Ahhh... that explains why your wife has been nagging you more lately XD ( I completely forgot! )

Yeah- MH has GROWN to a size I never thought would be possible. Much thanks to NF, I mean I'm sure this site would have never gotten this size without it. I've met MANY awesome people because of it, and I'm glad to see it grow and continue to contribute to the community :D. Hopefully we can continue to get many translators and people willing to help out in many languages to help spread the joy of manga even more :ossu. (and especially get new projects started / fix bad translations :p.)
True, if not for NF's willingness to let MH "borrow" their Translations and Edited Mangas forums for our first four months, we probably wouldn't have even attracted 1/3 of the people we did the first few months. But I like to think MH has evolved into a completely different forum that attracts people for different reasons, so give yourself some credit, Taylor. :)

Questions!

What's the story behind your name?
Around the time I started learning Japanese (in 1999-ish) I decided to create a hotmail account... and I was thinking what to use and I came up with Nihonjintaylor beacuse well I wanted to be Japanese, and my name is Taylor... so it fit... later on, when I became a member of Narutofan, I decided it'd be a good idea to change my name a little bit and I changed it to the NJT you see today :p.

Trying to make other people happy / spending time with those that I care about :)

What do you want to name your future
child/children?
Already have a child, named her Hina :).

What makes you nervous?
Meeting people for the first time, being put in the spotlight in front of a lot of people (even though I like it I still get nervous :p) and awaiting answers to important questions^^;

What makes you cry?
Stuff that is touching. Hurting the ones I love

What do you think of abortion?
Only way I could agree with it is if the person was raped with absolutely no way to take care of the child / give them up for adoption... but then again I still wouldn't want to hold the child of a person that raped me for 9 months.......

Longest trip you've taken?
Over 24 hours, from my house in Utah, to a city called Sakata in yamagata, did the whole trip and hardly slept at all.... that was Bleh

Your wish when you last blew your birthday candles?
That I become wealthy^^;

Do you follow fashion trends?
hmmm not that I know of?

Have you ever ran away?

Never.... I at least have the balls to tell them if they are bugging me :p.

For how long?
N/A

Have you ever went on a romantic date?
haha yeah---:love

When was the last time you received a love letter?
perhaps it was in High school?

When was the last time you wrote a love letter?
Would that include valentine cards...?Then last valentines :p

If you could spend a whole week anywhere you want. Where would you go?
Right now? I'd want to be in Australia.... But umm in general, I'd like to be in Hawaii

What do you think of your past?
It was hell, but I'm greatfull of it

3:45am

Who was the last person who said good night to you last night?
Wife

What time did you wake up this morning?
10am

Do you know what woke you up?
My baby, she was scratching the wall :p

Who was the first person you saw this morning?
My baby

What did you have for breakfast?
I skipped it, and had lunch at a restaurant. I ate Unagi, sashimi, and some sushi at a Japanese restaurant. The sushi was TO DIE FOR!!!! Seriously never had some that was sooo good.

What was the first song you listened to today?
ガラナ - スキマスイッチ

What did you have for dinner last night?
I had 麻婆チャーハン from 7/11 :p

Did you go anywhere today?
Out to eat, and then to work

Did you make/receive any phone calls today?
Nope :s

What did u wish for when you woke up this morning?
That I would have an email from a certain friend^^;

Most likely because you have it in the "meet the translators" sections. Last time I searched for it I couldn't find it and thought it was deleted or something.

Anyway for the questions:

- It's almost 3 months left till' you get a new child, how is it going? (I hope well).

- What do you like more, English or Japanese food?

- What made you start learning Japanese instead of, you know, Spanish, French or such?

- What games do you play?

- Favorite manga? Maybe favorite Manga type (adventure, sport etc.)?

- Do you like watching Japanese TV?

- Watched Van Hellsing (the not-manga movie)?

- In your sig what does that piece of Japanese text mean? :)

A bit exciting and a bit scary (the whole birthing process is amazing but very scary indeed :s... literally life and death is at stake so ya-- I kinda tend to be a bit nervous :p) But it should be nice to have another baby around (though late night crying wasn't all that fun :p) But I bet Hina will be happy :)

- What do you like more, English or Japanese food?
I like lots of things of both... so it's quite hard to say... I mean it depends if I don't have it then I generally really want it. Like right now I crave Taco-bell and my favorite sandwich shop, Jimmy johns...

