Russia has the money, baltic countries has the manpower, win-win. Bring the 2018 to Russia, and 2022 to Aussie.
Well you just have to bribe 24 22 old men...so russia is...oh my god, i was about to stereotype. D:

Bribing Jack Warner should be no problem since he's corrupt anyway :eyeroll

I think 2022 should be in Spain

Actually you just need 12

Apparently FIFA believe an English world cup would be the most profitable. Russia has a strong bid, but it's downfall might be the massive distance between venues. Although I suppose that wasn't a draw back for the USA so Russia could still do it. I don't think Spain/Portugal or Netherlands/Belgium will sucede as FIFA have stated they aren't fans of joint bids. I even wonder why Spain would have to make a joint bid.

And Man U finally lose in the Carling Cup. Despite Mark Clattenburg's best efforts.

Warner loaths our bid. Every time he is commented on its about how corrupt he is. Thats besides the point though, he is being wooed, and as you say he is corrupt. That friendly not long before the last world cup that was held in port of spainh was mainly to get in his good books. Im also sure i read somewhere that the PM is having a private meeting with him today to try and get more support. Heh....

Actually you just need 12
Thanks. My mistake.

Well, I heard that the Brazilian confederation president, the argentinian and the Conmebol president were all gonna vote on Spain+ Portugal for 2018

2022 I've a feeling that Qatar will win, mostly cause fifa only cares about profit :p Usa would be a better choice imo, with their national team becoming stronger every year and the people there starting to like the sport

2018 -> Russia a nice place to have a WC (besides the cold :XD ), and the rumors on twitter say that England was discarded in the first round

My bets were Belgium+Netherlands and Qatar.
I'm glad that USA, Japan e South Korea lost. Their WC is still recent.

I also didn't want England and Spain when other countries that never host a WC are wishing for it.

I guess i'm not surprised by Russia, but Qatar was really surprising. I guess money talks. Honestly though, I don't think USA would be a good host anyway. Most of USA doesn't even care about the WC. That's just my opinion though.

I think the logical decisions would have been England & Australia.
For 2018 , the decision was normally easy to do:
- Spain / Portugal ... the two countries are in a too great economic trouble.
- Belgium ... we don't have a real government for two years (even if we are one of the few countries in the world where this fact almost have no impact on our daily lives)
- Russia ... No infrastructure, organization of the next winter games are not going so well, lot of travel , ...

For 2022:
- Japan & Usa ... way too soon for those countries to organize it again
- Qatar: no infrastructures , huge cost and honestly ... I wonder how a samba dancing girl in bikini will fit in this country :D. And what about alcohol after games ...

I'm disgusted with both decisions: Money 2 - 0 Football ...

I won't be surprised if there are a lot of objections to Qatar, since it's so small and it's location.

Im not surprised England didnt get it. After all the media did here , it would have been a miracle for England to win it. The "Fifa family" will forever hate us, and tbh who cares. Those corrupt assholes deserved to be caught out in their bribery and corruption, I would be more annoyed if the media didnt say anything about it just so we could win it. Btw, 2 executive comitee members were charged with corruption after evidence found by the British press (they were excluded from the Committee bringing the number down from 24 to 22 members), and more evidence was uncovered by the BBC against another 3 members just this week. Yea...like those same members and their friends were about to vote for us this time. :p

Btw, Kakashi, with Qatar, the location is actually its best feature. The biggest TV market for football is Europe and it would get good times here, its also close flight from the increasing Asian middle class. But...my god, ive been to Qatar many times (i have family close by) , and its a cool place but im seriously wondering if any of the Exec commitee have ever been there. Besides the fact its very small, its essentially two cities! And Al-rayyan is small, so you can say its just one city. Doha. And the heat in the summer! It regularly reaches highs of 50C. 50C! I can see heatstrokes galore. Have they never wondered why gulf citizens holiday en masse during those times? It doesnt matter how air conditioned the stadiums are, Fans will only be in there for about 2 hours of any given day. I dont see the alcohol being a massive problem, they will probably restrict it for the locals and have specified zones? They'll think of something.

As for the russian bid, it was the weakest, none of the other bids had so many question marks. Russia needs 8 new stadiums to be built from scratch and some of the others more extended. Compared to Englands 1, and Spains 3. *sigh* Money talks though.

Fifa: where money never sleeps directed by Sepp Blatter

I am somewhat surprised by how people dislike Russia's win. No infrastructure, no stadiums, okay but it takes another +7 years before it starts. Within that time frame, I am sure that they will get everything done.

I would have given it to Spain/Portugal and/or England until they bashed and flamed each other's candidature. Those two were so overconfident that they could have won it. They can blame the loss only to themselves.

