Lucy is a character that I would argue is consistently underestimated. However her skills have generally been higher than the manga (and fandom) give her credit for. It's generally comedy or fan service that foils her, not her lack of battle skills. And specially over the last time skip she had a more than dramatic increase in power and finally found a way to compensate for her physical weakness. As of the GMGs arcs she has been able to summon at least 2 spirits to fight and she can do 3 with some trouble. And even during the tartarus arc she did so well enough that she could hold back multiple demons. Even though other FT members could barely hold back one at the time. Mira and elfman could not even properly defeat sayla. And then we get to the timeskip.... Her sheer magical power increased immensely over that short period. Odds are that by this time her sheer amount of magic power is comparable to pre timeskip gildarts or so (not necessarily more though, just comparable). Add to that her star dresses which increase her magic and give her the ability to fight on her own alongside her spirits and she has basically compensated for her more crippling weaknesses from before. Along with granting her immensely greater combination and synergy potential potential with her spirits. She still falls short of a springan overall but which FT members don't at this point? The only FT members I would say are definitely stronger than her are (in no specific order) basically makarov, natsu, grey, erza, laxus, gajeel, gildarts.... and that's it. Mira lost her relevance ages ago. Maybe if she could use allegria freely but without that she is weaker IMO and not even worth mentioning as a rival to erza. The thunder tribe lost their status a long time ago. They were probably stronger pre GMGs but unfortunately for them second origin left them behind considerably. Heck, they lost to tempester easily. What lucy did at tartarus on her own easily surpasses them. And lucy could potentially fight at the springan level or above if she uses the stellar spirit king summon. Or ever gets his stellar spirit clothes (or armor?). I mean, an exhausted lucy summoned the stellar spirit king and was able to go toe to toe with mard geer. Currently lucy has at least several times the magic she had back then.

Don't fear the arc's end isn't near.
What kind of Arc would it be,if Lucy doesn't use Urano Metria?

Her ability is her shades. Prevents people from using eye magic on her. Capricorn doesn't have a magic, he's just good at close quarters. So in truth wouldn't make sense if she had a power with this star dress.

Lucy vs. Brandish for a fake fight was better than a handful of fights, it was dope.

Ok two funny things about the Capricorn's shades:
1. Puts an end to the old Evergreen vs Lucy debate of Evergreen just turning Lucy to stone as now she has shades to protect her
2. The shades protected Lucy from mind control (cuz it was based around eye magic) but it failed to save Capricorn himself from Zoledo (the irony)

But as for Capricorn not having a magic, wasn't there a form of Haru's sword that merely increased his physical prowess? Like it didn't have a big attack but increase his combat ability? It's hard to remember now. I always considered Capricorn star dress to be like that since he's good at cqc even tho we never saw Lucy fight cqc. Which was always why I thought Capricorn star dress would be better against Jacob the Loke's.

I don't think Capricorn doesn't have a magic. He is good on hand to hand combat but i remeber one moment in Tenrou arc when Cana, Gray were trying to atack him with thier magic but it doesn't work on him. I always thinking he has something like nullify magic but it's only therory.
If Lucy can only wear glasses in caprcorn star dress then this is just shit in my opionon.

Yes i agree this is my fav "fight" in this arc.

With modern technology with glasses that see infrared and seeing in the dark and phones that scan people and terrain.... Mashima couldn't come up with something super cool about these shades.....???

Like even Bishmonten's spirits, one spirit wasn't offensive weapon, he was her earrings and helped her target and use her other weapons. Capricorn could be like that. Targeting shades that help her use like that.

Hmm. This post would probably be better in the Lucy thread. Could a mod move it for me?

If there's a spin off about Lucy searching for Aquarius's Key during the past year who do you think will go will Lucy to search for Aquarius's Key and how many chapters do think this spin off will be? Also I don't think it will be a long spin off I think it will be a short spin off like 10 - 12 chapters and will most likely be a monthly spin off.

I'm hoping a mod will move my last post.

But the Capricorn star dress shades were lazy. And I think I gave some examples on how Mashima could use them in that post.

But I think one problem Mashima had was Capricorn was never shown with any magic so he didn't have any examples. Most of his magic on Tenrou was zoledo's. And any other time he was summoned he was an advisor.

Also sad that Aries and Virgo star dresses still have no attacks even tho the spirits have

All guild should help her with searching this key. She saved them all but if only Natsu and Happy will go with her i will be fine with that.

