I thought it was canon that her boyfriend was alcohol. I can see her being a spinster like that cool aunt. I don't like Bacchus Cana because of what he did and two alcoholics is a relationship doesn't sound healthy. Or if Jenny doesn't work out Hibiki would be a cute match.

My favorite part of the most recent chapter would have to be Lucy's reactions and facial expressions to everything that is going on. I feel kind of bad for Lucy though. Everything she's done in the latter half of this arc has been aimed at trying to save Natsu. It's heartbreaking to see her break down like this.

He's shown them plenty and last I checked that was what really mattered in a story, Show don't tell.

I think Natsu's side was sorta supposed to be implied by transforming to E.N.D. after he thought Lucy died in the same way that Gray's reaction to Juvia's sorta-death did. Lucy's emotional for sure, I think it depends on how intense we construe that reaction to be. She certainly cries more for Natsu than others. Natsu goes ballistic when Lucy gets hurt.

That being said, as for Gruvia, Gray's somewhat adorkable face and wanting to go to Juvia to apologize as his "after the war" thing is another solidifying Gruvia thing for sure.

Still kind of lament Cana never getting a canon love interest, just one of many supporting characters with way too little development. Basically I think he ramped the series up into full on fight mode with team Natsu too quickly rather than taking a few more arcs at the start to establish more about more characters. Bacchus is probably the most mentioned, but I think he'd be more of a drinking buddy than anything.

I feel you, but to be completely objective in the totality of it she definitely had her own dedicated arc and character development. Even fighting August she seemed to grow more. Juvia or Gajeel who are more prominent than her didn't have one besides her introductory arc. I don't think every character needs somebody to end up with somebody but I think she did need a designated "friend", someone who she's extremely close to. In the early parts of the series Gray was someone she was super close too, she had a (weird) crush on Macao so that's another. So while her having a ship isn't necessary her close friendship with someone, maybe Bacchus, could of been keyed on.

No... he hasn't. He's shown the same care for Lucy as he has for others. He hasn't shown he loves Lucy.

He cares about Lucy, but again that's different from loving her. Otherwise with that logic we can say he loves Erza as he was willing to die with her when she was trying to save the group from anti-etheranos thing or something in the arc where Jellal was a villain.

Nalu has been "more than friends, less than lovers" for hundreds of chapters on end, 538 didn't offer anything different to that narrative.

Gruvia had been cast in stone a while back.

Natsu does have feelings for Lucy the director of the first movie confirmed it for us well Hiro did anyway Hiro said that hug scene was his favorite scene he did and he wanted to show the fans Natsu's feelings towards Lucy I red in a interview somewhere that its through on how Natsu looks at her like vision but its also confirmed that he thinks Lucy just sees him as a friend.

plus last chapter pretty much confirmed on what Natsu was planning to announce after the wars over
Happy's face pretty much gave it away cause he tends to make that face when hes teasing or its a love situation

but to see how protective Natsu is with Lucy even during that eclipse celestial spirit filler arc he'll do anything to make her smile again idc I loved that filler arc
and to witness her future self's death made him furious
and yes in the manga when he thought she was dead it triggered his END transformation

cause after the 1 year he return before the war started Natsu never once left Lucy's side he always takes her with him and Happy

plus in that omake ep when babysitting Asuka when she told him to kiss Lucy he didn't hesitate he was going in for the kill lol
and in dragon cry

Although I like their pre-timeskip interactions and I think this pairing has potential, I really don't think this pairing belongs there. Due to their extremely limited post time-skip interactions, this pairing comes across as extremely forced when placed next to better developed relationships. I think the foursome pairing of StingxYukinoxRoguexMinerva should have been there instead.

I don't think he thinks she's out if his league but definitely a friend for now. He grew up with a dragon and the only married couple he really knew was Wakaba. I think it's safe to say he doesn't know much about romantic love. If he doesn't know, he wouldn't know how to express it. That's my theory. Same with Lucy, she grew up sheltered with a workaholic father and books about true love. They could also be demi-sexuals.
