So I saw both Kick-Ass 2 and Monster's Universtiy. While I don't regret seeing them both, they weren't great films either. Kick Ass 2 was at times excessive in its violence( but I don't really mind that) but the biggest fail for me was the story and plot; it didn't seem to really know which path to take in how to especially handle the Kick-Ass character and his growth from the previous film.
Some of the addtional characters just weren't enjoyable to me, I think out of all the cast, I liked Jim Carrey's character the most. Donald Faison was so underwhelming and even Iain Glen was miscast for this film. Argh. In all, it's an okay film to watch for the action and the attempt at comedy, I suppose but the first definitely the better of the 2 in this case.

Monster's Uni was a lot better than I expected. I tried to go into the film with an open mind and that's the best approach, I found this time. I enjoyed the characters a lot and the story too, despite it being a prequel and therefore, if you'd seen the previous film you'd know ultimately where the characters would end up. The supporting cast besides Billy Crystal and John Goodman was so good; Charlie Day, Nathan Fillion, Aubrey Plaza, Helen Mirren is brilliant as the Dean of the Scarer program that Mike and Sulley register to.

I guess I enjoyed the latter more on the day. Oh also, if you go see Monsters, you get this really sweet Pixar short called The Blue Umbralla; really loved that one as well. Seeing these shorts is one of the highlights of a Pixar movie for me.

Kick Ass 2 was not that good

It's a bit boring compared to the first movie. Mindy was grounded to be Hit Girl and a lot of the boring meetings of Justice Forever

I don't read the Kick Ass Comics so I don't know if the Justice Forever part was also boring in the comics.

The additional characters did not stand out well except for Mother Russia and Col. Stars and Stripes

The heroes vs. villains climax was not that good either.
The fight scene of Kick Ass and Mother Fucker was not good.
Mother Russia vs. Hit Girl's fight was good enough I think.

I was a bit disappointed because I think it will be better than the first movie. Those who haven't seen the first movie might appreciate it more than those who have watched the first movie.

I'll give it a rating of 70 out of 100

Just saw the trailer for "The Butler" and it seems to have Oscar written all over it. Haven't heard of it at all till about 10 min ago and saw the trailer just to check out what it was about.

Great trailer, but damn Oprah, because of her attention grabbing outcry[promotion *cough*] last week, this movie is stained in my mind. Awesome cast anyway, Whitaker, Rickman and Williams.

Wow, so Ben Affleck is apparently gonna be playing the new Batman.....Now I'm even more excited for Man of Steel 2. I think he's gonna do an amazing job. Totally on-board for this.

Come on 2015, where are you?!

I think Ben is perfect for the role. Daredevil may have had some problems but he wasn't one of them. His acting was solid but people just tend to associate bad movies with bad performances. I think he's gonna kill it as Batman…..Let's just hope he doesn't use that gruff, cookie monster voice Christian Bale's Batman always used.

Problem is Affleck is playing Batman far too early, when people are still in love with Christian's Batman. Unless he does a really phenomenal job, I don't see Affleck gettin positive reaction even if he does a good job, thanks to Christian. It's like making JGL Tony Stark... no one will accept that thanks to RDJ.

Michael Keaton and Christian Bale had the best Batman.

Let's not forget that Tobey Meguire was the face of Spiderman for a long time before Andrew Garfield took up the role. Now it's arguable that Andrew is doing a better job as Spidey than Tobey did....I think both Christian and Ben will still be judged on their own merits as Batman. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Ben has proved his acting chops in several different roles before and I know he'll be great in this

But in all seriousness, the recent Superman movie didn't have the best reviews, but I've yet to see it so I won't pass judgment. Hopefully it can turn out well.

Christian Bale was great as bruce wayne. Not as much so as Batman.
Man of Steel was terrible, I really disliked it. Affeck is better off as a director than an actor tbh.

I'm not entirely sure if BEn will be judged on his own merits. I mean, Heath's Joker has been compared to Jack's Joker many times, no? Heath did such phenomenal job that so many say his was much better, and it's been about two or three decades since Jack played Joker. Maybe Ben could do a great job, but that could be overlooked in favor of Bale... who knows? Maybe I'm being too negative, but I'd rather wait and see rather than gripe about the choice.

No, they're too different. The different versions of Bruce Wayne have generally been the same. The Dark Knight's version of Joker is much more twisted and dark. Nicholson's was too comical and cartoonish, reminiscent of Cesar Romero in the old TV show.

I know that. Still didn't stop the comparison between the two, although Jack's was pretty good and underrated compared to Heath's.

All this bashing regarding Ben Affleck is laughable. Yes he did Daredevil but the movie was bad not because of the main actor. The design, the artistic point of view, the direction ... even Colin Farrel was bad in that movie. You could have put anyone in that role, he wouldn't have done better than Affleck. In that movie everyone hates, the main sidekick was also some random actor called Jon Favreau. If Jon Favreau could end up doing Ironman, why isn't it possible for Affleck to be a fine Batman ? And who could be worse than Clooney anyways ? Finally, give the man some credit, he did receive 2 oscars ...

Nb: And I want to see Matt Damon as Robin.

Can you explain why you really hated it? Like more than one point please. It wasn't overwhelming, but bad? Actions scenes were done how they always should be done with characters that can nearly move with the speed of light, origin story was a bit changed, too much brown for me, but acceptable and very similar to the other Modern Age versions aside from that dragon. The real beginning/middle part were a bit long, but Snyder did want to make a reboot, not a follow up to SReturns.
