One of these days I need to read Kochikame. Anything that's lasted so long deserves to be read.

by the way, did Kochikame become a permanent member because it was really popular in the beginning, or is there something with the mangaka? (or is it both?)

i know its pretty good because i've read couple of them, but there should be something more to go on for this long.

and same question for Jaguar too.

I think the fact that it has no solid plot counts to that so there's no ending for the series and as long as it is popular it can go on forever.

give it roughly a week. doing some heavier than usual stuff on my blog and it's pulling the return of my Edited Mangas back.

not to mention i'm going to have to fix my scanner if i want to deliver the highest quality product

there are a lot of manga that have a good pretty funny moment, but only a handfull one that really have comedy/funny things on all every chapter without sacrificing plot development or make fun on another char or even doesn't have any plot instead gag all the way. And i vote for Gintama, because the toilet that runs out of paper is one of the best example of comedy without sacrificing plot arc. (the 2 teams are actually practically in fighting mode when the disaster happens)

If you enjoy Shoujo, then Skip Beat is a must read, because every 2 pages you flipped can make you lol.

I have not read any gag manga so far, but i think pure comedy without actual plot is a bit boring (IMHO) I watch Pani Poni, and i don't find it funny, because the chars makes fun of eatch other, and they used a lot of puns and parodies (i don't know about manga)

Bleach is not funny. And so does Naruto (though they have funny moments here and there) OP is pretty funny sometimes, and most of the time you didn't expect the humor is comming. But current development is no way near funny at all.

Now i know why i am not so interested on KochiKame, because it has no definitely plot, although to last this long, it bound to be a good read. Maybe one of this days, i will check the manga outs.

When you sell 150,000,000 copies and are the third most popular manga ever you can keep drawing as loooooooong as you want to

Most long running magazines have their equivalent of Kochikame; Hajime no Ippo in Magazine, Cooking Papa in Morning, Major in Sunday, etc. None have lasted as long as Kochi but the principle is the same.

Jaguar sells well, never close to what Kochikame did in it's prime. But short gag series are a manga staple, I can't think of an anthology without at least one. When a successful one comes along publishers make sure to keep them around.

If he scans in Inumaru I'm gonna start translating more of it. I've got enough free time to anyway. The only thing is, as a gag manga, I gotta look up all the cultural references and puns and stuff which takes a while.

Plus, since the manga doesn't really get scanned from week to week I don't think we're gonna end up doing anything besides the tankoubons, which is only one every 15 chapters. Next one should come out soon actually...

i know that there is a group that is trying to scanlate it, but with the lack of RAWs, and so many chapters, i'm not sure how they are doing it.

oh man i love inumaru dashi i just read chapter 1 last night..it is really good, so noodle are u will consider to work on it so maybe i can give u some hand so im interesting do it

To ask about KochiKame: I started TLing it while a couple groups (one in English, another Spanish) has started to make scans. Sort of going back and forth with the final arc of Kinnikuman with it for the moment to make it easier on both series. Just doing my part to help gag manga. (even if everything I'm doing right now is from 1976)

I can't say it's my favorite genre, but there's a few standout titles I've enjoyed. Most notably Jaguar, which I've really been meaning to read more of sometime.

Inumaru dashi is worth Editing is prety fun but it doesn't give the same felling checking the raw and the translation at the same time. So noodles if you ever get time to come back to Edited Manga please consider Editing it (since you also seems to enjoy it).
