I dont know if the Demon Clan attacked people other than the goddesses, but i think its easily possible that the giants and the fairies opposed them simply because they looked menacing and monstrous, and were manipulated by the goddesses into thinking that they were exactly as they appear.
But what we do know is that the Goddess clan wiped out an entire village of humans just to kill a couple of civilian demons, so in my mind they are the ones who the other clans should be teaming up against.
As for Mel and El being culpable, Mel certainly is, Elizabeth is a little less clear because we dont know exactly why or how she fell in love with Meliodas, but i cant say i approve of staying with him afterwards and joining Stigma, though i also cant say i wouldnt do the same thing.

I agree with this, though it does irk me because they are portrayed in the manga as saints, despite being written differentlyI'm not saying they're saints, but they aren't the villans the fandom makes them look either.
