The Daglish appointment reminds me of Keegans return to Newcastle. Former players, former managers, legends at the club. The only difference i suppose is that Daglish was a damn good manager whilst Keegan was simply good. It will be interesting to see nonetheless how he copes with the differences from the last time he managed. He managed Liverpool pre-sky and took over one of (if not the) best squad in Europe. This time they are in the dumps. It has to be said though, Liverpool definitely have to begin their reversal soon, the spine that was their major strength seems to be deteriorating and its become less and less likely the backups can step up and it would be romantic if Daglish was the one to bring it about.

Flamengo FC.

I seriously thought Blackburn had a done deal with Ronaldinho. [sizept=1] Not. [/sizept] I was waiting for the official news, presentation and press conference. The blue and white stripes would've looked good...:neutral

Honestly, he wouldn't fit in the EPL... Brazil was the right move...

Poor, Saintz0r.
Your team will decline even more. Ronaldinho will impregnate his fellows with I-don't-know-how-to-play-football-anymore disease.

Robbie Keane to go to Birmingham. Roque Santa Cruz returns to the Rovers and they may also get Jermaine Jones from Schalke; pretty impressive if they do get him. Cruz will definitely net some goals for them. I can't see him returning to City on a permanent basis though. He'll probably agree a contract with Blackburn at the end of the season or go somewhere else in Europe I guess.

I wonder if Blackburn can upset Chelski tomorrow? :D

Im glad he didnt go to Blackburn. That would have been torture. Having a (once) great footballing player play in a team thats only form of attack is set pieces and long kicks up the park would have been a travesty. Then again im making the assumption that flamengo at least plays good football. :oh

Anyway, a rumour, but apparently Darren - My missus could have scored that - Bent is going to move from Sunderland to Villa for 18m. 18m! And some people wonder why we think footballs gone crazy. -_-

I heard £24m.

By the time you read this the transfer has gone through and Bent has already trained for Villa. Don't get me wrong Bent is a good player and his domestic record speaks for itself, but £18-£24m? We got VDV for less than half that. That being said we paid Charlton nearly £17m forhim so I suppose I'm in no position to talk.

Steve Pienar (sorry for the spelling) chose Spurs over Chelsea. Although you have to question why we've bought a right footed left winger when we could have gotten someone who could actually us his left foot. Whats the betting we sell him within the next 18 months?

....Then buy him back for more than you sold him for. Hahaha. Anyway In a unashamedly EPL-centred post (who knows whats going on in the continent...i dont :cookiehand).

Arsenal have gotten into the Carling cup final! Fuck yes. Im temporarily putting my snobbish pride in the closet. Tin cup here we come!

In the news, Sky sports have sacked their main commentator and their main presenter has resigned. To those who dont know Sky sports (most people outside this tiny island) imagine...

A medieval King who rules a vast Christendom kingdom. This king occasionally listens to foreign powers like a pope nonetheless he rules his country with an iron grip. Once in a while an upstart duke might claim independence and the king will benignly let him be, knowing full well that the upstart will not last very long. Now this, King is sky sports and the kingdom is English Football. By English football that is..the premier league. They essentially... invented it, run it, own it, rule it. They set the agendas, they had exclusive tv rights since the formation of the premier league in 1992 up until 07/08 (which lead to the popular idiom "Football was invented in 1992") when the pope EU told them to allow someone else in on it (they very reluctantly agreed).

They are the reason football here went from bottom of the deck post-European ban to the force it is now. They bought exclusive rights, put the rights on pay tv, then helped the premier league in its aggressive domestic and international advertising. A cash cow resulted and the reason so much English teams have on average (even without rich owners) more money then clubs in other leagues. That is Sky sports.

But i digress, that sky sports had their main commentator/presenter (the excitable guy you hear on the fifa english commentary) and their main presenter resign because of some things they said about females and the offside rule etc. Saying stuff about a female linesman and saying footballs gone mad because they're there. In any case one sacked the other resigned. It was front and back page news for like a whole week. Hopefully this might mean sky sports might bring in someone who is not scared of something the rest of the world calls "analysis". :-_-

In other news, Torres hands in a transfer request after liverpool reject a transfer bid from Chelsea. Total "oh my god". Liverpool bought luis suarez (they thought they would partner him with torres...:fail). The market is going to close in the next couple of days, so we might see a huge final bid from chelsea soon. About torres specifically, i cannot count how many times ive read that guy stay stuff like "liverpool is the only english club i will be at", " i love liverpool with all my heart, ill never leave them" etc etc etc. I suppose it isnt a surprise with football how it is. He seems to be following hot on the heels of Carlos-I love this club-Tevez and of course Wayne- Kissing the badge-Rooney.

Torres wouldn't leave Liverpool. They need him right now and he wouldn't do anything at Chelsea.

In other news, Japan won Asian Cup :wtf

In the end I think it came down to the fact that this was a regular thing with Gray and Keyes as opposed to a one off incident. The disturbing thing was the way Keyes talked about Jamie Redknapp's ex who was/is a fellow presenter on Sky Sports, and the way certain feminists used it against him.

Liverpool say he can go if Chelsea stump up £50m.

And Spurs got raped 4-0 by Fulham in the FA Cup. I'm just amazed it's taken this long for us to put in this poor a performance.

Its has to be said, Liverpool are mugs. Utter utter idiots. Who in gods name pays 35 million for Andy Carrol? They make Man City look sane. :fail

Chelsea are spending hard, they got torres and david luiz. A couple more signings in midfield and they have a new and younger squad. Both i thought were overpriced but its January and those players are quality....

But when/if Carrol passes his medical, he and Suarez will make a pretty good team with Kuyt acting playmaker from the wing.

35 million is a good price for Carrol, considering aston villa bought Bent for 24... :oh I just can't believe they actually sold Torres....

lolwut. The only reason Carroll's strike rate is so high is because he was the only player scoring at Newcastle. Hell, Chelsea paid less for Drogba and Anelka, two proven goalscorers. The only thing we can say for sure about Carroll is he's had a good season so far.

Andy Caroll is really one of the strangest transfers in the last years in the whole football.:) To pay such money for him is really a sin.
At least Liver got Suares and he scored in the first match, so at least they got one good player.:)
I also think that it was better for Liver and Torres to part, cause Torres wasn't that good this year as he was during his best seasons in Liverpool and also he didn't want to play in a team that doesn't play in Champions, hence it was better to gain money from his transfer and get some fresh blood like Suares. I'm really confused about Carrol's transfer, cause I can't see what he can add to Liverpool now. I think they need someone like Habi Alonso to help in the midfield, cause this way Gerard will get more free time to invent something and construct more attacks.:)

As for now I really want to see 1/8 of the Champions League. Especially I wait for Arsenal vs Barcelona.:) Though I'm curious to see practically every match.

\O/ Two points behind City now with a game in hand.
You'd have thought they'd have tried to match Pekhart with someone the same colour as him.
