeshi as a stroke today behind the baseline. The shot coming to me was a moderate topspin and a little above waist height. I used Fuji's exact form and swing and the ball sailed across at moderate speed, then fell and bounced only 1 balls height. My friend and I were shocked. He couldn't return it once the ball landed, it was too low. After using the shot I tried to do it again but failed because I tried it on a flat shot. So to use it, the ball must be a topspin shot, at shoulder to waist height and you must not use too much power, otherwise it will rise like a Hakugei.

Yeah me and a friend do PoT moves when playing Tennis.

I did a Higuma Otoshi, but we cheated by organising the smash to land where my racket was lol.

And we also leap into the air when we smash. We only dream we could stay in the air as long as PoT guys like Momo, Kintaro, Ryoma and Ryoma.

I think a move that I would love to see most is Yukimura returning the ball with the bottom of his handle.

The thing is, is that Tsubame Gaeshi can be used in a match practically. If I master it, well, getting a ball to just hover above the ground is a SERIOUS weapon.
