It was pretty good, but not AMAZING. I found some of the transitions rather awkward. You could clearly see how some parts being rushed/abrupt hurt the story contra other parts being overly focused on (one could argue dragged out, but they felt perfectly paced really). Overall the movie was very good though. I was honestly a little disappointed before they got to the mountain, but the happenings within were incredibly well done. Also the dragon was fucking AMAZINGLY animated. Holy fucking golden horse on a stick! I feel so sorry for GoT now. Smaug was so fucking crazily good! Also his voice acting was greeeeaaat. I was a HUGE fan of Legolas in this movie. I don't give a fuck about him not being in the actual book. Fuck that, Legolas is the best and BEAST. The barrel-escape action sequence where the dwarves escape the elfs has got to be one of the best action sequences ever made. Amazingly fun and entertaining to watch, seriously. That part + the happenings within the mountain were clear highlights. Legolas so OP!

Pretty much everyone I've spoken to loved and adored Smaug; as did I. I agree with you on all those points, though I'm not really a fan of Legolas, but enjoyed his scenes, or rather, his action/battle scenes. My standouts though, would be Smaug and Bilbo; Martin Freeman is so good as Bilbo. He brings such quirkiness to the character, that we've not all seen with the older Bilbo from LOTR.

Saw Now You See Me again, and loved it even more. It's a great movie.

Loved Bilbo and Smaug too. And Legolas. Owning.

And I concluded that truly, Bilbo is the most fascinating, most colorful character ever on the entire LoTR franchise. movies and books combined.

Just saw the desolation of smaug. I am somewhat disappointed at how much in the movies had no relation whatsoever to anything happening in the books. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie, but my expectation was more along the lines of a movie more faithful to the book.

Legolas being there and that female elf were not particularly good inclusions to the story IMO. They were not in the book and their parts were completely skippable. We know from the original trilogy that legolas could have foderized sauron's entire armies with a single dull arrow while blindfolded and shooting in the wrong direction(and of course, such an scenario is impossible because of the physical impossibility of him being in any form or context ungraceful or awkward). We know the mere sight of him gets the women wet, the men bent and occasionally causes spontaneous pregnancies regardless of gender and specie (rumor has it his presence has caused things to spontaneously start living so that they can get spontaneously pregnant). So... why would they add him in a story in which he had no part in? For me the scenes with him were a little tedious to put it mildly. I don't mind kili getting a spotlight and some elven tail (which would be an inspiration for nerds everywhere were it not for the spontaneous pregnancies they now suffer from) but without fili? From what I recall the book always had them together. If kili is going to get some elven tail then at least we should have seen the two of them either bump fists at the prospect or fili complaining about elven women not being hairy enough for a dwarf.

I loved the smaug scenes, they did a very good job with that one. There were quite a few moments in which I just wondered why in the holy hell was the hobbit not wearing the ring though. In the books bilbo was somewhat more liberal with its use.

I saw hunger games 2. It s a huge improvement. At least i don t want to kill peeta in ever scene. I still think that the actor playing peeta is the least charismatic actor I can think of but at least the character is less annoying. Aside from that, story is good enough and characters are overall quite good. It would be better if there wasn t that annoying karl lagerfeld like ambiance coming from the over the top costumes

I found Desolation of Smaug extremely silly. Big hand for the action choreographers for being able to be so out there with their imagination, but otherwise it was just meh. At least it wasn't as bad a 3DCGI rollercoaster as the first one was. Better than the first one, but imho that wasn't much. I could watch this one easily, without checking the clock all the time. Still, it left me with a shrug of shoulders. Okay, that was Hobbit 2. I didn't feel anything, I don't want to see it again. And I'm a Tolkien fanboy. I was not fanboycrazed nor fanboypissedangry. It was just meh.

Why so much Legolas? Why a completly random romantic sideplot? Why Gandalfs sidequest is so boring? Why does he even try cross bridges anymore?

Also, why Legolas is so dumb? He can headshot countless of minion orcs while doing ballet on heads of barrelriding dwarfs, while going down wild rapids. And the later he rides of after sub-boss orc, holding a sword high on his hand, while carrying a bow on his back. Shoot the bastard. If you need him a live, shoot the mount god dammit.

Only acting performance I enjoyed, was Lee Pace as Thranduil.

The scenes with the dragon are great enough to make the movie a good movie. Without it, it was an average ok movie. There were some bad choices: The love story involving Tauriel might be the worse choice. But still, Peter Jackson is the best at filming epic landscapes and that didn't change with the hobbit. Plus, Martin Freeman is for me the best actor of the whole franchise. He is perfect in his role. The love couple "Sam-Frodo" was getting on my nerves. Just how much of a good guy is Sam in the first three movies ...

Truthfully I read the Hobbit book SOO LONG AGO (like, 15 years ago?) so I couldn't remember a single thing about it except that Bilbo got a sword for killing orcs and that he had a pretty long time with Gollum and that he wore the ring a lot, and was loved a lot by those around him.

So with that knowledge I went forth and watched Desolation of Smaug, found Bilbo extremely entertaining like I remembered him to be. The rest, I didn't really know if it was canon or not. It was pretty okay. Suffice to say, if it was without Bilbo and the SMART ASS DRAGON, it would have been a tremendous letdown.

Though I've seen the first one, I have to mostly agree about Bilbo. The only one who could match him as a character is Gandalf.

So, I've seen captain phillips. The film is great. The pace once the pirates are seen by the captain is just astonishing. There is just a small build-up phase and then it's a real clever action-suspense movie. Tom hanks is of course great but the somali pirates are as good.

After the movie, I searched online about the true story behind the movie ... and I was disapointed. It's true that the real captain phillips is smart (the false call to the army at the beginning is legit for example) & courageous but he is also an arrogant man & a liar. He did a lot of mistakes & his own arrogance put the whole crew in danger. I saw an interview of the guy in which he is confronted to his lies and he is appaling (the way he is trying to avoid talking about those mails ...). The captain received countless warning from mails & also from his crew to avoid those water but he still went there because he was the mighty captain of a very big boat. The guy "jokingly" said to Tom hanks that he had to be more beautiful to interpret him. So, in the end, even if only the people present knew what really happened, there are enough documents available to support his arrogance.

The guy was hailed as a hero, received by Obama & is now interpreted by Tom Hanks ... but in reality, he seems like a big fraud and an ass. And that pissed me off.

In conclusion, the movie was awesome but what's behind the film is leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth.

After Gravity i have yet to see any movie in theater. And the 3d glasses were so horrible, i could not enjoy movie at all.
