I actually thought Mashima's sketch of Gray and Mira was pretty good. Obviously, that's coming from somebody like me, so it may not mean much, but that's precisely why I like the ship to begin with.

But I gotta admit, Chapter 86's Cover is pretty convincing the way the artwork and captions were done.

Pairings are just fan service. That Gray x Mira art illustrates it quite clearly.
If Gray x Mira fans were majority, I have no doubts that that's what would happen. It might even been what Mashima liked when that chapters. I am quite sure he goes with fan majority instead.

I'm all for Ichiya ships Anything to get him on panel. That was pretty funny from the Laxus spin-off. But that GM is more of a fanguy/girl so he/she would have to get in line

Would have to be some top tier looks with having Jenny in BP and his love in life being Erza. Maybe will be a cover chapter.

I am still amazed at the tons of flashbacks Gray had with these two in this arc (Tartaros too): 483, 522 and so on... not considering Ur&company of course I love how much he values his relationship with his best friend (Natsu) and love (Juvia). <3

I feel like Gray is probably closest to juvia now. He's always around her when they're not on a journey. Then, I would say natsu is like a brother to him. If this were natsu, I guarantee it would mostly likely be filled with happy and lucy. Then Gray.

He's close enough to Lucy too, given the amount of time they spend together. By now, there's no way he doesn't consider Lucy an important person in his life. Same with Erza.

We know that. However, there's always someone you're closest to in a group. For Gray, that happens to be juvia...Then natsu. C'mon, Lucy mostly hangs with natsu, vice versa when they're off work. There's nothing wrong with being closer to someone in particular. It doesn't disregard everyone else importance in Gray's life at all.

All the times Gray flashes back.... has he ever thought specifically of Lucy? He seems like he either thinks of fairy tail/friends in general... or Ur, Juvia, and Natsu. Especially in moments he's about to die. And I guess maybe sometimes he has thoughts of Ultear and Lyon. I know in the chapter Armor of the heart, Gray thought back to meeting Erza for the first time.

I have to say that scene of Ur saying stop Gray when he was about to ice shell Zeref.... had me thinking of Musica x Reina and I was like.... Mashima, Ur is so hot and can almost ship her with Gray if she wasn't more his mother.

Fairy tail family - Natsu. Erza
Fairy tail friends - Lucy, Wendy, Mira, Loke, Cana
Future - Juvia

Gray spends way more time with Juvia than anyone, including Lucy. They lived together. On the contrary, I don't think he spends much time with Lucy at all.