Yeah I think Natsu/Happy will be enough characters to help Lucy search for Aquarius's Key. Also in this spin off we could see Lucy/Natsu/Happy visiting Sabertooth, Lucy/Natsu/Happy could visit Wendy while she's at Lamia Scale, go to Alvarez which would reveal who's ruling Alvarez, and show Lucy meeting Anna for the first time. Yeah 10 - 12 chapters is more enough chapters which is why I see this being a monthly spin off and maybe Rui Watanabe can do the spin off about Lucy/Natsu/Happy searching for Aquarius's Key I mean Rui Watanabe did the Blue Mistral spin off which had Lucy/Natsu/Happy in it as well.

I would love to see Yukino and Lucy do a tag team Stardress.

So lucy with his stardress would be a Chun li, pity we're not seen can be in spin off.

Yes a spin off of 10-13 chapter for the quest of the key of aquarius would suffice.

I guess I somehow managed to miss the poll for this thread...

I'm actually pretty surprised at the results so far. I just voted for Lucy's Scorpio Star Dress. That one has always been my favorite design due to her badass hairstyle (long ponytail) and combat clothing/armor. I especially liked the headband with Scorpio's symbol marked on it.

Although, I have to admit that Lucy's Taurus Star Dress comes in a close second. Her hairstyle and clothing in that form is also unique and cool-looking, in my opinion.



It would have been better if Lucy was showcased more in the Alvarez Arc (by that, I mean replace some of Erza's fights), but it's a shame that it didn't happen that way.

For example, Scorpio Star Dress Lucy vs. Ajeel would have been a better fight. I'm pretty sure Lucy would have kicked ass in that battle instead of having a near-death experience like Erza did.

Not to mention, the sand vs. sand dynamic would prove to be a more interesting match. In my personal opinion, anyway.

Now this is my pet peeve about Ajeel. You bring out the sand vs sand aspect of Scorpio Star dress but really Lucy has always been prepped to fight a sand user.

5. During Capricorn's training on the beach (before she got second origin or her timeskip training), she was pushing back sand with her power alone. It was a technique that her mother was taught too in order to increase her stamina. How awesome to delve into Capricorn, Layla, Lucy, and potentially (the plot device) Anna's history by having Lucy push back the sand with latent celestial training that was foreshadowed back in GMG????

8. Virgo has Earth Magic

9. In real life, wool clothes can protect against sand... Possibly the only valid reason for Aries's magic the entire series

10. Horologium's shield has been established to be OP since Edolas and Tenrou.

11. Would get to see the current level of Urano Metria

12. Gemini could copy someone like Juvia or Levy. Well Gemini could also turn into Lucy. How awesome for a fight where someone copies themselves and instantly knows what the other copy would do? Gemini can also fly and torpedo material like in the Flare battle.

15. Loke is light. Erza used an armor that was based on LIGHT to signal Bisca's shot
Loke's SOS light signal for everyone to shoot

16.Sagittarius star dress would be just as affective as this move of Erza's.

17. Pair Lucy with someone who would be a good partner for her to fight with
A. Lucy + Mira

• Lucy idolized Mira since Chapter 1.
• They do the Mysteries of Fairy Tail together.
• Lucy cried upon seeing Mira in Avatar after returning to the guild.
• Lucy always is seen talking to Mira at the bar.
• They have never fought together.
• If Wendy and Erza can fight together based on a scene from OS and the fact that Erza needed Dragon Slaying Magic enchanted into her; Lucy and Mira could have teamed up against someone weak like Ajeel (who's not even on Irene's level) and have a logical win without any plot devices thrown in.

B. Lucy + Juvia

• Both water mages.
• Have fought previously in ToH together.
• Can multiply their attacks by doing unison raids.

C. Lucy + Elfman

• More believable pairing of beating @Emperor Spriggan's crew than Elfman + Lisanna

D. Lucy + Wendy

• This may seem weird since Wendy fought so much but Wendy only supported. Lucy could have supported Wendy with her hax celestial magic while Wendy used Dagon force for the final blow.

E. Lucy + Yukino

• Yukino has not used her magic since Grand magic games
• Her two spirits Libra and Pisces would be perfect for sand. Libra using gravity to keep Azir's sand body stationary, while Pisces's human form could turn his sand into water for Lucy to use Aquarius star dress with

18. Give Capricorn star dress something more than "His glasses protect me from eye attacks." That's pure laziness Mashima

19. Lucy never got pushed passed her limit; any time she started to fight, immediately PiS happened and a third party would interrupt. Azir would be one of the few Spriggans she could legit hold up to without some plot device whisking her away.

• Lucy vs Jacob..... Natsu appeared even though she should be able to dodge the knives. Expecially when this fight could have easily been Lucy, Cana, and Makarov vs Jacob.
• Lucy vs Brandish.... Dimaria appeared.
• Natsu and Lucy vs August..... Irene's U1 interrupted..... Natsu and Lucy vs August would have been Elle and Haru vs Shakuma. It would have been better than Gildarts and Cana vs August.

