The Wii U has a tablet controller and better graphics.

You can read more HERE.

Well, people have complaining for ages that the Wii needed better graphics and more games, so I'm not surprised by this revelation......paying 60$ dollars for games though is a pain in the ass :mono

The success of the first wii, I get it. It was a clever way to attract curious people. But I don't see the point of this new one

New Wii:
- outdated graphics (http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/06/10/batman-arkham-city-looks-worse-on-wii-u-than-ps3/).
- the tablet pad: I just don't see how it can be a good idea in gaming.
- No real "new way of playing" that can put Sony or Microsoft on guard.

Is it really going to work ?
Who is thinking that the tablet pad is a good idea ?
If given the choice, I will still buy a ps3/xbox360 today instead of the wii U

In those shots the joker looked the same to me to be honest. As for the batsuit, it seems to be an actually different batsuit as a whole. It has armor pieces and whatnot. Its not that graphics look worst, they made a different batsuit for that game.

As for the tablet, I have no idea. The concept itself seems awkward however it is all a matter of how it is implemented. I do believe nintendo has the people to actually do a good job with that however how they would surprise us is a mystery to me. I myself can't particularly figure something out other than pretty standard stuff (I could enjoy playing zelda without having to pause to get items). There is the consideration that the console will have 3 different kinds of controllers though, even if the tablet does not work they have 2 things which do work to fall back on. As usual these days, a lot will depend on just what sort of environment the console has for games and gamers.

Re: The Games Hangout Thread -2012 Tokyo Game Show Edition-

So, I've been playing Borderlands 2 and I'm pretty much ready to crown it game of the year. It is soo good.

From the opening cinematic I was ready to name it my it game of the year and nothing I've seen since has changed my mind, in the least.

It's especially great that protagonists from the previous game really get fleshed out a lot more than I thought they would. They all have quite entertaining personalities and tons of hilarious dialogue. Lilith in particular has been a riot. Even the helpful disembodied AI from the previous game has been written in such a way that she's genuinely funny.

Re: The Games Hangout Thread -2012 Tokyo Game Show Edition-

I've been playing an indie game for a while now...it is called FTL: Faster than Light...you have a ship and you try to escape the Rebel Forces...you have to travel star systems and locations within those systems...but the main game revolves around managing your ship: crew, engines, weaponry, shields, piloting, killing intruders, sending intruders...there's also a roleplay element in the game as you get to buy new weaponry and upgrade the ship...

The delivery of the game is simplistic(it's an indie) and the encounters aren't that varied...but this is the first indie game I've enjoyed in a loooooong time...after Limbo...

That is pretty cool. I wonder what kind of game that's going to be? Straight up star fighter or more Freelancer style. I've been waiting for a new Freelancer type game forever.

I've been meaning to play FTL as well but right now my gaming plate is full and then some with Borderlands 2, X-Com Enemy Unknown, and Dishonored.

A friend of mine plays FTL as well. Says it's nice, but personally I don't have any plans of trying it.

I'm curious did any of you hear about the upcoming SimCity?

Uhm, both I guess, if I understand what you mean by star fighter...this guy is the one who developed Freelancer and the Wing Commander series, and he said that he will take the awesome elements of both, and will emulate it to the current level of PC technology that there is...

Here's a quick rundown:

The game will have both offline singleplayer mode and multiplayer mode...

The offline singleplayer mode will be story/mission driven, and you will take the role as a pilot and join Squadron 42 (Star Wars rogue squadron analogy)...basically you will be part of a legend...the important thing about this that it is offline...however you can play it online as well, and you will have the possibility to play co-op...

The multiplayer aspect will be open world, but slightly different than what we have today...the game is not character level driven, but economy driven, and it's more geared towards roaming and exploring the universe and changing it by interacting with it...one example of change/interaction is that you will be able to discover an uncharted place, and you will exclusive stuff that you can do with it, name it after yourself, sell it to corporations who then will make that route public and so on...from the fortune you gather for yourself you can upgrade your ship, modify its specs, etc...this will let you access to bigger ships with multiple functionalities, like having separate turrets, having a personal strike craft...all this would be controlled in co-op as well...you send someone to man the turret, the other guy takes the strike craft, and you will be in the larger cockpit doing your thing...

And you are able to do this, because you have your own character, whom you will be able to move around as you please(in FP or 3rd person), and then interact with whatever you are allowed to interact with...

The connection between SP and MP will be that there will be added story content in bits and pieces, but you will have to find them yourself, just like with the uncharted system...the game won't tell you that the game was updated and how it was updated...the story content will be added in mission packs and will be similar in style to the initial SP mission pack...
Although I guess if you are not aiming for MP gaming, then you will able to get those SP mission packs separately...

What's the most impressive is the level of detail the devs are aiming for...the carrier in the trailer has 7 mil polys that exist in 3D in real time, and players will be able to interact with it...so for instance if I'm in my fighter I will be able to see my friend waving to me from the bridge of the carrier...
The fighter in the trailer has 300k polys, and several hundred components that make up a system, which then interacts the way you tell it to interact...the visual detail is stunning...you can go into your cockpit and manage from there, or you can go 3rd person and see how the different cables of the weapons move around when you move around them, etc...

There are a few more cool aspects to the game...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vhRQPhL1YU

That's the entire video...it will be partially crowd-funded, so you can sign up give the guy some money...

Oh yeah...theoretical launch date is 2014

You don't need to make plans to play FTL, you will stop on your own once those damn monsters teleport onto your ship and take out your most important crew member leaving you in a desperate situation for the dozenth time. :/ So damn hard.

It is hard! And I could only complete it with an Engi ship on Easy! And I was lucky too:darn...with the engi ship it's easy to deal with intruders, cuz it has an autoheal augmentation