- What made you start learning Japanese instead of, you know, Spanish, French or such?
I actually studied French for two years and Latin for one... but neither really caused me want to learn it / continue studying it outside of class. Nothing in France that really appealed to me, and well Latin is well you know... just one of those languages to learn to help out with English more :p. But the reason I stuck with Japanese is because I had lots of Japanese people visit my school and it was really nice talking to them, and I also started to like DBZ and I dunno I really really found the culture and people interesting. So I was hooked.

- What games do you play?
I generally play fighting games, though I like RPGs as well... some adventure games and I dunno, anything that is really just fun to play^^;

- Favorite manga? Maybe favorite Manga type (adventure, sport etc.)?
My favorite manga so far has to be Mr. Fullswing(comedy), with One Piece next up, DB, Naruto, Samurai deeper kyo, Urayasu tekkin kazoku, Tenjou Tenge (in that order^^;)

- Do you like watching Japanese TV?
Kinda... I really don't like watching TV in general much, but what I do watch of JP tv it's amuzing :) (btw only watch about 3 hours of tv a week.)

- Watched Van Hellsing (the not-manga movie)?
nah- although I like vampires and such, I dislike heavy violence :s

haha is that saying that until now you've never seen a translation of mine? :p

Why Mangahelpers?
Well I wanted to make a site that helped with bad/wrong/inaccurate translations that had to deal with manga... and low and behold this site was born :). I'm glad I chose this name as it has worked out even better than I had imagined (with the whole Edited Manga helping people and new groups that are formed here.)

Your drawing skillson scale from 1 to 10?

Ummm around a 4. I used to draw a lot, and I could draw whatever I saw... but yeah- now I'm not very good at all :s

Are you a sporty guy?

No, not really. I mean there really isn't much of a chance where I live to play any sports. But when I do play I'm not all that bad. I was a very good goaly in soccer and also am pretty good in Ice hockey and football^^;.

How come you're so awesome? XD
Hahaha... I'm anything but :p. I grew up in a situation that... well was very black, very blah, and very hard. I saw a bunch of fighting and was around negative for the most part of my life. So once I got away I really really really appreciated positive stuff, and because I saw so much "dark" stuff I could see small things, little things and be really appreciative of it all. So--- I just try to do my best to help others because I dunno, it's fun to do :p. But when I get told I'm awesome I really don't know what to say :p. I mean it's something all people should do... so... I dunno I'm just trying to set an example and hope people try and do the right thing. (that's not to say that I don't have my bad parts... but I try to be good. Most of the time ;) )
There you go :)

hi taylor! thanks for getting MH up and running again. :) here's my question:

What's your take on japan and japanese as a 'gaijin'? how long is one considered a 'gaijin'? Do you see yourself staying in Japan for good?

A friend of mine working in Tokyo says that on average, (working) foreigners only stay in Japan for 3 years. He sent me an interesting article - sorta like a Farewell speech by this lady working at company promoting Sailor Moon - and the gist of the article is more or less "Thank goodness I'm leaving Japan." My friend has found it hard to form 'friendships' with his japanese colleagues. after the 1st 2 weeks...they sorta ignores foreigners. Is this true?

Sorry for the lengthy questions. its just that what my friend said is really different from my perception of Japan.

No prob :). *Always hopes for the best*

Hmmm well it seriously depends on your personality, your grasp on the language and where you are at... So in other words it highly depends on a bunch of various ratios and all that good stuff. But for me, I've had a mix of both in Japan.

When I went to HS in Japan for a few months, it was almost impossible to make friends (probably because at that time I had only studied Japanese for 2 years, and so wasn't all that great :p. But it was the first time I've ever had trouble making friends, which was blah. But I left Japan in love with it. The people that I did meet and was with with, made me think that.

Now I work in a company/school with lots of great people, so it's not all that bad to work here.(though I'm going to quit this year :p) As for staying here for good. Yup I could seriously see that. But I'd probably want to visit America a few times a year :D.

Hmm like I said above, it depends on a lot of things. A friend of mine went to school and had a great time, joined a club and made friends really easily. On the other hand, another friend also did the same thing but didn't join any clubs and didn't get out much so his trip wasn't very fun at all. As long as you find the right crowd, (generally those eager to learn English) You can adapt well. Either that or tough it up and learn Japanese, and make sure that you are friendly and are willing to understand misunderstandings happen... and to not hold grudges.

Sorry for the lengthy questions. its just that what my friend said is really different from my perception of Japan.
Which is very possible. Everyone has a different experience, so really it's hard for anyone to tell you how it'll be if you were to come here. The best thing to do is just come here and try to have fun, and chances are you will find it :p. Most often we make things worse than they are by thinking negatively. And if you do come while I'm here let me know and I can help you out if you ever need it :ossu
