Do not forget that the nalu is an invention of fandom, not Mashima, but he does know how to get juice from that pair (with pure fs, among them). XD
Well, he kind of has denied it due to Jerza's existence.
If NaLu is an invention of the fandom, then so is Natza.
I think jerza has no future, remember that Mashima revived Jellal for an impulse, not because history will really need it. Also, that Erza and Jellal are seen nothing happens between them, just a hello and a goodbye. I even think Meredy has more chances to stay with Jellal.

Up to you if you want to edit that, but I don't think it's them being open as much as it is Gray disagreeing with Erza or Erza telling Gray to believe in whom I assume is Natsu. Erza is usually like that with most FT members, even more so with Natsu, Lucy, and Gray.
He actually did deny the possibility when he had Erza say she considers Natsu and Gray like her brothers. She has even bathed with them many times too, and the feeling for few arcs has been more like an older sister.

Well, she's biased towards him due to their history, so it's not that shocking, really. Wouldn't you be biased towards a someone who played a big part in your happiness and finding something you love? Towards a person who beats the odds no matter what and helps or protects everyone?

Natsu gets the most debate because he's the main character and isn't established yet. It's the fans making shit up about Natsu-Lucy, Natsu-Lisanna, Natsu-Erza, and whatever else, but it's completely up in the air with the winds pointing towards Natsu-Lucy. I mean, Lucy's preference for Natsu is clear, Gray and Juvia are nearly established, we have Gajeel and Levy, and Erza and Gellal are in love with each other with Erza saying she sees Gray and Natsu as her little brothers. Other than Natsu, who has shown no interest in anyone so far, most others are established or nearly established that any other pairing would be crack pairing. I'm sure before the tournament or Alvarez Arc, there might have been debates about Gray and Ultear as well.

Anyway, Jerza is obviously gonna happen much like NaLu is more likely to happen than not. Thinking anything different at this point is just setting yourself up for disappointment and if Mashima actually switched that up... then it would be one of biggest troll moves he's ever done.
I'd lowkey like to see that happen though just for the entertainment of seeing people on Tumblr go nuts. Don't judge me.