20. Because like you said.... Did Erza need 4 battles this arc? And if you look at the meaning of each fight....

• Erza vs Azir (to hype the arc)
• Erza vs Neinhart/Historia (to show Erza's mental strength vs her ghosts and to establish an eye inheritance with Irene)
• Erza vs Irene (Mother and Daughter)
• Erza vs Dragon Acnologia (Because she's Erza)
• Plus 5.... she took down END and demonizing!Gray too....!

Fighting to hype the arc is the weakest reason to fight as the Spriggans already had hype. In fact, Erza struggling against Azir just makes her wins against Irene and her pushing Acnologia down in the same arc, look like more of an asspull. I also think I would have like Erza vs Irene more if the whole arc was devoted to setting that up; making their relationship like Silver vs Gray but instead we had Erza thrown at everyone just because she's strong.


Bonus reason: If Aqua metria is the combination of Water and UM, what is the combo of Scorpio's sand and UM? If Taurus can combine with both Aries's wool and Scorpio's sand what's stopping UM from combining with Regulus, sand, wool.... etc...

My biggest pet peeve when it comes to how Hiro handled Lucy is that we didn't get to see more Silver keys. In the beginning Lucy was so caught up on getting more keys but as the series progress that starts to fade.

I get the allure of the Gold keys but by time Tenrou island was over there wasn't really any gold keys left. Ofcourse you had Libra, Pisces and Ophnicous but by this point Hiro already knew he didn't want Lucy to have those. I also understand him not wanting to introduce keys like Draco, Hydra, Phoenix, etc because that would make Lucy to powerful but lesser constellations should have without a doubt came into play.

Hiro could have easily Incorporated new Celestial spirit keys by simply having them be the gifts her father sent her.

Hiro could have easily introduced Keys like:

• Mensa(Mountain)
• Eridanus(River)
• Fornax(Chemical Furnace)
• Aquila(Lightning Eagle)
• Antila(Air Pump)
• Hydrus(Lesser Water Snake)
• Serpens(Snake)
• Caleum(Chisel)
• Scutum(Shield)
• Sculpture(Sculpture)
• Pictor(Easel)
• Coma Bernices(Hair)
• Sagitta(Arrow)
• Etc

Sagitta would have easily complimented Sagittarius. The arrow could have been able to change form and abilities. An arrow great for penetrating, staring fires, speed, etc. Easily could have made Sagittarius similar to Archer.

With Taurus she could have combined him with a trio with Scutum, Antila and Aquila. This would make him similar to a thor like character. Not Thor level but you know. Taurus Axe would act as Thors hammer by:

1. Conjuring Lightning via Aquila and Wind via Antila.
2. If they had Taurus axe formed from adamantine like Perseus sword the same way Eridanus formed Lucy's whip.

With Leo you easily could have simply added Fornax and Aquila to his arsenal. The same way he transferred his magic to Capricorn they could have transferred their powers over to Leo.

Cancer could have parred well with Coma Bernices. His power could have been used similar to Flare and Vidaldus.

With Aries you easily could have parred her with Antila and Unicornis to create a more sweet feel. Something Similar to Wendy.

You Could have parred Virgo with Mensa. Improving upon her earth Magic making her similar to Cosmos and Plutogrim. Mensa is a table Mountain in Africa with beautiful Vegetation.

Scorpio could have been parred with Caleum, Antila and Serpens. Scorpions are poisons and that is where the snake is coming from and Scorpio has a gun like Stinger that could have parred well with Caleum. Also with Antila could have created Sand Storms like Azir. Could been similar to Cobra with an attack similar to Whal Cannon.

Aquarius could have been parred with Antila, Aquila, Eridanus and Hydrus to create different weather conditions. Out of respect to the victims of current Hurricanes I won't post pictures of one.


Honestly this way Lucy isn't too powerful but we actually get to see some of the full potential of her power. As far as the other Big Spirits like Persues, Phoenix, etc is concerned you could have simply had them do the following:

Had Persues create a adamantine hammer for Taurus and gave him Hades Helm of Darkness and Hermes sandels.

Had Phoenix give Leo a fire ring.

Hydra give Scorpio Dragon Slayer magic.

Have Andromeda give Virgo enchanted Chains. The chains she was chained to the rock with.

etc.

Atleast this way atleast they were mentioned but not shown.


At the end of the day Lucy was a summoner mage and that is what her power should have been focused on "Her Summons". By the end of the series Lucy should have possessed wayyyyyyyyyy more keys. She has faced off against the top 3 Dark Guilds and Dragons.
