Mashima was explaining their current relation ship at that time by saying "for now they are more than friends less than lovers" he didn't close the
possibility for them to develop.
The moment of Gajeel and Natsu implied that Natsu likes Lucy and i think it become clearer for all that Lucy likes Natsu so there is no friend zoning from both sides. Because Natsu didn't go for the kiss doesn't mean he rejected her, He isn't ready for romance now and Lucys face said enough after hearing "Together forever"

To be fair, Natsu would like Irene too if she wasn't evil, just because she should have the same scent as Erza. It doesn't not imply friendzone. In fact, almost nothing implies Natsu hasn't friendzoned Lucy.

In the last chapter Mashima explained why Natsu only stick with Lucy out of all girls in FT because he feels calm around her because he liked Anna before. It does imply that Natsu like Lucy in a way. If you didn't get that then it's your problem.

Doubt it all you want. But I'm far more unbiased than majority, which is why it looks like I'm an anti Natsu-Lucy. And while they're among the best pairings as friends, I imagine them to be quite awkward as an actual couple. Maybe if Natsu matures, I might think otherwise.

With him we have to stay with the look of his acting, and Natsu ah demonstrated by Lucy an affection that goes beyond that shown by any other girl.

And the most important issue is that this.

Natsu said it's Lucy's scent that makes him feel calm, the one that makes him feel good, Lucy, not Erza, not Lissana, not Wendy, just Lucy.

Natsu is not someone romantic so it is a big gain that he admitted that Anna liked and does the Simil that what he feels for Lucy is the same.

It's just a matter of time, I hope Mashima gets a special out of it

That was the most weird part in the chaper, The first time you look at it looks like they had innocent sleep but then Lucy's comment "I can't be bride" makes it not innocent at all. Not to mention Happy telling her "Does your belly hurts" which really have many meaning xD.

So that means it's Anna he really likes, not Lucy, or that he doesn't really see her as a romantic thing if Anna's the reason why he feels calm around Lucy. A preggers teaser! That doesn't surprise me. Although, she was really drunk which is more of a thing to get preggers than be preggers. Her clothes were on when she woke up so nothing happened.

The problem with Naruto and Ichigo is that although their partners were almost destined, they were not given the right development to believe that there would really be something else.

Basically they were very forced relationships ... and you see that I am a fan of both couples, but I myself felt that I lack development.

The NaruHina came out for a movie, let's go it was almost as if they would fall in love overnight.

While the IchiHime did not have the correct development I feel that it was a "Hey, you're pretty, are we getting married?" Because he did not see a couple relationship.

If Mashima instead creates Omakes or a Spin Off where we see how the couples go from friends and prospects to boyfriends, I think that the development will be much higher because we know how they come to marriage.