I agree with Zellogan. Our bid was maybe the most exceptional one since we focused on alternative aspects but if we can't form a government over here, how the hell could we organize a WC then :p Btw, our taxes are already high and we would have to pay a lot with a WC

and Qatar: ridiculous, no words to be wasted

@Koen - Its not a case of not liking Russia. It is the fact that it had the weakest bid out of all the others. Which is why it is the most surprising. The best bid in my opinion was the Iberian one followed by England. There bids had everything right and I dont think the loss can be blamed at them. What more can the have done? The English bid cannot control the British media and the Iberian one was faultless in my opinion.

"Fifa values honesty, Fifa works for football and for the world and all my colleagues here present are all honest, hard-working football people and the people not here are also honest and hard-working. You have already heard enough slander in the media, the bidding process is clean regardless of what they say."
I laughed. Hard.

Another point: Ecology is so hype around the world ... and they choose the two most poluting bids.

This decision sounds like this: "Yeah, we are a bunch of evil finance sharks & we just don't care if everyone know about that".

Now, on the positive side:
- with all the money which is going to be invested, I'm sure that both organizations will be top notch.
- No vuvuzelas anymore.

I HATE VUVUZELAS! People in SA should be ashamed of them, as much as I love watching the sport the vuvuzelas made it a pain to watch matches during the game. Even the players were annoyed by them (and they should have). If I never hear one of those things again in my life I will be extremely happy.

I think it is far too soon to host the world cup in USA however I do think it should have been hosted there. The sheer amount of tourists and investment required for such a thing would give the US economy a decent boost IMO, it could be what finally ends the economic crisis if there is some improvement until it actually happens. Seriously, it is estimated 1300000 people went to south africa, that has to be significant. It is interesting to note that if the world cup takes place in Qatar, tourists would actually outnumber the emirate's pupulation.

Thats not surprising, already Qatari nationals are outnumbered in their own country by expatriates. =/

Well, for me it was interesting lol.... Anyways, how would an emirate handle millions of tourists? Now, lets consider a few things about the SA world cup. SA is generally considered to be a first world country and had the conditions to host a WC and it still seem the cup in general was not as successful as expected. Shouldn't the aim be to a WC which meets expectations? Above that, what is the general perception of the middle east to most of the world? War, violence, instability and it could also be be seen to be rather remote and distant. For people in SA (big fans of the world cup) its gonna be a tad far away. For those fans who are closer, the WC is still in the middle east. Above that, does Qatar even need a world cup? Not sure about the details about life there but however the GDP per capita is already at 80k. In that sense, they should not need the economic boost that much, any problems they have is one of distribution which could be tackled in time with proper oil investments.... At least USA has a league growing reasonably fast and an economic boost which benefits the USA benefits anyone they do business with. It would also be a lot easier for me to go to USA rather qatar when the time comes lol... Anyways, I am not happy with this at all, it seem absurd to the point of sheer stupidity.

I think with Qatar, its more to do with the prestige of hosting and enhancing the middle easts image of as you said "war, violence" etc than with actual economic needs. The countries infrastructure is very modern, more so than SA. They have enough money and the country is in very little debt (i think they have no debt but im not too sure). But tbh i am as puzzled as you with regards to how they'll handle the new arrivals. Its essentially doubling the countries population. Will there be enough hotels? etc Who knows...

As much as I like to see a WC in a new part of the world, i would want it to be done in a fairer way. If Qatar actually had reasonable responses to issues raised and had a good bid and they won, i wouldnt have a problem, like SA. The same with Russia, what annoys me is how blatant the corruption/bribing etc was. =/

If the world cup is really expected to be succesful then it will go past doubling the population (perhaps not tripling though). Lets remember the 2010 world cup was less succesful than expected and it still got the 1300000 million tourists. It still seems like the most likely to get bombed world cup though(no offense to anyone from there, that is just the way it seems)....

I guess there is no point in worrying about qatar though, how about that brazil 2014? Its gonna be beautiful... So far they have maintained the number of South American teams so at least there won't be more awful african, asian or middle east teams than usual. Good old Brazil.... Logically Brazil should have a more than decent chance of winning considering the home advantage. In turn I really want Messi to win a world cup and given the age thing that one is the most likely to be it.

Messi is no leader off the field. For a national team, that's a big problem. Plus, if argentina continue to play him as a true 10 , it will never work. Messi is more a winger than a 10.

Plus, there is no Inesta/Xavi in argentina.

Edit: I hope the Golden Bal will be for inesta this year. If it was NBA, I would say that the guy is clutch.
